I had the same problem. My s6310N had S6310NXXAMK1 and I couldn't install CWM or TWRP. Then I just downloaded S6310NXXAMD1 firmware from Sammobile (LINK) and installed it with ODIN. Then I was able to install CWM.

Flash the stock firmware via ODIN
To root your device:
Flash PhilZ CWM (custom recovery) via ODIN
Flash SuperSU via PhilZ CWM
flash stock firmware via ODIN,
and also cmw file ie a tar file via ODIN.
use unlockroot.com and download the software to root or a cwm flashable superuser zip file.

Yup, had the exact same problem, TWRP is just not officially supported for marshmallow yet. You don't have to flash the entire rom again, just open up the firmware file you extracted and look for 'recovery.img', just flash that through Odin like normal and your phone should be fine

What TWRP did you get it working with?
Hi Experts,
I have some experience on flashing phones and custom roms but in this case i'm lost.
Can't find a way to install CWM or TWRP, i have tried flashing with Odin and also tried to install via the CWM/TWRP app.
After flashing recovery with CWM/TWRP app the phone becomes bricked and i get a Verizon message "secure fail: kernel system software is not authorized by verizon..."
If i try to flash recovery with Odin in download mode it will result in an error: FAIL! (Auth)
And from the stock recovery i cant flash as well which make sense.
* Phone is 4.2.2
* Root was made with towelroot.apk > manual install of SU and confirmed with root checker (Other root methods did not worked for me).
Please help!

Simple, your bootloader is locked. 4.4.2 can be rooted but that's it. You can run a safestrap recovery & flash TW ROMs only.
?Oct-M d2att KrAkEn Kernel?
I had used safestrap, Cant flash... because it said cant mount system...

Here's the safestrap thread and no the only "custom" roms you can use/flash via safestrap are stock, Superlite and Paul pizz

If have already installed old twrp and want to install a newer version you can install it by this zip file using the old recovery then reboot
And if you want to install it for the first time you must use odin
The newest version is now available for Galaxy j7
https://twrp.me/devices/samsunggalaxyj7exynos.html
The file leads to a 404 link.
Hey everyone. I attempted to root my J7 perx following the instructions I seen in the Twrp forum, only issue is now I have twrp but when trying to flash a rom or magisk I get the error : /system cannot be mounted (device or resources busy). Now I'm unable to flash anything or obtain root, any ideas?

Sorry you have to go back to stock firmware an start again ! caming from stock firmware you have to go into stock recovery an do a factory reset before installing twrp ! An in odin you have to unclick auto reboot in options an pull battery an boot rite into twrp an flash supersSU then reboot system !
OK here is a link for the firmware you are going to need the AP,BL,CP,an the CSC . files from the link !
