[Q] External Camera?

Looking for ideas here. I have been searching around and not coming up with anything that is working..
I need to get a camera mounted to the rear of a commercial vehicle and be able to take a picture from this camera with a third party data collection program. Does anyone out there know how to get a tablet to allow this? The camera that is currently mounted and working (just not with our new tablet based hardware) has it's own power source but I still get the "high powered device..cannot connect" error when I try and connect it to the tablet.
I am open to any suggestions.
Thanks
The easiest way it to probably have an ip camera with those functionalities and use an ip camera program. While your tab is the hotspot.
Something else to try is to get a powered usb hub in the loop and see if that will supply the usb power needed. The same thing happens when you plug an external hard drive into a keyboard usb port.
I've read on a few external devices to install the USB otg cable first then the product...no idea why this makes a difference but try it anyway

could a bluetooth camera work?

My only dissapointment is that there is no camera on the shield. I use skype and hangouts sometimes to keep in touch with family. I imagine something would have to added in to the system for this to work? I was thinking of using one of those clip-on bluetooth cameras.
Ps. Crap sorry I meant to post this in the question section
you would probably have better luck with a USB camera, you can get a USB host cable that connects to the micro USB of the shield (or any other android device) and allows you to plug in USB devices.
Whether android will work with a USB webcam or not though I dont have a clue

Front DVR F Cam app

Hi, just connected the front DVR on my KGL unit, all working well but it doesn’t show up on the f cam app when I select front camera?. Any idea how to do this?. Reverse cam does.
Also any one having an issue that after you use an sd card in the head unit your windows laptop thinks it’s now write protected?. Just had another new 32gb card busted after I’ve put it in my laptop to format to use in an other device.
Changed the storage to the flash and the jerking has now stopped
did you solve this? Im having an issue with F-CAM APP I have a warning image in both cameras... front and rear...
I can't even find the F-CAM app on Play store anymore. The one with the camera lens avatar.
F-Cam shows the image of a Cam connected to the usb ports
if you are connecting the camera to AVIN wires, it will show in the AVIN mode
Hope this helps

Android UVC/USB Camera Replacement

Hello everyone -- I'm wondering if anyone has any experience replacing a built-in front-facing camera on any android device with a UVC/USB webcam. What I want to do is build a custom app that works on a regular android phone where I can use the camera1 or camera2 apis to get access to camera data from a USB webcam I have. I of course know that on this site there are many guides for replacing cameras on various android devices using manufactured replacements (sometimes non-OEM), but I am trying to figure out if there is any android device and some sort of adapter where I could plug into the front-facing cameras MIPI/CSI port but have it be able to plug into some kind of webcam/uvc/usb signal. It would be pretty sweet if you could plug in "arbtrary" webcams that support UVC and have an Android phone read this as a normal camera signal that could be processed with the Android Camera APIs!

Question Problem with camera app in dex mode.

Hello, I often use Samsung Dex with my s22ultra (using wifi). The problem is with the "Camera" app. It is very limited, no zoom, no resolution options. Anyone have a solution? Maybe some other video app?
Are you using the front or back camera? The front (selfie) camera doesn't zoom, nor can you change the resolution.
I try use back camera... and i cant zoom or change anything options.
What is your setup? How are you connecting to the monitor/TV, and how are you controlling your phone? Wired? Wireless? Are you using a keyboard and mouse?
To my knowledge, you can't display DeX on your phone itself, it has to be connected to an external display like a TV or monitor.

I connect phone with laptop via wireless. On laptop use keyboard and mouse. I can only change cam (front - back), options photo - video. Nothing more.

Ok. I presume you are using the Samsung DeX app on your laptop and that your laptop is a Windows machine.
I will try it today. I expect that I will get the same results.
To be honest, I don't think there are any other camera/video apps that would do what you want while in DeX. At least not any that would work with the phone's cameras. DeX was not really designed to be used in that way. It was intended to be a laptop/desktop replacement solution.
Why are you needing to be able to have back camera control while using DeX? Just curious.

Ok. So I have the same limitation. When I run the camera app from DeX I can only switch between front and back cameras. No zoom control.
However, if I connect via Link to Windows and then control the phone from Phone Link, I have complete control of the camera. I connected using Phone Link wirelessly.
So, if you want complete control of your phone from your laptop, connect your phone via Link to Windows and then use Phone Link to control it.
