Rom wont boot [S4][H2.15] - HTC One S

Hello,
I tried to install the rom : Candy5 v2.5.3 using TWRP 2.84 (Hboot 2.15, One S4)
The installation is a success but when I reboot the device, it load infinitely (black screen) and nothing happens
I also tried with the candy5 v4.1-skyrocket but the recovery cant extract the file (signature and MD5 off)
I did a full wipe (Dalvik Cache, Cache, System, Factory Data Reset)
To access the bootloader, I need to wait till the battery is empty and then charge the device and press Power+Down.
NB : I'm using the Venom Rom (android 4.1), working good and got a backup file of it. I need a Rom with android 5+ to run a specific application.
Any solution ? I'm kinda a 'newbie' on this and I'm unable to see what's wrong.
Thx
EDIT : I upgrade my TWRP into 3.0.2, same problem

I fixed the problem with :
- Flashing Gapps & SU (just add some apps, I dont think that was useful)
- Flashing boot.img (from candy5)

How to install ROM ViperoneS

I´am dificults in install this rom --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2105863
Please help me , i´m afraid do anything wrong.
Its not difficult to do its as simple as:
Download rom and boot img script
Place Rom on phone storage
Boot into recovery
Back-up current in case something goes wrong
Factory reset in recovery
Then wipe system
Then wipe caches
Find the Rom on sdcard
Flash it install without wipe ( install with wipe will give you problems)
Reboot into bootloader put phone into fastboot mode, by now you should have phone connected to pc and it should display fastboot mode on bootloader screen
Run boot img flash script from your pc (don't place boot img script on the phone, it flashes the boot img for you from computer by running commands) then reboot back into recovery and wipe caches once more then reboot and enjoy... that's it.
Not hard just follow instructions and you should be good to go and if you run into any problems just let us know and we'll help you fix it

Yes you can use Hasoon's AIO kit to flash the boot img, The flash script does the same thing using cmd prompt windows
once you start to flash the rom in your recovery Aroma installer (built in) will start and guide you through the whole process
Good luck

have you flashed the boot img?
Don't use the new TWRP but use 2.3.3.3 or other "stable" releases to flash!
By chance do you have a s3 variant if so then there may be the problem, if not then try an older stable release of a recovery to flash it

When you double click that script, you have to be on your bootloader screen in fastboot USB mode.

HTC Wildfire S camcorder working on 4.4.2

Hello,
I just wanted to let you guys know that I've got my camcorder working on HTC wildfire S with Kitkat 4.4.2.
I've used Cyanogenmod 11.0 by Marvel, gapps linked in the post and INT2EXTV2+
Actually I wanted to post this at that particular thread itself, but I was blocked from doing so as I'm new here.
If any recognised guy/developer reads this, please post this information on this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2735775
so that it may help the developers in improving the ROM.
Steps I followed:
1. Wipe/factory reset, wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache.(In Philz Recovery, we have two options for wipe/factory reset, I've selected 2nd option).
1. Install ROM and INT2EXTV2+, then reboot.
2. I noticed one thing here, i.e., when I normally reboot my phone, it gives FC and other errors. But when I connect my phone to PC and reboot, surprisingly it works without a problem or issue. (I don't know why).
3. Now my camera, camcorder works.
4. Then goto recovery, install given gapps in the link, reboot. (Again I kept my phone connected to PC or I was getting fc, errors and bootloop).
5. Wait for a while after boot and again reboot it. (Same again. Keep your phone connected to PC).
6. Done. I got my phone with working camcorder on Kitkat 4.4.2.
Note1: Remember this as it was mandatory in my case. Keep your phone connected to PC all the time until you finish the whole process.
Note2: I succeeded with Philz Recovery only. I already checked with other recoveries and they were not working.

tf300t no stable boot

Hello guys,
i am little bit new into custom ROMs but i think that i've learned the basics. To my problem. I've followed the guides to unlock tablet, flash TWRP and I've flashed ROM to KatKiss - Nougatella #013. First boot and every other boot looks similar to me. I see the Asus default screen and it looks like it is in a boot loop but if i keep it in it sometimes i see the Timduru animation and then again it starts from begining. I left it in this state all night and when i woke up i saw that the system is booted in first initial setup. With Nougatella i was not able to finish this initial setup as some Google aps constatnly fails.
So i wiped/formated everything and tryed KatKiss - KatshMallow #029. Again there was similar boot loop but if i keep it for some time it was booted and in this case i was able to set everything and run the tablet in normal way. Problem here is that if i reboot its again in a boot loop for couple hours until it boots correctly.
If i flash back the stock ROM everything is booting fine.
Thank you in advance for any advice how to solve this and sorry for my english.

Do you have Kang TWRP 2.8.7.2 and did you follow exactly the install instruction in each post #1 especially flashing Rom, Gapps and SuperSU in one run?
Plus: Did you format data in TWRP prior to flashing the Rom? Sounds almost as if you flashed right on top of stock.
Did you flash the Pico gapps - no other gapps version?
Changing the file system on /data to f2fs also will help
Sent from my K00C using Tapatalk
Yes, i got Kang TWRP 2.8.7.2 and followed the instructions. Wipe/format flash, set /data filesystem to f2fs, flashed ROM then SuperSU and Gaps Pico (or the version which is recommended in KatKiss thread) Wipe cache/dalvik and then reboot.

Did you really flash "OpenGapps ARM 7.1 Pico" ? If not, try again after format /data.

Maybe it was not PICO but NANO, anyway if i fix the initial setup problem with this I think that the problem with booting will be the same as i got in KatKiss - KatshMallow #029.

I'm sorry, but you might be right in general. However there seems to be something hidden you didn't take care of. For instance KatshMallow #029 needs OpenGapps ARM 6.0 and KatKiss - Nougatella #13 needs OpenGapps ARM 7.1.
As you mentioned you switched between 6.0 and 7.1. Did you everytime make a "clean install" and also switched gapps?
Install Rom, Gapps and SuperSU in one run means use the possibility of Kang TWRP to add them all for one install. After that wipe dalvik and reboot by TWRP. Did you do so?
Please find out where you failed perhaps and try to run a clean reinstall following Timduru's instruction very carefully step by step.
BTW, your device runs on stock without issues as you mentioned. That's a great evidence that's it OK.

Yes when i switched to KatshMallow i've formated and wiped everything again and used the packages that Timduru is suggesting in his thread for 6.0 ROM. I did not used the TWRP option to link the .zip installs into one run but i run it one by one without restart(Pressed Install, choosed ROM.zip file, after successfull end i've pressed back button and choosed install SuperSU.zip, Gapps.zip and after that wiped dalvik and reboot). I will try it once more with linked install into one run if this makes some difference.
Ok here is my procedure :
booted into TWRP [email protected]
wipe/format : factory reset, /data, /system, cache and dalvik cache
changed /data to f2fs
pushed through adb these zip files: KatKiss-6.0_TF300T_029, BETA-SuperSU-v2.52, open_gapps-arm-6.0-pico-20161125
installed in this order : ROM, SuperSU, Gapps
wipe dalvik/cache
reboot
now its in a boot loop where the asus screen with 'the device is unlocked' si changing with black screen(30minutes allready). I will keep it in this state to see if it boots to ROM as last time.

Bad luck! I have no idea at that time, because I have never flashed this zip files through adb. I always used TWRP and never had any issues. Lets wait for berndblb if he has an idea.
Could you start into TWRP? If yes, meanwhile you could try to roll back the whole process using sole TWRP.
There's an error somewhere in your procedure. If the tablet runs fine on stock it will run fine on this rom.
I don't like this line, sounds unclear...

Too many people mix up wipes and formats... You format only data, not factory reset, not wipe - you format it ext4, then convert it to f2fs. Formatting in TWRP takes 1 hour +. If it went faster you did not format.
So break down your steps further for us. Details please.
If that process was ok, you are messing up some other place. Delete all the files you have been working with and download them again. Take your time, make sure you get the right one and then check the md5
ok last time it booted to initial setup after couple hours but on reboot it was back in boot loop. Now iam doing everything once more and here is detailed procedure:
Boot to recovery TWRP 2.8.7.2.
Wipe - swipe to factory reset
Wipe - format data - typed yes to continue
Wipe - advanced wipe - select cache, dalvik, system (just to be sure)
Wipe - advanced wipe - select data - change filesystem to f2fs
Reboot(just in case, trying this step for first time)
Boot to recovery TWRP
from computer through adb pushed the zip files
Install - KatKiss-6.0_TF300T_029.zip - MD5 matched
Install - BETA-SuperSU-v2.52 - no md5 found
Install - open_gapps-arm-6.0-pico-20161205 - MD5 matched
Wipe cache/dalvik
Reboot system
Looks like that its in a same boot loop as always. 1 of 100(my guess) boot attempts is finished with successful boot. In rest it ends on Asus logo or sometimes it get stuck on Timduru animation.
You seem to be doing everything right... Scratching my head here.... What's your bootloader version?

I agree with you, he did really a good job. The bootloader is also correct.
However Kang TWRP is a very strong tool. I swear on it. So I would roll back the whole process using TWRP only. That means to put the zip files (Rom, SuperSU and Gapps) on the extern SD card and run the whole succession step by step using TWRP only.
Whatever it takes. It's worth to try.

That inspires an idea. Load the Rom files on a microSD and flash them from there. Maybe the adb push is doing something screwy....

first, thank you guys, that you are still trying to help me
I installed the files from sd card without adb. At first it looked promising. After first reboot i saw some progress bar(not sure if i just did not noticed that before) but it was really fast, then black screen for a while and Katkiss logo. But now its back in boot loop, my personal feeling is that now i see more often the Katkiss logo then before but still its not booting correctly.
Just a note, not sure that matters but i got stock rom there before flashing.

Great job, however it is an exceptional situation. In my opinion only a developer could help. So please open the Terminal Emulator (recommend Jack Palevich version) and run the following two commands:
Code: su
Code: logcat
Save the file and send it with a kind note to Timduru. Maybe he can figure out the reason for your issue, because it is of general interest.
To run a terminal app the darn thing would need to boot! :cyclops:
First of all, the brief blue bar during first boot is the kernel being written to the boot partition - that is normal.
Just like everything is normal with you - except that it doesn't work! I have a similar situation at my job with our behemoth of a booking software and I solved that today - I think....
And then I come home to this! You're killing me!
You could try to run a logcat in adb. You did say that eventually it sometimes boots, right?
I just tried it on my 700, the kernel does not seem to support running a logcat of the boot process. No return whatsoever before Android is booted.
If you want to try that, get it to boot and then run
Code:
adb logcat
if you want to watch the log in the cmd window. Even better is
Code:
adb logcat > logcat.txt
.
That creates a text file in your adb folder which you can then post somewhere where a kind soul may take it look at it. I will, but I'm lousy at reading logs...
To stop capturing the log hit Ctrl+c
So stock runs fine but both Katkiss N and M won't. Mhhhhh
Try this: Format data one more time and this time leave it ext4 and flash the rom again. The rom supports data on ext4 and should run fine. Not as well as on f2fs but it should run.
If it does run on ext4 something may be wrong with TWRP's f2fs conversion. Maybe.....
Edit: You know, that may be it. I just googled "problems TWRP 2.8.7.2 f2fs" and found some indicators on github that there were some quirky things going on. Interestingly enough your version of the recovery is not even on Teamwin's website anymore. Which is another very good hint that you probably don't want to use it. Download the latest TWRP from here: https://dl.twrp.me/tf300t/
Flash it in fastboot, reboot once, then reboot to recovery and start the whole process again.
And you better report success this time!! :highfive:

First of all I would like to note that in my point of view TWRP 2.8.7.2 and Kang TWRP [email protected] are two different things. Kang TWRP made by Josh ( lj50036 Recognized Contributor) is still recommended by Timduru for KatKiss Rom. It was never for download shown on the general TWRP site. The mentioned issues on github however stand directly in reference to TWRP 2.8.7.2.
On the other hand I would like to mention that there were many problems in the past by using TWRP 3.0 and this Rom especially with F2FS . So I have warned several times to use TWRP 3.0 instead of Kang TWRP.
PS: Genuine Kang TWRP download with md5: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347781183

Can not boot on the system

Hello,
I just received my OP6 and I followed the guide on XDA to unlock, modify the recovery in TWRP, root and install a custom ROM. On my old tel, I used to do it but then I had to do a wrong manipulation.
Tutorial I followed: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/how-to/oneplus-6-unlock-bootloader-flash-twrp-t3792643
What I have done :
1- Unlock via adb.exe
2- flash twrp-3.2.3-0-enchilada.img from adb.exe
3- Flash twrp-3.2.3-0-enchilada.ZIP
4- Flash Magisk-v17.2.zip
The phone was booting well and still on Oxygen OS
So I rebooted in TWRP to flash the ROM HAVOC custom (https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/development/rom-havoc-os-t3817805)
1- Wipe DATA, Davik, system
2- Flash the ROM.ZIP
3- reboot in TWRP
4- Flash Gapps => Error 20 with Gapps ARM64 and error 70 with Gapps ARM
5- Reboot system => Message : No OS Installed! Are you sure you wish to reboot ?
And when I reboot system, it comes back on the icon TWRP! Impossible to start on the ROM, it brings me back to the icon of recovery! I do not have enough on the menu. To have access again to the TWRP menu, I have to reflash twrp-3.2.3-0-enchilada.img ....
Do you have an idea to get back to normal where to install TWRP + Custom ROM?
Thank you.
PS: sorry i used google traduction.
I Solved my problem. I returned to stock but i always can't flash custom ROM. I blocked to TWRP icon after reboot.

Phone boots to CrashDump mode, cannot enter Fastboot Mode and stuck in TWRP splash

Hi guys,
I have made a bad decision in trying to clean install Lineage OS 17 and now my phone only goes to QUALCOMM CrashDump Mode or gets stuck in the TWRP splash screen.
I cannot even make it start in Fastboot mode.
What I did was:
- Install TWRP 3.3.1-4
- Wipe EVERYTHING from the advanced wipe option
- Sideload Lineage OS 17
- Reboot into recovery to discover that I had the OnePlus recovery back
- Install TWRP 3.3.1-4 again
- Reboot into recovery
- Install GApps
- Restart phone
- Get into infinite boot load of Lineage OS which after a couple of auto restart would take me to TWRP
- Panic
- Wipe EVERYTHING again
- By mistake sideload TWRP 3.3.1-4 instead of Lineage OS 17
- Reboot into recovery
- Get stuck in the splash screen of TWRP
- Reboot into Fastboot
- Get stuck in the OnePlus logo Fastboot Mode
- Somehow turned off the phone
Is there anyone that can help me please?

What do you think about starting with reading the flashing instructions before you attempt flashing ROM's. That would've prevented all the troubles you are experiencing.

I managed to reset the device following the guide linked above but I am not able to have a Custom ROM yet.
It doesn't look like there is any "official" guide as I've seen many and each of them gives different instructions!
Ultimately what I found (and tried with no success) is:
- Have the phone automatically update to stock (Oxygen OS 9.0.9) after the reset mentioned above
- Boot into TWRP 3.3.1-14
- Wipe => Format Data: "yes"
- Reboot into TWRP 3.3.1-14
- Flash Stock ROM Oxygen 22 OTA 040 (android 10)
- Flash TWRP 3.3.1-14 installer
- Reboot to recovery
- Flash Stock ROM Oxygen 22 OTA 040 (android 10)
- Flash TWRP 3.3.1-14 installer
- Wipe => Advanced Wipe => Data and Dalvik/ART Cache
- Flash TWRP 3.3.1-14 installer
- Reboot to recovery
- Flash OpenGApps arm64 10
- Reboot to system
After this the phone automatically boots into Fastboot Mode, there is no way to make it try and load the OS.
If you have any better guide, can you please tell me where I can find it?
Thanks

- Flash Stock ROM Oxygen 22 OTA 040 (android 10)
- Flash TWRP 3.3.1-14 installer
- Wipe => Advanced Wipe => Data and Dalvik/ART Cache
- Flash TWRP 3.3.1-14 installer
- Reboot to recovery
- Flash OpenGApps arm64 10
- Reboot to system
After this the phone automatically boots into Fastboot Mode, there is no way to make it try and load the OS.
If you have any better guide, can you please tell me where I can find it?
Thanks

Hold on, what exactly do you want to achieve?
You want to flash LineageOS 17.0 right? I see, just like your first attempt, a couple of things going wrong.
This should work.
● Backup all your data.
● Make sure you have the latest OOS Pie Stable installed on both A and B slots.
● Download the latest LineageOS 17.0 build and Gapps for Android 10.
● Boot to TWRP.
● Wipe data and dalvik cache.
● Flash the ROM zip followed by the TWRP installer zip.
● Reboot to recovery.
● Flash Gapps (if you need Google Services etc).
● Reboot to system.
● Go trough the setup and after that you can reboot to TWRP again to flash Magisk if you need root.
This should work. :good:

I have done exactly what you said. This time I was able to make the Lineage OS load but shortly after it gave me an error saying that "Android Setup keeps stopping" without that the wizard even starts.
I read online that in some cases you need to do a minimal setup before installing the GApps so I will try like that.
Definitely I got 1 step further though, thanks!
