On the latest 6.01. Every time the gmail notification comes up on new mail, the screen wakes when it's off. I can't find any setting to disable this behavior unless I disable the notification completely. It wasn't like this on Lollipop.
Found the cause, was due to lightflow. Only solution is to disable lightflow completely.

Is there an app or setting to force the phone to "wake up" when a new notification comes in (gmail, sms, calendar, etc...). I find it easy to miss notifications when the phone is locked and it would be nice for the screen to turn on when a new notification is received on my Captivate.
ChompSMS has a setting that will repeat notifications. I have it set to repeat every 2 mins. That way, my Samsung Vibrant at least has an audio and vibrate notification until I get it. I don't remember if it lights up too...I'll have to check.
edit: it does in fact light up the display for each repeat. The repeat can be set as low as every minute.
ChompSMS is in the google marketplace.

Isn't that just for SMS though? I want something that can handle all notifications especially Google Voice and GMail.
I haven't been receiving any notifications over the last few days, whether its email/text or whatever, the phone doesn't vibrate/sound like normal, just a quick split second vibration but no notification led or sound. Nothing shows up in the status bar either, but if i go into the app i can see the new email or text.
What's going on? Haven't seen an issue like this before.
Never mind, i must of disabled led blinker pro notifications for some reason, works now.
I specifically noticed that messenger, and some apps such as xiaomi find device (there are probably others more but don't notice those as much) will still vibrate the phone when displaying notifications. I had turned all vibration related settings off both in app and the phone settings and but the vibrations persist. Turning off the app notification solves it but that kinda defeats the purpose of having notifications at all. Any tips how to fix these? I noticed that it got worse with the latest update, in previous versions of miui the vibrations are temperamental, now it's just there always
Long press the icon of the app which is causing you notifications. Select App Info. Scroll down till you see "Notifications". From there you can turn off vibrations and other things with granular control.
So I upgraded to OOS12, i did a factory wipe as well to start fresh. Noticed odd stuff, like I wasn't getting text message notifications, they were coming in but notifications were set only to show up in the status bar not notify me. Then weird stuff like my alarm didn't wake me up this morning- the clock app was set not to notify me at all!
I found the manage notifications, almost all apps were set to off. A few odd ones were on, Facebook was on, "My Files" was on...is there some reason why this is? I know there's a big push now to not have so many notifications on our phones...but it's very frustrating as I actually use my phone for work and productivity, and most of my notifications are important. I'd rather have them all on and turn off the ones that are annoying, but I don't see a setting?
It looks like a gmail only problem. Everything else works fine. How can I fix this?
it is probably because of gmail notification setting. maybe lock screen notifications are disabled and thats why it does not wake the phone screen
