Why are you requesting help for an LG phone in the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 forum? You'd be better off asking people who own the same phone for help!

Its my brother in law who's having the issue. He called vzw and they told him to factory reset but he doesn't want to do that. He's not very tech savvy.

I'm assuming he has a Note 5, at least?
Either way, looks to be an issue with some app that wants to be a device administrator complaining that it's not a device administrator. Probably some ****ty GO SMS/Clean Master/360 Security/other garbage app. Go into Settings > Lock screen and security > Other security settings > Phone administrators, see what devices are capable of acting as device administrators, and try uninstalling them one by one until the message stops appearing.

Either that or enable the app to have device administrator privileges.

Hey, just wanted to say thanks for your help. My brother in law was able to figure out which app was causing the issue. He uninstalled and no more message.

[Replacing Whatsapp] What runs well on Nexus 5?

At the title suggests I'm looking for a whatsapp replacement.
Ideally I would use BBM, but I cannot rely on it for notifications. The app icon disappears from the status bar after few minutes and then no notifications will be received until opening the app again.
Any good suggestions on alternatives that are tried and tested on our nexus 5?

Open BBM -> More -> Settings -> make sure "BBM Connected Icon" is turned on.
I've had the same, in the previous version, before this button was even introduced. Ever since BBM was updated, the icon has always been there and has never disappeared, at all.

no go for me.. tried on my nexus 5 and daughters nexus 4 on KitKat.... after a period in deep sleep the bbm app goes into a 0bytes state in settings/apps/running.. then despite the status bar icon saying connected, bbm will not get notifications until it is opened again. Other msg apps cope fine in the 0byte state, shrugs.. I have missed loads of messages over the last week's.
I've tried many things to try and stop that behaviour..
turning it into system app
setting all permissions
changing owner and group to root
odexing it
nothing works

Ah, I see. My bad then.
As of to the replacement - Kik Messenger works well. Works similarly to BBM, by having your own name used to add people (i.e. MrCatalyst) and vice versa. Much more secure than WhatsApp, which uses phone number and lacks privacy, and very similar to BBM at that.
My proposal is Swiss app Threema. Their servers are in Switzerland also. Works OK. If you can get your friends to use paid app.

OK Google detection

Just factory reset my phone to fix an issue with encryption and for some reason I have no option for OK Google detection from any screen. Option just isn't there. I've disabled a voice but no luck.
Anyone else seeing this?

Same thing happened to me, and some other people over in the galaxys6 reddit sub. I wonder if it has something to do with trusted voices because I now see that in the smart lock settings. Clicking it brings you to google nows OK Google section.
I'm on att if it matters.

Mine updated a couple days ago(staged rollouts) and I did have the ability before that, hopefully they fix it soon.
Uninstall the update and see if that fixes it.
I just checked and mine is gone as well.

Didn't work, option is still missing.
Quick research on the play store shows several people with S6/Edge phones complaining about hotword detection option missing.
And I just checked mine, its missing for me too.
So strange.... had it visible and working on both my new phones this morning, and now GONE - nothing but the one option to launch it from the Google Now screen, all other options done disappeared - wtf mate
Yay I've started something! One of those people on play store with s6 was me

You know what's wild, I've had the always on feature missing from my Nexus 9 for a long time, like months.. G Now just updated this morning, and now suddenly it's working again (???)
Do you guys have the correct language set?
I do. My voice features disappeared as well
Have the same issue. 'Anywhere' hot word detection disappeared yesterday. I also think it must have been the update I ran. Uninstalling the Google now update had no effect though. Also tried setting the language to English US, no effect. Next thing I was going to try was factory reset, but sounds like this don't work either?
Installed Google launcher for the time being. Atleast I can use 'okay Google' from all my home screens until this is resolved.
I got the same problem on my older phone

Can confirm the any screen options are missing on my S6 too, had it before the update a day or 2 ago.
I'm wondering if to start a thread on Google product forums and report as a bug. If enough people post it tends to get escalated to google

Same thing happened with the Moto X.
There is a config flag that lists the 'blacklist' phone models. There used to be an app to force the Google app into debug/dogfood mode so that you could change it - but I haven't seen any way to do that w/ the newest versions. My guess is that Samsung chose to disable listen everywhere to try to force people into using s-voice.

Hidden "SVC Menu" & WiFi Calling? Could it be?

I have a NON-rooted AT&T V10 that recently got upgraded to marshmallow. I had a horrible experience (as I have before) with the OTA upgrade and ended up doing a factory reset, but now that that is done it is running very smoothly and the battery life has really been good. But that is not what I'm here for. Now that everything is running well I thought I'd try to see what options are available to me in this new version so I went online to see what "hidden" menus were available.
I found this one: *#546368#*900# (900 being the model of AT&T's V10) It brings up several tests you can run, but also a "SVC Menu". After going in the svc menu there is an option at the bottom called "VoWiFi" which I thought looks interesting. The value at stock for the item in the menu: "Wi-Fi Calling toggle" was "-1" (which doesn't make any sense to me). Since it's obvious that this should provide me "voice over Wifi" I decided to try it since the service in my 2 story house is pretty bad in the corner of the basement where my office is.
After setting the value to 1 I've made a few calls and found out that indeed this does seem to work! but only when I'm in my basement with limited service (1 bar). The Wifi icon adds a plus symbol to the icon and I've made several calls now and on the dialing screen on the "Red End" icon there is a wifi symbol right above it presumably meaning you are calling using VoWiFi?
I haven't seen the documented or talked about anywhere so i joined this forum asking you guys if you can both confirm for me that I have this correct, but also to share my find and hope it helps someone else. Also, should this work for SMS/MMS as I've seen mentioned for the VoWiFi standard??? In the texting I've done so far (also very bad service for texting) It may indicate that it does. Interested to know from you guy/gals what you think?
I'm very excited about this - Comments/Thoughts are appreciated.
Thanks.
Very cool! Definitely one of the reasons to upgrade to the 6.0 update, but I prefer root instead. Cool though!
Can't root due to company policy...otherwise I Very much agree and would in a heartbeat.
This was great until I rebooted my phone and now it doesn't work anymore. Any idea how to fix it?

They do show back up again after a factory reset, but they still don't work. It was nice while it lasted, would be great to get this feature back again, but oh well.
I've been using this pretty regular. I just have to go back to the menu and toggle it off and then back on and it works.

What is the process you are using? Turn it off exit then dial the code again and turn it on again, or what?
Sent from my LG-H900 using XDA-Developers mobile app
Yes I dial the code and toggle it off. Wait a few seconds and then toggle it back to on. Several days and it's worked doing just that. If the phone reboots or runs dead, just do the code again and switch the setting off then back on. Until it is permanently activated by AT&T this is what seems to be a work around.

Doing a Google search for it I don't see anything for Launch Manager other than a 3rd party app for the app circle with all your apps. No aftermarket apps installed?

Which watch face do you have installed? This looks like a stupid pop up ad from some stupid free app...
Weird, something definitely up. I would investigate getting a replacement. "green screen" is one of the color tests but the keyboard is gray with white characters. Scrolling up and down displays different tests.

Try this, worked for me fixing SkyGo with a similar error, I think it is the security app blocking too much.....
On my Xiaomi Fold 2, stock China rom, Android 13, MIUI 14. No unlocked bootloader (no need to unlock it at all). You will need to create a MIUI account first, easy enough on the phone or computer.
Settings > Apps > Mi Protect (which should be turned off by default) > Three dots top right > Click Chinese text (third one down out of three menu options) to turn off that setting. You will need to log in to MIUI account here with the password to achieve this. This option must be switched off.
After a clean install, whatever that particular Chinese text option is, it is always on by default. It's some kind of security setting that blocks SkyGo from working, causing the external output blocked message.
There may be other phones that have similar security measures that also block the SkyGo app doing whatever it needs to do to function correctly.
Cheers!
