Hi, I am hoping that someone could give me some guidance. I have an unlocked Latin American atrix 2. Evidently it's running the 2.3.6 gingerbread software. Normally I probably wouldn't care about outdated software. But it appears as though I am unable to download many apps from the play store with this outdated version. I tried to check for updates via the phone itself, but I get the message saying that the software is already up to date. Of course that's not true, but I'm guessing it's because the phone isn't branded with AT&T and things just rent registering as they normally should.
I have never rooted a phone or flashed a rom. This is only my second android phone. I have become very overwhelmed with the information that I have obtained tonight through my reading up on this phone and software possibilities, so please keep this in mind! What should I do? I may be wrong, but I guess my options are to go with an ice cream sandwich upgrade or the newest jelly bean upgrade. I'm not sure if either or both are compatible with the Latin America version of atrix 2. Everything I've found on this site references the Asian version, which this is not. I don't want to give up on this phone because I like it otherwise... And already have all the accessories for it. Will someone guide me please into finding a solution? Thank you very much.
Please keep any advice simple and as user friendly as possible please. I know next to nothing about flashing roms, etc. Thank you again. I'm just hoping for the easiest way to make this phone completely usable and not outdated.
The easiest way is to flash an ics fxz..since your phone is not at n t branded you can flash any fxz except at n t..check out the development section for the fxzs

Thank you for the suggestion, I searched the atrix 2 development forum and a whole assortment of topics appeared, all of which are beyond my understanding. If you have time and are willing, perhaps you can point me in a more specific direction. If you can provide me with a specific link, that'd be much appreciated. I've never flashed a rom or rooted a phone etc. before. I'm stuck.

You need 3 things:
The firmware (ICS 4.0.4): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1934874
RSD Lite: http://fwteam.grupoandroid.com/OTAs/RSDLite6.1.5.zip
and Drivers: https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/prod_detail/a_id/78863/p/30,6720,8109
About firmware: Doesn't matter if it's latam, I am from Peru and Claro is my carrier. You can install the five first if you are very sure that your phone is not AT&T. In my experience the ME are more FASTER than MB, but if you are like me, I love my native language ESPAÑOL, and the spanish language of ME is not complete. I recommend you MB865 Version: 6.7.2_EDEM-18-ASIAOPS It works very well for me XD.
Later of download firware and install RSD Lite and drivers What you need to do is:
Connect the phone to PC
Turn off the phone and then press the volumen +, volumen - and power button, the three at the same time.
Then, you select AP Fastboot.
Open RSD Lite and click the three points (...) and select the firmware downloaded
Click Decompress only wait and...
Click Start button and wait...
Obviously in the proccess do not disconnect the phone. And you need 50-60% of battery at least.
It takes about 10 minutes aprox and the first boot takes another 10 minutes. All you need to do is wait until your phone ask you to SELECT A LANGUAGE.

Se você é um geek como mim, você tem que experimentar esta ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2121029). É muito mais fluida que ICS 4.0.4. Você sempre pode reinstalar ICS 4.0.4 se você não gosta de JB 4.2.2/CyanogenMod 10.1. É outro procedimento. Notifique-me se você se anima.

Atrix 2 (MB e ME) foi atualizado oficialmente a ICS 4.0.4. O que você mencionou é uma atualização de Motorola, mas não foi oficialmente liberarada. Como todos os ME, é muito mais fluido que o MB. Só tem idiomas Chinês(e variaçoes), Inglês e Espanhol. Para mim funcionou tudo, mas gosto do espanhol e a tradução não estava completa. :/
Sobre 4.2.2/CM10.1, Para mim tudo funciona exceto o HDMI. O gravador de video não permite 1080p, só 720p. Mas eu não uso essas funções então não é um problema pra mim... por agora rsrsrs.
Pra algumas pessoas a pantalla fica preta, mas não e meu caso XD. Ninguém tem certeza porque isso pasa.

Se eu pegar e colocar essa rom 4.1.2 CN , Posso posteriormente voltar para o ICS 4.0.4, pelo mesmo processo RSD lite? e outra coisa quando eu instalei essa rom 4.0.4 coloque o idiome em portugues, mas hoje testei o english, mas quando fui selecionar o portugues novamente nao aparece na lista de idioma, porque?

Vc pode voltar a ICS pelo mesmo processo. Sobre o idima tenta WIPE CACHE.
Connect the phone to PC
Turn off the phone and then press the volumen +, volumen - and power button, the three at the same time.
Then, you select Recovery whait until you can see an android fallen XD.
Press the volumen +, volumen - at the same time.
Select wipe cache partition and press power button... wait and...
Reboot system now

I am guessing that rom selection will be more limited for us.
Also would like to know, does Motorola Brazil void warranty when you unlock the bootloader?

Thanks man! I am still contemplating unlocking it. So far I don't miss root THAT much, it works quite well out of the box but it's a nice to have feature. Did you unlock yours?

olá meus caros! eu estou comprando um moto x style (ainda não paguei o boleto) e precisava saber sobre a qualidade da saída de áudio do fone de ouvido, porque sempre usei o AudioFX do Cyanogenmod no meu nexus 4 porque a qualidade dos graves e a equalização é perfeita, e com isso da dificuldade de root e de colocar TWRP pra fazer qualquer modificação desse tipo me preocupa.... e então, o que vocês acham sobre a qualidade de saída de áudio stock?

I'm about to buy the moto X style and I needed to know about the quality of audio output for headphones, because I always used AudioFX from Cyanogenmod in my nexus 4, because the quality of bass and the equalization is perfect, so the problem with root access and TWRP to make any kind of modifications of this kind worries me.... so, what do you guys think about the stock audio output on this phone?

but what about the quality of the sound of your phone? do you use often your phone for listening to musics or something like that through headphones? I really wanted to know..... but, about the rom stuff... since the SIM card configuration is different, the kernel is different, so if you're lucky enough to make it boot up properly with a xt1575 rom or the EU 1572 (single SIM), congratulations!
mas e a qualidade de som do seu celular? você usa muito pra escutar música ou coisa do tipo por fone de ouvido? eu realmente preciso saber... mas sobre as coisas da rom.... se a configuração de cartão SIM é diferente, o kernel vai ser tbm, então se vc for sortudo suficiente pra conseguir fazer ele ligar normalmente com uma rom do XT1575 ou do XT1572 europeu (single chip), parabéns!
The volume is pretty weak, but the sound quality is fairly good. I use and iPod and the difference is kinda obvious. I don't think I would use Style as a regular music player, because low volume bothers me a lot. Unless you use intra auricular phones. And about the ROMs, I could install all of them. Didn't even experienced any bootloop. The problem is the damn SIM not found.

i've been using this device for probably a week or so, and the sound is amazing... If you don't want to burn your hearing and just enjoy a good music, the volume is fine, it's really loud actually... I mean, the phone itself is perfect, and I don't think that I will need root or any modification for now
eu usei esse aparelho por provavelmente uma semana mais ou menos, e o som dele é incrivel... se você não quer fritar seu ouvido e só quer aproveitar uma boa musica, o volume é ótimo, na verdade é bem alto.. quer dizer, o aparelho em si é perfeito, e não acho que vou precisar modificar ou colocar root por enquanto
Manos, vamos la, a muito tempo atras, acredito que na primeira semana que recebemos o MM aqui no BR meu amigo atualizou o telefone dele, mas a partir dai começaram varios problemas como : celular travando a cada toque e o wifi parou de funcionar magicamente, voce ligava ele nas configuraçoes, saia da tela e quando voltava ele estava desligado. como ele tem o bootloader desbloqueado na assistencia da motorola disseram para ele que ele teria que trocar a placa do telefone dele, oq na minha opniao é um absurdo, pois esta claro que é um problema de software. Enfim, é ai que eu entro, ele me deu a missão de consertar o celular dele mas eu simplesmente ja tentei tudo que estava dentro do meu conhecimento, ja flashei algumas diversas ROMs e nada do bendito wifi voltar a funcionar... eu não sei oq fazer, estou para desistir.... o telefone mostra uma versao de baseband no android (porem na tela de bootloader ele mostra baseband not found), faz ligaçoes, recebe ligaçoes, SMS e afins, tudo normal, bluetooth tambem mas o wifi não funciona, o mac adress fica mostrando : 02:00:00....... e é isso, quem puder me dar uma luz, eu ja tentei flashar tanto LP quanto MM, mas é o mesmo efeito para os dois. Vou abrir um tópico também para relatar o problema, e ver se tenho ajuda de algum dos gringos. Vlw glra !

As this model is missing root, custom recovery, custom kernel, ported GCam ... At first I will dedicate myself to TWRP and Root, it may take a while because I want something compiled for him, without gambling. ?

Guys, do you know about Magisk? It is possible to root with it, however, I just won't do it now on this device that I have because rooting already completely loses the warranty of the device. I want to spend more time with him to see if a problem will arise.

Mas vocês podem ir baixando no site da Asus a firmaware da mesma versão que está instalada atualmente no aparelho de vocês. Com ela é possível fazer root. Comecei escrever o tutorial, é bastante coisa para que nunca fez, mas para quem tem conhecimento com o Magisk não é difícil. Só lembrando que você pode perder a garantia e não receber mais atualizações OTA no aparelho e se baixar uma firmaware diferente e incompatível pode danificar o celular permanentemente.

magisk can't ... because you have to unlock the bootloader before ... otherwise you can't flash files on android ...

o magisk não dá... pois tem q desbloquear o bootloader antes... senão não da pra "flashear" arquivos no android...

Ainda ta sendo analisado, mas essa versão funciona 100%

If your phone will not show anything on the screen ( Black Screen Of Death ) it could be a software problem especially if you've rooted your phone. Try flashing phone's stock software on it.

Eu já restaurei o aparelho , não adiantou , o LCD não liga.
