Adb/shell/bootloader filesystem changes not saving on restart. Xiaomi Mi3 softbricked - General Questions and Answers

Hi there, I have a Xiaomi Mi3
My phone is currently softbricked, it was running a Custom Rom (Ivan's latest Marshmellow 6.3.29).
I have attempted to fix the issues via recovery factory reset, fastboot flashing, recovery flashing etc but all changes seem to be overridden upon restart. e.g, even if all i do is delete or rename a file, the file reappears upon restart.
let me know what additional logs, partition info, error reports etc will be helpful and I will make sure I post them ASAP.
Thank you very much, any help is greatly appreciated

all changes not being applied on restart

My phone (xiaomi mi3) is currently having issues booting, and I have tried flashing using twrp, cwm, fastboot, and no changes are being saved upon restart.
i.e. when i try factory reset, recovery completes the action, then attempts to restart and the phone boots the same as pre-factory reset.
The same occurs for all actions, installing new rom, fastbooting new rom, installing new recovery, even deleting a single file.. the file reappears upon restart.
anyone experienced this before? or have any further ideas?? massive appreciation for all help! Let me know if you need any further details and I will be happy to provide..
hi there is anyone able to help with this please?
no ideas?
I am willing to paypal $25 to anyone that can help me solve this issue

[SOLVED] Constant reboot, need urgent help!

Hey guys,
I have encountered a serious problem on my device. Today I rebooted my phone once and it has just stuck on the samsung logo. Then the phone began to reboot without ending....It could not just start. With the help of TWRP I have made a full wipe and tried to reinstall my actual firmware Superman 1.10.5, but I always stuck at 25%, the phone did not respond to any actions. I even tried to flash the stock 4-file firmware with Odin, but it did not help, the phone constantly reboots. Sometimes it manages to boot to the stage where the sign "installation of applications" appears, but a while later it stucks again and reboots. Please, help me to solve the issue, because I am begininng to think that it would be unpossible to recover the phone. I am only able to enter the download mode or recovery, anything else does not work.
Thanks....

Really sad to hear that story mate. First things first, I assume your BL version is matching with the firmware your flashing right. And when you go to TWRP, can you see /system and /data partition from the mount menu? If not, you have to perform a factory reset. I had issue like that with my Galaxy S7 and usually factory reset(not wiping) helped me with that situation. Since your system can boot up, but crashes after awhile, I do suspect that some of your partition might be corrupted(at least its what happened to me). So trying factory reset can be a good bet for you.
And... I think you have to provide more information with which variant you are using, and your BL version, TWRP version too, solve the problem quicker. Hope this information helps.

Yep, you are right, BL versions always matched firmwares. I tried to wipe the phone with TWRP 3.0.2.3 and also to make a factory reset with the stock recovery. The stock firmware, which I tried to flash, was G930FXXU1BPH6_G930FOXE1BPH1_SER consisting of 4 files including BL,AP,CP and CSC. After 3rd or 4th flash of the same stock firmware the phone suddenly became alive and began to boot. Wu-huuu:silly: I was happy as a child. After having successfully launched the stock rom I have again flashed TWRP 3.0.2.3, went to "wipe" option and formatted data. Then I have installed a Superman Rom 1.12 and everything went the right way. I don't understand only one thing: why after having wiped the phone several times and having reseted it through the stock as well as TWRP recovery it didn't want to boot.
As you said, I suppose that the one of partitions was corrupted. Oh damn, I thought that I won't be able to resuscitate this phone.
I have flashed about 20 phones during my life, but I have never ever encountered such serious problems.

[Completed] Cannot replace Cyanogen Recovery to another recovery

Hi folks,
I'm having some trouble with my OPO. It is not booting and when it does, it gets stuck at the home screen in just a few seconds. Sometimes it restarts/turns off itself.
But what i'm looking for is a way to replace the Cyanogen Recovery that was installed with the ROM to TWRP, because I want to backup some files (I want to be able to have access to the phone's storage via Windows) before wiping my user data/installing new firmware. I already read that I have to uncheck some boxes in the Android settings, but I am NOT able to change any settings inside Android because the phone does not boot.
Is there anyone out here who can help me fix this issue?
Thanks in advance

Creating Backup on XT1033 stuck on Bootloop

Hi everyone,
I hope I am in the right forum to post my query. I am trying to find a solution to the existing Problem. Before I get to describe the problem specifically I must make it clear that this is my first time on any android forum. While trying to find a solution for the existing problem, I had to google words like Bootloop, Softbrick, TWRP, Custom Recovery, Root, Flash, ROM etc. They still do not make much sense to me (I will be reading more about them in the coming days). So now you can imagine how big of a Noob I am.
Well, I own a Moto G 1st Gen XT1033. Since yesterday it is in a Bootloop. The phone boots completely at times but automatically restarts itself after a while. Sometimes I have 1-2 minutes at maximum to use the phone. Until now I have been able to delete quite a bit of data for example pictures and certain apps because I thought that Bootloop was happening because of no space on the memory. The last app that I installed 3 days back from Google Play after which this problem started occurring, I was also able to uninstall it. Until now I have tried wiping out Cache by going in the recovery mode but that didnt fix the Reboot problem. I also tried holding the Volume Up + Volume Down + Power button for 2 minutes (I read it on internet somewhere as a fix to the problem) but that didnt help either. I have never created a backup and I don't want to do a Factory Reset as a fix to the problem because I don't want to lose the data. I also tried to follow your solution for backing up data but I got lost. I don't know where to start from. Thats why I am writing here.
I don't know if my phone is rooted. I did turn on Developer Mode on my phone in the past (if this info helps).
I do not know which Android version I have but I am guessing that it is Lollipop.
I never installed TWRP or any Custom Recovery software on my phone before.
The battery is working ok.
What I am looking for is:
1) Step by step guide to create a backup
2) Resolving Bootloop issue if possible
Thanks
without custom recovery no data backup is possible.
u need to unlock your bootloader and install The Twrp recovery to perform the backup.
but only fix for you is factory reset.

Thank you @jbanti Apologize for my late response. As far as I know unlocking the bootloader will erase the memory. One can recover data by ADB Pull by using these Threads:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/help/moto-g-1st-gen-xt1033-boot-loop-stock-t3357472 (Post #4)
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2426426
So I know that there it is possible using`adb pull` command to take backup of whole device but I don't know how. I get lost in the 2nd thread. Any lead would be appreciated
Thanks

I cannot make a password, a fingerprint or delete an app. Please Help!!

Hello, i unlocked my bootloader and made a mistake flashing the trwp recovery into my boot image didnt know what to do for a day, obviously i kept factory resetting from twrp hoping to fix it, later on i found a boot img for my nuild number here on xda and it worked but now whenever i try to uninstall an app my phone restarts, when i try to make a pin or a fingerptint the settings keeps on crashing and developer options also crash when i try to open it any fixes please would be really helpfull
my Build number is: BLL-L21C185B386.
Uptade: i solved it and heres how if anyone have the same problem, I relocked the bootloader then booted my phone, it booted into my stock recovery and said that data partions are severly damaged and i have to format it so i did then it made me download of what i think is the stock firmware after download and installation it booted into the system with no problems fingerprints and pins are working like before.
