Best Buy is now selling the Moto Z DROID (pre-order) for $1 on a 2-year contract extension ($200 off) and tosses in the JBL SoundBoost speaker for free! Kinda amazed by that, considering its retail pricing.
Best Buy Link

Going there tomorrow and hoping they let me upgrade. My upgrade date is August 20th. I dont want to miss out on this deal.

I picked up the moto z for the $1 special and the free jbl mod speaker.

Decent deal, but I didn't realize doing 2yr contract was still a thing, also there's a $40 activation fee.

Wouldn't sign a 2yr contract. BB told me that the bill will go up $20. This is to pay the full retail price of the phone. If you are going to do that, might as well just do the payment plan without contract.

If you do the 2 year contract you make 24 payments of $20 on the bill = $480. Still saving a lot of money on the payment plan which you end up paying $624 for.

Understand what your saying but BB did not say after 24 months the $20 dollar increase would stop.

That's just how the VZW payment plan works...you can also make larger payments if you choose and pay off the phone early, and the monthly fee will go away...
So for instance, you could make $100 payments each month and have the phone paid off before 6 months and then it's yours to do with as you please like you paid retail, and your bill would go back down
Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk

So at bestbuy.com the phone is now $17.67 per month for 24 months, with the projector mod as a free gift. And if you're new Verizon customer you'll get a $200 Best Buy Gift card. Pretty solid deal.

Wow. Lucky!
Off what?
Isnt there 3 of these threads now?
99.
-50 recycle rebate at RS
$49 dollars
I paid $79 with contract
BUT I am grandfathered on a very old unlimited data plan plus 200 SMS for $35.
Also I'm happy with AT&T so why not?

128.99 with contract extension from wal-mart. It was only 99.99 at ATT, but they didn't have any in stock and I wanted one right then
$80 on contract at Costco.

My buddy just picked one up for free with a contract extension. The guy at att said he was a good customer.
$99 on contract (best buy)
Via the XDA app for the HTC Inspire

$90 after taxes but before the $18 upgrade fee from Costco. Includes an accessories bag, which has a belt case, crappy headphones and a working car charger which I was very happy about. This is on contract by the way.
69.99 Amazon with contract.
I want eligible for upgrade, att gave me $249 but added few of accessories and bluetooth. Phone came to $179. I check best buy, best they could was sell me retail.
Note that another att store i went to say $299 for my situation. 2nd att store is $249 befire the extra acc i bought the same time. Didnt hesitate. Although my next upgrade date is 2 years from now. And i still kept the unlimited data plan.
Not bad of a deal afterall, considering that i shelled out $700 for the touch pro wgen it first came out (dumb move)
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
I paid 299 each for them with early upgrades on non data lines, but had them add the phones to the 2 data lines. My kids dont need data on thier lines.
I feel the phone is worth it and i have been waiting a long time for att to get something like this in. Im not sure if im going to keep using the inspire or the dell, yet. But my wife feels better now that she has a real replacement to the EDGE only hd2 she had before the crapdivate she just replaced.
$70 on contract with amazon and new contract but convinced ATT to give me a statement credit because my last phone's screen died three days ago after 10 months, so it was free
...except for the upgrade fee
I might just have to get one off Craigslist but its like 400 bucks.

$49.99 from AT$T , off contract but with a new commitment. It was a knife in my side to " re-up " with AT$T because they suck so bad.
Would have gone to T-mobile, but really wanted this phone. Here's hoping that AT$T bites the dust now that their cash cow ( iPhone ) has been spread a little thinner.

That means that my 2 year contract from my Tilt ended and I was free to take my number to another carrier with no early termination fees to AT$T.
After 18 months AT$T will allow you to upgrade your phone at a discounted price if you sign a new 2 year contract. But you cannot go to another carrier until your contract is up.
I had to sign another 2 year contract, so AT$T will easily make up the cost of the phone by taking everything I own and my first born child in outrageous service/data plans and obnoxious fees. There is a reason they are at the bottom of every customer satisfaction survey. They work hard to be there

T-Mobile vs Amazon vs Wirefly for Upgrades (Tried all 3)

T-Mobile.com:
+ Can keep your plan
- $325 ridiculous up-front cost ($250 + $50 tax + $18 Upgrade Fee + $6 Shipping) (See attached screenshots)
- $50 Mail-In Rebate hassle
- $50 SENSATION50 promo code box doesn't appear for upgrades, wtf??
Amazon:
+ $179.99, No Tax
+ Free 2-Day Shipping
- $35 Activation Fee
- Can't keep your current plan at all, you MUST choose from the new plans
Wirefly:
+ $179.99, No Tax
+ Free FedEx Shipping
- $18 Activation Fee
? There is a "Keep My Plan" option available but what plan options does it keep if forced to choose a new data plan anyway??
Is there a less expensive way to go about it?
And what the heck is this "Activation Fee" if my account is already active, and why is it more expensive on Amazon?
(See attached pictures)
The activation fee is a joke. T-Mobile has to do zero work to get the phone to work on their network. All we need to do is move a sim from one phone into the other. I wonder if they'll waive the fee if you call t-mo?

Wow that sucks.
Let'stalk even paid for the california taxes (which would be $50 since smartphones are taxed the full price of the phone in california), so I only paid a total of $149. Seemed like an awesome deal to me.
You cant go wrong with costco... 199 after rebate, you keep your plan and you can exchange the phone for a new one in the next 90 days.
Got my g2x and after me being very disappointed with it - swaped for the sensation.
Plus, they will match the price if it ever goes down (got my g2x for 200 and got 100 back when they started offering the phone for 99)
So id say -costco has the best deals on cell phones. Ever. And to think that I used to get phones from amazon before....
Good luck in your search!

Unfortunately, they force you into the 5 GB plan no matter what, even if you keep your plan:
And they do charge tax too
And they charge the $18 upgrade fee too (see bottom of picture). They just don't add it to the final price.
So it ends up being almost as much as T-Mobile for a total of $315 (free shipping though at least)
Wait, the SENSATION50 promo code doesn't work for upgrades? What the hell?

Try your local Costco, its different when you deal with a live person. They tried to sell me the 5GB, but they couldnt. I said that that would be the day that i move to ATT, cause thats the only thing keeping me with tmobile, since their signal at my house is just... missing in action
So try the local store, they can work with you better than the website.

I think the 149 upgrade price expired yesterday.
I asked T-Mobile about the promotion and the rep didn't seem to have a clue about it...
~Tracy W: I am not finding anything in regards to a promotion code, what I would recommend is calling our sales department at 1-800-672-5390
I asked a rep from Amazon and they said that you can keep your $10 data plan and you don't actually need the $30 one.. you can switch it at any time.
Also, I think you clicked 'new plan' instead of existing plan, I get a different checkout page.. see attachment
Hey Paul you should try checking craigslist. I got mine brand new for $365 yesterday. Might be worth a shot instead of paying up to 325 and having to use your upgrade.
Nope, got mine using my full upgrade today for 148.88 + tax at walmart. but the deal only works I'm store though I think.

The new price plans are equivalent to the old "even more plus" plan. Except with a 2yr contract now. Existing customers that had service for @ least 90 days can switch to these plans..the big difference is you lose out your discounted upgrade when eligible..phones are purchased at full retail price with the option to finance the phone by adding $10-$15 a month on your bill..same goes for new activations.

You can change plans anytime you want, and it won't affect your 2 year contract or upgrade eligibility. You do need to keep a data plan if you are on contract with a smart phone, otherwise the lowest cost plan available will hold up your end of a contract.
I know where I am going on monday. I just got my phone in the middle of June so there should not be an issue with me getting this plan.
Actually, this is my plan, just 20 bucks cheaper now.
Yeh, thanks for posting this. I just signed up on the 13th of June, and this new plan offers me the same that I have now for $20 less. Unlimited talk, text, and data, throttled after 2GB/month. I will be looking for customer service next week.
I could switch, but my 5GB before throttle would go down to 2GB, not that it matters now because I'm stuck on 2G, but if I move... I might miss that extra 3GB, but is it worth $20 more?
T-Mobile is set to announce Wednesday that it plans to cut the price of its smartphone plans. Most significantly, its mid-tier plan--which includes unlimited phone calls, text messages, and data--drops by $20 to $59.99 a month. In comparison, Sprint's comparable plan--which includes unlimited data, text, and calls to other cell phones--costs $69.99 a month.
For heavier data users, T-Mobile offers a $74.99 plan with an allotment of 5 gigabytes of data before throttling, which is $15 less than before. It also offers a lower-end, data-less plan for $49.99 with unlimited phone calls and text messages. That plan was previously $65. If you choose to pay for the phone through monthly installments, you can sign up for a 200-megabyte data option for $5 a month. Traditional contract customers can get the same option for $10 a month. The plans will be available on July 24.

Ah let's see. I'm paying $80 now for 1500 minutes, unlimited texts, 5 GB of data
With the new plan:
unlimited minutes, unlimited texts, 2GB data for $60
unlimited minutes, unlimited texts, 5GB data for $75
Wow, even switching to the new plan at 5GB is cheaper! I might as well switch to 2GB until my city gets 3G then up to 5GB later...
Is there any catch to these new plans?
so basically if we bought our phones on the $79.99 deal and did not have to pay full price, we will have to pay for the phone in full but will get $20 less per month in monthly bill?

I am on the 5gig plan but check it, prepaid. 70 bucks. Have been on this plan since i bought my phone used online back in june. prepaid plans are comin up in the world. no more pay by the minute. I get unlimited everything with 5gig 4g cap. beautiful. been on tmo prepaid for about 3 years now starting way back with flexpay. its worked out great for me
so in all actuallity you can go and just buy a prepaid sim card and hop on the plan right now if you wanted to.

This is not correct. I just finished dealing with the retentions department on the phone (and this can be confirmed if you go online and try to change your plan to the Value Unlimited Plan). If you change to the Value plan, you are charged $200 migration fee on your next bill, which accounts for the difference in price for the phone.
I argued for 15 minutes that I HAD a brand new phone, but that since it was so problematic, the retentions department rep sent me a replacement phone...never said it was a refurbished model. And that when I went to update it the other day, it refused to update...so I called LG and it was confirmed that my DWP model is a factory refurbished model. I argued that I should not have to pay $200 for the difference in price for a brand new phone, since I have a refurb. She came back after several minutes and offered to put me on the new value plan starting next month if I meet them halfway and agree to pay $100 instead of the $200. I was tired of arguing and went ahead and agreed. I figured $20 less per month for 24 months is worth a lot more than $100 today. She was telling me that the biggest problem with them agreeing to move me over for free was that I'm such a new customer...I haven't built up any "tenure". So if you have been with T-mobile for much longer, I suppose it's possible for you to argue your way to a free migration.
Anyway, I'm satisfied with the deal.
So, being I signed up for a new plan on June 21st, I will have to pay 200 dollars to switch from paying 80 a month for unlimited talk, text, and 2GB data to the 60 plan that is the exact same thing, just 20 bucks less?

Yes, I just signed up June 13th for the same plan you did. But since I took the discounted price for the phone and signed the 2 year contract, when I wanted to switch to this cheaper version of the same plan today, they asked me for the difference of the cost of the phone...$200. I feel fortunate to have gotten the deal for $100 instead. It's still a great savings overall.
I agree. I will still do it, that is for sure.

Well called T-mobile about this plan and this is what they told me i could do. Since im a new customer i can do either these options:
Pay 59.99 Unlimited everything, BUT charged extra 5-15 dollars(depending on phone) and pay full price of phone in monthly installments over 20 month period.
Buy a phone off ebay, CL, or Pay full price in store of any phone and then i just get charged just 59.99
Or sign up for a "Regular contract" and pay 79.99 and buy phone of choice(discounted 2yr agreement price) And they run credit check to see if their is a deposit.
So many choices idk which one i should do? lol
Ok. I see uncertainty so I will try to address them all in this post. The new plans are great.. No matter how you look at them you are always going to come out in the positive in the long run. Unlimited Talk, Text, and Unlimited web with 2 GB of high speed data is $59.99. You will have to sign a new 2 Year contract. If you are on the Even More Plus plan you CANNOT come over onto the new plan (I know a loop hole). If you currently are on T-mobile and are in contract you will have to pay a migration fee that ranges from $200-0 depending on your current tenure. 18+ months will not have to pay a migration fee. On the new plans you must purchase your phone at the full retail but many will have EIP (Equipment Installment Plan) which will allow them to break the payments over a period of 21 months (If done at the store first payment will be at the store so that will make it 20 months).
For a family plan for 2 Lines Unlimited Talk, Text, and 2 GB of high speed web it will cost 99.99!!! That is super cheap. The same applies to a family plan as an individual. On the Even more plans it used to cost $179.99 ($80 savings) and compared to the classic plans $139.99, you save $40. Think about it..
Compared to the classic plan it is cheaper to be on the value plan on the long run. If you purchased 2 sensations (I chose this because its the most expensive phone I have) that makes is $550 x 2 = $1,100. If you take $40 savings x 24 months = $960 in rate plan. On the classic plan you still have to purchase the phones at $200 x 2 = $400. So for the value plan over 2 years take 99.99 x 24 (months) + $1,100 for phones = $3,500. While the classic plan will cost you 139.99 x 24 (months) + $400 (for the phone with MIR applied) = $3,760.
For 5 Lines Unlimited Talk Text and web 2 GB high speed on the value plan cost $205. Compared to the classic it will cost $290. 5 sensation on the value plan will cost $2750 while on the Classic it will cost $1000.
Value plan: $205 x 24 + $2750 = $7670.
Classic plan: $290 x 24 + $1000 = $7960.

i don't not see this on their website? also do you know if you already have a plan with them for 2 months, do you still have to pay the full price for the phone? for me they did a price match.

Costco the way to go!!!

Walking into T-mo store, I was thinking the the Sensation is $199 with two year contract. Well it was $249 after mail in rebate. So I would have to pay $299 plus tax... Is that what they really are at every T-mo store? They were also telling me this deal where I pay $249 plus tax but I pay $10 a month for the phone for 20 months? That sounded ridiculous honestly.
That was just too much for me so I hit up my local costco and they have it for $129 after $50 mail in rebate.
They also give you a free bluetooth earpiece, leather case, and car charger on any new phone. Costco is the ****tt!!! BTW, their MT4Gs are 29.99. damn costco gots the hookup!!!
The $10 a month thing comes with a lower service plan cost.

One benefit of costco is that you can return your phone within 90 days and get a full refund or use it as a credit for another phone.
I am holding on to the sensation until the galaxy S II comes out. If I dont like the galaxy SII i can always go back to the sensation.
Oh how the times have changed.
I paid 149.99 for mine at Virgin Mobile Canada, no contract, phone on tab.
costco has a different phone on special each week. last week here the costco had the mytouch for free the galaxy 4g for 30. if you just wait to see when the phone goes on special you get a hell of a deal and if you get it then next week your phone goes lower you can ask for the price difference back with in the first 30 days. the Only down fall is they have different pricing for new contracts and upgrades.
I wasn't fully upgrade eligible, so my only reasonable choice was to go through T-Mobile. My.tmobile.com and the T-Mobile retail location bother wanted $329 before rebate + tax + upgrade fee. It would have cost like $375 up front and I'd get $50 back in the mail. I called customer loyalty and they gave it to me for $199 + tax, no rebate necessary and waived the upgrade fee and shipping cost. Total I paid $136 up front and the other $100 split over my next 3 months bills. In all I saved about $150 by calling. I didn't have to complain or threaten to cancel or anything like that.

My sister and brother inlaw both got theirs at target for $99 actually my brother inlaw traded his rooted hd2 in got a 105 back for it so he pretty much walked out with a free sensation.. in total they paid about 100 something for both phones.. I was shocked.. no rebates no nothing just a family 2 year contract
thanks for the heads up on target,, confirmed im picking one up tomorro in the store for 99....no extra fees just the "upgrade" fee (which i will try to get tmo to waive bc its ridiculous)... they also have a trade in option... I have an old blackberry 8900 curve they are going to give me $40 for.. In all, I will walk out with a new sensation for $60 !!!! crazy deal
by the way, the deal is only thru the 30th
Bought mine from Costco too for all the same reasons mentioned in this post....great price ($249 + $30 tax = $279 - $50 mail-in rebate for a grand total of $229), free accessories and 90 day return policy. Sweet! Right? Well, I went to Walmart a few weeks later and saw the phone advertised for $149 w/ the same 2-year contract renewal...and NO mail-in rebate needed to get this price. Seeing how I don't use the free bluetooth or leather case that Costco packaged w/ the phone, I would have much preferred to walk out of Walmart w/ the phone for $80 less. (boo-hoo) Oh well, you live and learn to shop around 1st.

$249+ 30 tax is a bit high for Costco... You must have bought yours right when it came out?
I hope I'm not off topic here but, I purchased mine through Walmart.com (aka let's talk) for $139, no activation fees and no shipping fees.

Can you still purchase phones subsidized with Sprint on grandfathered plan?

I currently have a Galaxy Note 4 with Sprint. When I originally purchased this phone, I paid $299 with a 2 year contract with a grandfathered unlimited data plan. Now, all of the advertised purchase options for phones are to do monthly payments. Can you still purchase a phone subsidized if you are on a grandfathered plan?
Thanks

Sprint advised me when i preordered my S8+ that the 2 year upgrades are done. Options are lease, 24 month payments, or but outright. Kind of sucks but you do get a$10/ month credit as an existing customer so my 24 month payments are like $25. That means I get the phone for like 650 instead of 850.

What are you talking about? There is no 10$ per month for the 24 months of a 24 month credit. What you be taking about is not there.
It is there. I'm on the SERO plan and I get $15/ month bill credit if I upgrade using lease or installment billing.

Sorry brother, I think VZ will give you a LG 43 inch TV if you go with them but that's for the LG G6 on 24 mo plan. But I haven't seen a thing on this phone and I believe subbing is dead because of no contract carrier aggregation. Every year I upgrade cash up front purchase for the new phone and if I'm unhappy I'll sell it on Swappa and move on. This way I'm not stuck and will always upgrade to whatever I want usually it costs me a couple hundred but that's nothing considering the benefits. Hope this helps.

It seems it varies from type of plan. I've got a unlimited data plan from like 6 or 8 years ago with 4 lines and the other guy has a SERO plan.
I think the credit is do to trying to equalize what you are already paying in phone subsidies built into your existing plan.

That's a BS. Cancel your order and get it directly from Samsung. Pay the full price or installments, call Sprint and activate your new device on your old plan.
I was able to pre-order the Galaxy S8/S8+ for $299/$399 on my grandfathered unlimited data plan on a business account.
Okay heres the skimmy.
If your on a business account, you still have the option for 2 year agreements. Thats buisness plan perk.
Regular OLD plans, like the Sero, Everything Data, some times the old unlimited plans, will get whats called a Loyalty lease credit. Which can be 10 -15 dollars depending on the device. You get that because of the fact that your on an older plan. No store, and now even customer care and online are supposed to offer a 2 year unless you're on business.
Depending on your plan, changing to an newer unlimted plan is usually cheaper anyway. one line on 1500 everything is 130 bucks...so not worth it.
Subsidized plans are done for all carriers.
2 year contracts are a thing of the past. If you have certain older plans you can get a $10 bill credit on your installment billing. Sprint brought back the Galaxy Forever plan where you can upgrade every year on an 18 month lease, however the phone has to be in good working condition with you turn it back in. You have the option the buy the phone after the lease term for a couple hundred dollars or so. Only benefit of lease is not having to pay the taxes when you pick up your phone, as it gets spread out of over the 18 months on your bill. I would just pre-order from Best Buy on installment billing and get the S8+ for $100 off. There are only a handful of older plans that are eligible for the bill credit. If you happen to have that plan you will be getting an S8+ for a total of $510 after credits and $100 pre-order promotion.
I have the available $10 a month bill credit which would be $240 over the life of the phone ... debating on this or the $150 Sam's club gift card

I have a tax free business account and no shipping so that's another $95 in savings
i just ordered the lg g6 (for the wife) and the s8+ for me. sprint rep said no more 24 month payments...just 18 month leasing only, then either trade in or buy out the rest. now on spring site i do only see leasing on the s8+, but on the lg g6..it shows 24 month payments. she said it literally changed that day...4/21. dont trust what she says....she also told me if i didnt do the updates on the s8+, the software would destroy itself...lol.
but can anyone confirm this?

The LG G6 is not on a lease. It's onlyu Easy Pay/ 24month installments. S8s are able to be leased as of right now.

From what I understand as long as you're on a qualifying legacy plan, you will get a back office credit of 10 a month for just having it on a lease or installment agreement. If not call in and make sure they apply the promo to the line.
So you would get both. The card is from Sam's club, the promo is through sprint.
