Hello,
I'm planning to do some dev stuffs in mobile's accessories hardware.
My idea is :
- I need an Android software install on my phone (actually I'm using HD2 running Android 2.2). For example : My software is simply a textbox with one button. When I click on the button, the software get the textbox content, encode it in to binary signal and send it toward the USB port of my phone
- I will make a circuit board to handle that binary signal, with a micro processor chip, I can convert that signal and show it on a LCD the content which I have just sent from my phone
I have some experience in Android software programming, but I'm stuck in sending signal through USB port in Android? So may someone here can help me with an example? or an suggestion of the library which I can use to open USB port?
Thanks in advance for your help
Did you get this to work? I am planning to use that same approach for controlling a PIC circuit that is connected via USB to the phone.
Unfortunately, I did not work it out =((
same problem
i have the same problem, i have to send a file by usb port. Im using ttyACM0 but its not working =/
Hi folks, apologies in advance if I've posted this in the wrong place.
I'm newish to smartphones and Android, although I've been a successful business software developer on mainframes and PCs for decades. I'm looking for good advice and/or directions to good advice regarding my phone:
Model: Samsung Galaxy 3 GT-i5800
Firmware version: 2.1 update 1
Baseband version: I5800XXJG3
Build number: ECLAIR.XWJH7
This phone has been liberated from Vodafone, and I'm now using Yoigo as my service provider.
I have 2 problems that I'd like to resolve:
The first problem is that the USB connection to PC (Kies or otherwise) does not work. The USB icon does not appear, or if it does, then it does not disappear upon cable removal. Samsung Kies can't find it, so in order to load music or retrieve photos or whatever, I must open it up and remove the Mini SD card.
I've read somewhere else about fixing the USB problem using the code *#7284# but I simply get a "Rejected" message. Perhaps that means that the device is not "rooted", which is another subject I want to explore.
The second problem, which I hope may be fixed just by fixing the USB issue, is that I would like to use USB tethering to supply an Internet connection to my laptop when I'm out & about, away from a free WiFi. I've installed EasyTether Lite on the phone and the corresponding client software on the PC, but they don't seem to communicate. I assume it's down to the USB problem above. Even so, perhaps there's a better way to achieve a good tether connection for this device?...
All thoughts, advice, pointers etc will be very welcome.
Cheers, James
Hi,
You should try the usb cable in another port.
You should root your phone and get proper drivers.
For the second problem you can use PdaNet.
Hope it helped .
Hi.
I recently bought chinesse device that connects via bluetooth with android phone / tablet. Since there is no application availible for windows / linux I want to create one for personal usage.
Usually phone connects to the device and exchanges some data. I connected PC to the device and looked into serial debugger and menaged to discover the protocol (one way only). Phone sends only one command to the device. But this time I'm not able to find out what it containts.
Is there any software that will allow me to look into data sent via bluetooth? I tried decompiling the app, but it looks really unfriendly.
Thanks.
Hello XDA-developers,
I bought a new tablet a few days ago and have a slight problem regarding the Mac Address. It keeps changing after turning on wifi every time.
I found mutliple answers to similar problems but they didn't work for this specific tablet.
Now, I need to know if there is a way to change it to a static Mac Address, it uses Lollipop 5.1 and I rooted it using KingoRoot for Windows.
I just made some search for myself and found a file called "setmacaddr" (without extension). I don't know if it's just a thing every tablet has or if it is the problem.
If you need more information about the tablet, don't hesitate asking me!
Sincerely,
Marvin
EDIT:
I rooted this tablet because it had the problem when it was not rooted. I needed to root it for the methods I tried till now. (Like I said, they didn't work)
Hello, it's me again,
does anybody have a clue at least what I can try to do?
Would help me very much!
Solution:
I solved the problem in a slighty different way.
I know this is not the best way but maybe someone just needs a similar solution!
I bought a USB 2.0 -OTG ethernet adapter² and connected it with the switch next to my pc, which is connected to the router. Thus, you are able to have stable internet connection without minding your MAC-Address in most of the time (like 99,9%). Of course, your tablet only gets internet while plugged into it, so you may only do this if your tablet remains in nearly the same place or if you are able to quickly wire it different.
² can't post the link to the product because I'm a new user. Any USB-2.0 OTG ethernet adapter should work, it just needs a micro usb otg plug.
Hello:
I have two questions for the users of Tecno phones.
My first question has to do with registering on the Tecno forum.
I've found it impossible to register, because when I attempt it, I find two captcha fields. The captcha can only be filled out in one box.
If I fill in the captcha in to the other box it is invalidated.
I thought the other box is for verification. But no verification code is sent to my phone number.
So, the question is: what am I doing wrongly. What exactly is the problem.
The second issue is this:
I've just obtained a Tecno Pop3 phone, running Android Oreo 8.01.
I found in the specification information for the phone that it has OTG technology.
I also learnt from another source that the OTG can be enabled by going to the settings and then conective devices. Here I find only bluetooth and the name of the phone, Tecno Pop3. I don't find anything that says eanable OTG.
I also found out again that it can be enabled by going to more settings. Unfortunately, I cannot find the more settings menu anywhere on the phone.
So, please how can I then enable OTG on my phone, so that I can connect my USB keyboard to it and type.
I hope my questions are clear, and are well understood.
Please do kindly respond to both questions.
Thanks for your help.

If phone supports USB OTG out of the box - what depends on various factors (e.g. Android/Kernel version, availability of USB OTG drivers, hardware support), then it should be enabled by default.
If not then take note that phone's Android must be rooted to change this.
