I dropped my HTC 10 in the water about 2 weeks ago. It didn't work anymore so I put it in rice for 3 days and all seemed fine, only some small damage to the display.
Starting about 4 days ago the touchscreen randomly stopped working. I rebooted and it worked again, but every time I disconnected the charger from the phone after overnight charging I would have to reboot it because the touchscreen wouldn't work.
Rebooting after overnight charging isn't that big of a deal so I just went with it, but the unresponsive touchscreen started occurring more often, and now the touchscreen stops responding within two hours from the latest reboot.
Description:
It's not always the whole touchscreen, sometimes it's only the back and the menu button which stop working. The buttons never work without the rest of the touchscreen working though.
Sometimes a reboot doesn't work and I have to reboot it until it works.
The touchscreen always becomes unresponsive from a locked state. So if I were to never lock my phone I wouldn't have any trouble with the touchscreen.
Because a reboot usually fixes the problem and it only occurs from lock I figured that a hard reset might fix the problem, but I figured I'd ask here first.

Hi all;
I would like an opinion on my issue. I own a LeTV Max X900 since mid-January. Its touch screen has been irresponsive at times for about a month.
I wonder if you guys think this is a software (and I should keep trying to solve it) or a hardware issue (and maybe it's best leaving the phone alone).
Basically, it may stop working all of a sudden. At first I could revive it by rubbing it against my shirt (in order to heat it up, as I suspected it was due to the cold weather in Paris).
Now it's just not working until I do one or a few reboots (holding power + Vol+ & - and then rebooting).
Sometimes simply going into recovery and rebooting works; sometimes i clear data from recovery and it works.... Sometimes I have to reflash any of the stock ROM I have.
Sometimes I leave it and it works after having not worked for a long while (can be hours, even days, once); sometimes i'm using it and I'm just left stranded.
It once totally stopped working for 3 days, then has worked flawlessy for about 2 weeks... and then last week it restarted with this behaviour but it was not too frequent and only out in the cold. Now I can't have a full day without this problem, even inside my house.
Interestingly, it can also be unresponsive even in the recovery menu, so I suspect this is hardware, but I would like a second opinion.
I have never rooted it or done anything other than updating the stock ROMs, either from recovery or from the Update menu, as advised by the manufacturer.
I would be glad to read your opinions.
So I bought this Huawei Mate 8 and to be honest I really loved it, it's the best phone atm imo. And it's pretty expensive in my currency. I've owned the phone for a couple of months now, 4 months I'd say. And just 12 hours ago, problems started.
It all started when I attempted to use the fingerprint scanner and my phone randomly restarted. Huh, I ignored it. But it happened again when I tried to open settings. It'd crash randomly on random actions. But it almost always crashed when I tried to open settings or use scanner. I removed my SD card and then it worked fine for a couple of hours, then it restarted again.
And sometimes it restarted many times over to the point where I'd think it's boot looping. But it'd eventually start. I reset the phone hoping it'd fix the problem if it's software related. But it always restarted right before I could enter my Google account to start the phone. But it reached it's eventual death. It crashed again but it didn't restart this time. I tried connecting it to its charger, but no response and no heat at all, not even in the charger's adapter. And my laptop didn't detect it at all.
What should I do now? This phone is new and expensive. I'm very careful with my devices and it's in a perfect condition. The only incident with it was when my selfie stick got too tight on the power button for like 10 seconds then I took it out. That was the same day the issue happened, so I'm not sure if it's just a coincidence. Anyways please tell me what I should do right now, and yes, the phone is still in warranty but I doubt they'd change it for me, their customer service is **** where I live.
Update
A couple of hours later, it was completely and utterly dead. I tried to press the power button and it turned on, it froze on the Huawei logo for like 3 minutes then it restarted again. It's acting really random right now, random restarts and then completely dead, then alive again...
Update #2:
I hard reset again and it's working pretty fine for now, I'll update again soon, but I strongly doubt that the problem is gone.
Hey all, have had the phone since release back late last year. Been perfect so far.
Over the weekend, suddenly in the afternoon, I wake the phone up, and the touchscreen doesnt respond. Held down all three buttons to hard restart before it worked.
Thought it was just a one off, but it happened several times over the next 24 hours. to recover, I have to hard reset, or sometimes even several (as on occassion the touchscreen wouldnt work on the encryption page). However, when it works, it would work perfectly for hours on end.
Have reset the phone. same.
ideas?
Hi,
Last Thursday night my pixel 2 became unresponsive, I rebooted and it worked again, then it became unresponsive again, I rebooted but to no avail. The phone does have a large chunk of glass missing in the bottom left below the screen (https://drive.google.com/open?id=1NdlE-Xrwa9rPPGpMXT47FHqLWfW0MHd2), this happened due to a drop some time ago. At the time I tried booting into safe mode which didn't help, I also tried to go into recovery mode to factory reset the phone to rule out any software issues, but the phone wouldn't enter recovery mode, it just would go straight to the "google" logo and then would boot loop and sometime it would break the loop and just boot as normal. This unresponsive behaviour has been demonstrated before, but a reboot sufficed.
As the phone appeared to be functioning otherwise, I decided to order a replacement screen (I haven't received it yet), although I do find the ability to not go into recovery mode concerning.
Also, when I say unresponsive I mean just to touch, the fingerprint reader still lets me pull down the notification bar; the phone is not frozen. One final thing and I'm sure if it's related, is that I was getting some crackles and pops when using my headphones with the provided 3.5 to USB C, I assumed it was down to the cable getting damaged, but it might also be to do with phone's damage.
I hadn't touched my phone all weekend, I turned it back on last night so my alarm would go off this morning. It did and I was to my surprise responsive. I left my phone to sit on my desk over the weekend and I believe the battery drained completely and it turned off, I'm not sure if that complete battery drain was the reset it needed or what. It was definitely unresponsive for half a day of me rebooting, but who know how long that would have went on for.
I'm not sure now if I should replace the screen, I think I will just due to the physical damage the phone has, but I would want to return the screen if the phone is on the brink of being unusable regardless of the screen/digitizer hardware. As clearly the hardware does still work.
Any advice/help would be much appreciated
I was using the phone and the display out of the sudden started being unresponsive yesterday, i tried recharging/charging and stuff and rebooted it multiple times by holding the power button
And also whenever i'd get in TWRP the display would also not work at all, the phone never had any damages before nor it was dropped nor it was in water, nothing
i'd love to know some solutions to this if i can use my pc or something, also the phone is still unresponsive after 7+ hours
