Hello everyone! o/
I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 SM9005, Android 5.0 Lollipop - non rooted. So, my question is - in what order should I root the device and install custom recovery or ROMs? I am aware of the basics regarding root and custom recovery, but not sure about what ROMs are or do. Therefore, I would like to sincerely apologize if I am wasting your time or anything but most of the posts I find tends to get technical very fast so understanding them becomes tough. So, a basic introduction to the 3 terms would be helpful.
Next - if you would kindly direct me to the most efficient and/or most useful methods to root-ing the device (like - should I use SuperSU or Kingroot or Xposed?) and installing custom recovery (like CWM or TWRP), that would be also helpful. Also, I believe that back-ups can be made using custom recovery in case of any problems - any info (basics) on that would be appreciated.
Last little bit - I did use superSU on my last phone but it kept saying something about BusyBox, if someone could give me a simplified explanation, I would be very grateful. ^_^
Please and thank you! :3

Hello xda peeps,
This is my first post on the site so here's to hoping I don't break any rules .
I have recently upgraded to firmware 2.3.3 on my Samsung Galaxy S I9000 with above mentioned Kernel - XWJVN. I know there is a related post in the development section but I am yet to find a simplistic explanation of:
1. How I would firstly root the phone to access superuser rights.
2. What the most useful changes would be to make to my phone once it is rooted, considering I am still relatively noob.
3. Pretty much anything else I would need to know, ie. basic explanations of rooting, roms, flashing etc.
I apologise in advance if aforementioned have been answered to suit a newbie such as myself but I was not able to locate them anywhere on the site.
Any help would be apprecaited peeps.
Thanks
Aurnen
Hey everyone, My first post on here so please bear with me as this maybe in the wrong thread.
I purchased this tablet from eBay and it arrived with some form of custom KitKat 4.4.2 ROM installed on it which is all well and good all though i would like to:
Install Stock ROM
Root Device
Reason for wanting the stock ROM is because in theory it should be a lot more stable than what the device currently is but following both set of instructions on their website proves to not work at all (unless I'm doing something wrong as not found out how to enter download mode yet!).
Is there another way of installing these files at all? Also any help on getting into download mode and recovery mode properly would be of great assistance!
At this point could i also ask if there is a really good KitKat ROM for this device that will support the rockchip?
Then last of all i would like to root the device, Again any help would be greatly appreciated and all info regarding this device can be found on their website as i can't post links yet.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and hopefully someone can help.
Device info: http://www.bidwelltec.com/nb7850-s/
Will you please help gather support from developers for the NB7850 S. I couldn't find any sites supporting this device by independent developers. I have already sent an email to the site email form, so please don't overload them with requests, just wondering if we could gather interest and support for this device, the stock ROM is already laggy and hard to root or even using sometimes with the way they have this ROM set up. Please help, I am in stock ROM H.E.Double hockey sticks.
Thank you to anyone who can help me root this device and get a recovery flashed and !maybe guide me on developing for this device. I am so lost when it co!es to Android developmemt and would appreciate any help I can get to demystify this. I like to write easy to follow noob related articles so help me, to help you. LoL thank you everyone. ?:good:

Hi, sorry to say but it appears to be a bit of a white box brand so it's unlikely to gain support due to it being unknown and present in many variants of the device.
You would be better to look around for ROMs that support specific components in the device in order to have better luck as their will be similar devices using the same components with one of them probably having a ported ROM such as CM
Hope I could help and good luck

root genius worked for me literally just rooted a few minutes ago took me forever to find one that worked
http://www.shuame.com/en/root/
Root Genius worked for me also
Lot of applications that require root access work fine. Now, how do I do a Nandroid backup? Also, anybody know tried a custom ROM on this device? Hesitant to "just try it" until I have a full Nandroid backup.
I have one of these. Got it for $59.95 on sale via Staples website. A curious thing is that none of the preloaded apps show under My apps and the Store won't automatically update any of them. I had to look them up on the Store and install the latest versions.
Hey guys and gals so i have a ZTE Z730 t-mobile i successfully rooted the phone and it also installed CWM v6.0.5. Here's my issue other than im a complete newbie, i downloaded rom MGR and it was not compatible with that version of CWM. Im guessing that there arent any custom roms out for this yet so my question is can i use a different recovery so i can flash custom roms if so what and where can i find these like i said im just starting out and want to learn all that is possible about flashing roms and such for android not sure where to start i really dont want to use the same root method because of the fact that it automatically puts the cwm v6.0.5.0 on it and i cant do anything with it or can i ? well i hope someone can reach out and point me in the rite direction it would be greatly appreciated and thank you ahead of time be well billy (a desperate newbie).
Just a side note that rooted z730 i had i tried to uninstall the cwm and failed miserably so that phone lies in the newbie android user graveyard i actually just purchased another today.:fingers-crossed:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. Unfortunately if there are no ROMs available for your device no amount of changing recovery will be able to fix that. You can only flash ROMs that were developed for your device, and if none of those actually exist, you're fresh out of luck. But, if you have root you can still customise your stock ROM a bit by using Xposed Framework:
Xposed - General info, versions & changelog
And you'll find an entire section of XDA dedicated to compatible Xposed Framework modules:
Xposed Framework Modules
So I'd suggest you do some looking around there and start customising your device.
Good luck!
Very helpful a huge thank you

Hello everyone,
I'm here today to SEEK HELP. I have bought a variant of Wiko Slide 2 aka Cloudfone Excite Prime here in the Philippines. I wanted to make my personal back for this device that is flashable via SPFlashTool. Or make ".img" files for short. I already know how to that on my previous devices but that was KK having 3.4.6 kernel. This is my first LOLLIPOP device that is why I needed some advice and help.
My questions are:
1. How will I know if my bootloader is locked?
2. Is it necissary to unlocK the bootloader so that I could make full back up?
3. Can I directly back up this via MTKDroidTools(the most convenient back up method I ever tried for MTK)? Since it is using different kernel.
4. How do I make custom recovery or CWM for Lollipop(kernel 3.10.x) based?
That would be all for now. Please help me I really don't know stuffs for Android L since it is different from older versions. Thank you :good:
Hi,
I can't find anything on your device here on XDA, aside from this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help/help-root-wiko-slide-2-t3279083
I doubt that will help you, so I suggest you try asking all of your questions in one thread created here,

Good luck!
