Lock mode bug! - MX Player

I have tested the following problem on several Samsung galaxy phones including J7, J5, A7 2016 edition all running marshmallow 6.0.1. In all of them the following problem persists:
While watching video with screen lock turned on, touching the back button doesn't do anything which is fine as it is not supposed to respond while in locked mode. But the other two buttons which are home button and the right side button for open apps will respond even on screen lock mode. pressing them in locked mode will unlock the locked mode in mx player. touching the recent apps button will open recent apps even in locked mode and pressing the home button in locked mode goes to home. it is in an annoying bug as in locked mode no key should respond. Does anyone else have the same problem? i tested in lollipop and it is fine there. the problem only exists in marshmallow - at least on the above model phones.
Basically the problem is the lock mode doesn't work for home button and left soft key while it works for right soft key which is back key. Any solutions guys, or anyone working on bug fix.? Please respond.

It's not a bug actually. Android doesn't allow to lock everything until or unless device administrator permission is granted. As far as I know, it will be dangerous when MX keeps on crash. There won't be a way to unlock the device.
In MX Player, it's using android loopholes to lock the device & inputs. But, third party application can't lock all hardware keys.In recent android versions, google has restricted furthermore. So, it will also affect the efficiency of the locking. I have already discussed with the MX Player developer. But, it's less likely to be fixed since it's an android restriction.

Too bad there will probably be no fix as it is android restriction. many thanks to ktsamy for prompt reply. the problem is specifically annoying with kids around. I still hope there is some way out...!

MX player and Samsung new Recent button

Hi there
Have anyone tried MX player pro with any of Samsung new devices?
The problem lies within the new recent capacitive button that Samsung stupidly decided to do instead of going full on screen buttons. When you play a video and you lock the screen all buttons are locked expect for this button which results on me activating it lots and lots of time and it brings up the recent overlay which covers half of the screen then I have to press it again and again.
Please consider disabling this button when the user chooses to lock the device. Thank you so much.
P.S what's the official MX Player team email?
Hi Coolman4now,
Unfortunately it is not possible to block these button because of Android policy.
Some buttons cannot be blocked by 3rd party app. But Samsung and Google can do it.
This is not pair but it is their policy.
Thanks

[Q] MX player Child Lock bug on Samsung Galaxy S5

Dear all, once Child Lock is activated on SGS5, the only specific combination of touchscreens (4 corners clockwise. .) should unlock screen. However the down-left functional button (activation list of recent apps, button located on left side next to hardware button) is not covered by Child Lock protection. Can you please fix this bug? Thanks in advance.

Some Hardware keys can't be locked by third party apps. It's a restriction. MX Player developer has nothing to do with it.

Thaks a lot for your reply, btw in the case SGS5 the button not covered by child lock is software button (recent apps button, located on left side next to hardware button). Is please possible to fix this bug?
I think lollipop users can use that option lock an app so that no other can be used! Cant remember the name of that feature

I think you are talking about Screen Pinning.

I am also a S5 user....? ?
As I said earlier It's not a bug. Third Party apps can't lock some hardware keys.
But, you can try the following work around if you are already updated to lollipop.
Goto Settings >> Security & enable screen pinning.
Open MX Player
Open recent apps by pressing the hardware key. Now you will see a pin button on bottom right corner, just above clear recent items. Tap on pin button. When it asks confirmation select start. Now you have locked all keys & other apps. Only MX Player will be on screen.
Now play any videos & just use MX Player kids lock to lock MX Player. That's all.
Note:
If you want to unpin, just long press recent apps key.

The default video player that comes on the S5 allows you to lock out everything including the recents. Not sure if that's a special cause because it's a built in function, but it'd be neat if it worked all around.

[BUG REPORT][Solved] lock screen will make interface disappear after second video

By interface I mean the lock screen icon and any custom info that has been set. For example I have time remaining, time etc in the top corners. The only workaround is to switch on-off the screen with a hardware button, and the device will leave lock mode.
Using the last pro version in a Samsung galaxy 10.1 2014 but this issue is already several month in.

I can reproduce it. But, there is no need to screen off & on to unlock. Just touch the screen again. It will show lock button (not other custom Settings). You can easily unlock it to show the interface again.
BTW, you can fix this issue by simply adust the settings
Open Settings > Player > Lock Screen & set it to mode 3.

Thanks, it solved it.

Screen Pinning

On my previous phones and through reading around unpinning a screen required the user to hold both the recents button AND the back button. Does anyone know why the S6 and touchwiz only require you to hold to recents button? My toddlers use my phone for apps and kids youtube but they are constantly unpinning the screen cause of their little hands and they way they hold the phone with their thumb right on the recents button.
With the old M8 ir required both buttons to be held and they never unlocked it on their own by accident.
Anyone know why touchwiz has to be different and if there is a way to enable BOTH buttons to be used to unlock?
Not rooted and fully stock but use tasker. Perhaps there is something I could use with that if anyone has an idea.
Thanks.

i have to push recents and back buttons to un pin an app with my galaxy s6, idk maybe you have a fake galaxy s6.
maybe you are doing that in the wrong way.
Nope it's a phone direct from my carriers store so it's not a fake.
Also as you can see in the screen shot the instructions say you just need to hold the recent button.
Did you actually check yours? Maybe you are mistaken that you have to use two buttons on your S6.
Can anyone confirm for me what the instructions are exactly on their phone why trying to pin? Lots of views on this thread but no one is chiming in on how their phone works.
Mine says to hold recent button only too. I'm on 5.1.1 and never checked on 5.0.2 so I don't know if Samsung changed it.
What I've done is turn on the 'Use screen lock type to unpin' option so it requires my fingerprint after holding recents.

Hi thanks for helping out. I'm on 5.0.2.
I like your suggestion but I only use swipe lock so unfortunately I can't do that.
Maybe I'll see if I can get tasker to do something for me.
Cheers.

Mine says recent and back together. I tested it myself and recent alone does nothing but recent and back puts the phone back to normal. I'm on T-Mobile running the latest update 5/1.1

Kids Lock on Galaxy S7

The main reason I started using MX Player was the availability of the Kids Lock plugin. My daughter grew up watching videos on my Samsung Galaxy Tab. Now I have a new Samsung Galaxy S7 and I would like my son to be able to do the same thing. However, the Kids Lock does not lock either the hardware "Home" key or the soft "Recents" key, which are located at the bottom, below the touch screen. It does lock the touch screen and the Back key. But it doesn't take long for tiny fingers to find one of those two buttons and stop the playback. I'm sure there's nothing I can do to fix that, so I would just like to point out this problem and hope that someone can correct it.

There is no official way of locking down the screen while showing the contents. MX Player uses some tricks to block user inputs. Unfortunately some hardware keys (Recent button, Power Button) can't be blocked by third party apps.
