Phone screen status:
On screen there are vertical lines in random colors, and if I press on the screen semi-hard it turns black( more force results in white screen). When I depress it return to partial visibility. By that I mean left most and right most part of screen is at most times black. Touch screen is working for the most part(can't pull down notifications, else seems to be working).
My question is will the sceen replacement solve the problem or is the damage more severe?
I cant provide pictures, don't have other phone If opportunity arises, I will post them.
Phone is sony xperia e4
Also, lets say that repair shops are too far, expensive,...

Yep, that is unfortunately a job for Mr. Repair Shop. That does sound more like a just screen problem and not software or more severe. If it would have been more severe, I don't think you'd be able to use your phone.
Just to clarify, you mean the touch screen is broken, not the glass on top of it?

Well, technically it's one piece that needs replacing and that's the screen which contains touchscreen and glass.

Hello
I have noticed that my Moto G (1st gen) has a problem where if you touch the screen you can see a "ripple effect" in the center of the screen, it's get more noticeable as you press harder, but even if you press light touches it's still visible somehow but very little.
I have searched the forums and found people having this issue with the 2nd gen of the device: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/help/screen-question-t2947732
here is a picture of the problem some guy posted (in my device it's always presents in the center of the screen no matter where i press):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3036129&d=1417076320
Can you please check if your device has this problem too?
Make sure brightness is highest and test in while you viewing black image: http://images2.layoutsparks.com/1/230004/seductress-plain-black-page.jpg
Thanks!

I know LCD screens have this issue, but I suppose in phones they had to deal with it somehow.
what's bothering me it's that if it's more noticeable if i press the middle of the screen, the bottom and top parts seems less affected. like something is applying pressure to the middle of the screen (the battery maybe ??) I'm also seeing the "ripple" when I'm applying pressure to the M logo at the back of the phone.
Shame that even G3 has this issue who even cares about QHD lol, 720p is more than enough even for 5.5" screens.
Thanks for helping, I would be grateful if more people can check this out.

No bro, not the battery problem(no pressure), it is the way they made the phone.. Each LCD have his own "ripples", just take an app like linkedin en take a blue background you will see how sick the ripples are. Im also irritating a lot but really leave it dont look at the ripples
I've never had such a problem before with any touchscreen electronic ever had from resistive to capacitive touch. I did try to press really hard on the center of the screen of my Moto G and everything that happens is a slightly distortion because the glass is touching the pixels but not what you reported. What I noticed is a tiny bit reduction of the brightness every time I press the screen but is so minimal that you have to be in a pitch black room and pay a lot of attention to it. So I guess you could return the phone as defective or change the display if you're able to do that.
P.S. the pic you posted is not a total black image so when I turn the brightness all the way up I see something even if I'm not touching the screen. I tested with my own made really black pic and I have no issue whatsoever.

There is no way you really pressed hard and nothing happened.
If you would have pressed hard the ripples should be clearly visible, this is how LCD works and it's known. every phone with LCD I saw would ripple if pressed hard enough. My problem is that it's visible another normal usage in a dark room.
Are you sure it actually reduced the brightness? it supposed to be brighter. it will look like a white stain like in this picture: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3036130&d=1417076320. And yes the picture is not really fully black I found it on google and from my PC it looked blacked.

But why the ripple happens in the same spot? no matter where I press it's in the same location (in the center of the screen), that's makes me wonder, because in LCD's it's supposed to ripple where you touched.
Do you have a Moto G 1st gen too and actually sees this with regular taps? it's changing based on the tap location or it's fixed?
Thanks for your help

Because it is sensitive there?? It is rippeling on every spot where you touch buts on some ares it is more sensitive i think(close to the layers, especially in the center of your screen).
I own a LG G3 and before 2 LG G2 's. So i know what ripple means . Check the Z3 of Sony same ****.
Hello. My screen cracked last week so i decided to buy new digitizer with frame and replace it on my own. I bought it for 35$. Replacmet went smoth, but screen didnt seem to work. Phone is booting and its loading android, I'm able to spot it couse there is a sound when I press volume up or down or try to make screenshot, but all those sound are delayed about 2s. Screen just display only one color at the time, its changing for another one for every ~10s. I was wondering if I bought crappy screen or i messed up something with wires?
Does the old screen display an image? If it does , reinstall the old screen to see if the images are properly displayed. If they are properly displayed, looks like the replacement screen is not good.
Sadly, old screen doesnt work. I was excepting that new screen may be the case, but i'm worried about lag after adjusting a volume. It may may be coused by screen?
Sounds to me like you have received a defective screen. Contact the seller to get a replacement.
Hello, guys.
Recently, I dropped my M2 on the street, resulting in cracked touchscreen and lcd. Replaced both the touch and the lcd, everything seemed normal until I noticed that the middle part of the touch (a line going from the left to the right, around 1cm height) doesn't work, it just doesn't respond. Later, I got another new touchscreen and same story - same part of the screen doesn't work.
Maybe we have some kind of defect touch screens here in Bulgarian stores? Though I bought the two touches from two seperate stores. Or it's possible that it's something with the lcd? Even though it works normally, no strange behavior, no black spots, scratches or anything. Or could it be a software problem? Using Android 5.0.
Thanks in advance.
More likely to be motherboard problem if it's the same with 2 different screens being installed
Thanks for your answer.
One thing I forgot to mention - when testing the screen in Sony's Sketch app or in the service menu, if I run my finger from the top to the bottom, or the opposite way quickly, sometimes, the lines my finger makes don't get cut, i.e. it's like the screen is functioning properly, with no dead spots. What does this mean?
According to Sony support, it could be a compatibility issue between the phone/touchscreen/LCD, what do you think?
allthough some screen shots looks fine but while i am using the phone i cant see it clearly any text its kind of of blurred . you can see that in the last screen shot
blurry screen when touch works properly
here are the photos of it

Your blurry screen isn't going to show up in screenshots. Your screen is water damaged and you are going to have to get a replacement device.

before some time there was pink colour spots like colour bleeding on down of screen and now its gone and now the screen is lil blur so should i keep it in rice or do some other technique to get it sorted and i also heard that there may be some part inside it which is shaken by falling and can be fixed ? or i need to change the display itself ?
i havent gone to service center as i thought if it can be solved without going there and when i am opening the sim tray i cannot see any red mark so plz let me know what is the best thinhg i can do ?
You could get the screen replaced but you'll have to find an OEM part, order it, and then take it to a shop that will swap the screens out. I think you should just get the phone replaced completely as other issues could show up later given that your screen is already damaged.
Hi, I recently bought an HTC U11 , it's been 10 days and i am facing an issue with the display. Horizontal lines appear when i touch the screen a lot in a short period of time. I am attaching a couple of pictures for reference. It look worse to the naked eye. Is any one else face this issue?
Thanks in advance.
I've had mine for a month and seen this happen three times now, I think. I'll try to get some photos next time. I have no idea what causes it. What do you mean by "touch the screen a lot in a short period of time"?
Mine did this too like 3 times.
I think I noticed it happen after wiping the screen with a cloth ( has got to do with pressure and the attachment of the digitizer with the screen I guess ).
It goes away with some fiddling around, I can RMA it, but I don't want to send it out.
Don't know what to do

Like swiping the screen repeatedly in a short period of time.
hey guys, what did you do - i have the same problem after 4 months of use .. never fell down!
same problem here but doesnt bother me , strange to see
I have (unfortunately) grown used to it. I can confirm it's due to rubbing the screen, but I don't need a cloth for it to show up; mine happens from my fingers. It's easily reproducible by quickly and repeatedly swiping upwards on a section of screen. Slowly swiping downwards on an affected section can then remove it.
Here's a photo of the effect across the whole screen. It is much more noticeable than it appears in the image.
I has the same issue too, I talked with the tech support, they said it seems to be a hardware issue and I should send it back for repair.

Interesting that they think it can be repaired. Do let us know how it goes
Reparied
I sent to repair for 2 times. Second I sent picture and video of the problem directly to the repair place, and they changed the LCD panel, and the problem has disappeared. So far so good.

I just notice that this seems affected by humidity. I just tried to exhale and put some moist in the unit screen then rub again while moist and the line disappear (this is during the line is visible). It feels like the coating reacts on the friction. That's what I think of. By the way I'm not using screen protector right now. If its working with screen protector put on, please let me know.
