Hi all,
suddenly the Temasek retire developing ROM for OnePlus One, which means quite bad news for me... due to company application limitation I can use only ROM which does not contain SuperSU, nor eXposed.
The application works only on the CM developer root ROMs. The app works on the clean CM, but I am missing a lot of features there, the @temasek ROM was awesome :good:
I started learning how to build ROM, but suddenly I do not have enough time to develop my own ROM
I would like to ask if somebody has an list of ROM which does contain only the CM developer root. I tried in past to take ROM with SuperSU and remove it inTWRP, but the app still does not work... which means once SuperSU is added to the ROM it add something somewhere, which is found by app and it refuse to work (security reasons as per app developers ).
I would like to avoid testing like 20 different ROMs ... if possible.
Thank you very much in advance.

I have been waiting for a long time assuming some developer might take up development for Xiaomi Mi-ONE phone which ships with MIUI ROM as stock, with recovery that can let you boot into two different partitions for flashing an updated ROM when you need etc.
However, there seems to be absolutely no interest in developing for this phone, even after the sources are out ! I bought this phone hoping I can make good use of the "unlocked from factory " ecosystem. The phone has a recovery, but it can flash only an update.zip file which means i can only update the OS with a newer MIUI version that releases every week. Other than that, there is no custom kernel/recovery that i can use with this phone, simply because there is nothing developed yet.
Having a custom recovery would help people flash MODS like beatsaudio apks & libs, framework mods etc . I somehow like this phone even with all this handicap of custom recovery not being available yet, but hope some one starts a development effort for this beast of a phone and help ppl like me
I would myself try and help in whatever way i can for the development of this phone, but since i have never tried any development activity for a phone, i am at sea !!
Esteemed developers, plz help !!

My mi-one is awaiting.collection at the post office, so keep on eye on miui-au
---------- Post added at 03:26 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:23 PM ----------
And the reason there is no custom kernel/recovery/rom is because no source is available. The rom is not open source (only a few apps are), and no kernel source has.ever.been made public (which is against gpl, i know, but its the truth)

well its good then.. i ll keep an tab on miui-au Thanks for the info.
I heard MIUI is actually built on CM9 base. So could it be possible to take AOSP CM9 kernel source and tweak it for MI-One ? I guess most of the hardware is similar between Nexus S & Mi-One, except for some specific functionality. May be i should give it a try .. do you hav any suggestions ? I basically hate the stock recovery which comes with this phone, coz it allows me to flash only update.zip and not any other zip file unlike the awesome CWM recovery !!!
And you most likely won't many developers are not happy about what the Dev of MIUI did by taking the code of another developer making it closed source and then selling it. Not to mention there are things that are legal in China that are not in the rest of the world. With a huge China government backing backing it makes many people avoid it.

The mi-one is more similar to the htc sensation than anything else, but no, without device specific stuff from xiaomi its just not gonna happen. I might try sometime if i can do it just via ramdisk mods but i doubt it (wouldnt hold your breath).
As for the comment about taking stuff and selling it, that was hardly the case. CM was used as a base for ports, but the mi-one rom (which is the only one thats "sold") is xiaomi code. The only thing theyve done which is a violation of other developers is not releasing the kernel source.
Hello everybody, I know it's against the rules to compares ROMS and say which is best but what I want to ask you is what do you think would suit the following characteristics:
Smooth and faster than stock (all of them are but you get it)
Clean and lightweight but with cool basic features
Bugs fixed (very important, the less bugs the better)
I am looking forward to android L but I heard about the storage problems and I just want to wait until it gets "Stabler". I appreciate every developers work (olivier, varun, devious fusion... ) but I'm sure you guys have your own opinions about which one suits your needs. I just want something that I can use daily without bugs. Also a rom that doesn't have the microphone problems?
I read another thread in which paranoid android was recommended and I kinda liked it, do you recommend it?
I liked it's features but I was afraid it might slow the system down... Also what's the best (again less buggy and more updated) cyanogen version? Is varun working with free xperia? I have plenty of questions because only now I though about unlocking the bootloader...

Hi,
My advice would be to try out all ROMs and pick which suits best for you. Everyone has different taste.
I personally liked Liquid smooth with thunderzap 4.7.
Regarding Cyanogen latest version (experimental RIL version by Varun is stable. Link : https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=taoshan).
As far as I know Varun is busy with CM12 bring up on various devices and fortunately he is supporting our device :victory:
If you have questions regarding how to unlock bootloader and flash kernel/Rom please check guide in Android development section here before asking questions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-l/development/guide-installing-kernels-roms-xperia-l-t2548498
Hit "Thanks" if I helped.
Thanks!
Right now I know I'll be flashing thunderzap because it looks awesome
But I'm really in doubt about paranoid android or cyanogen mod.
The thing I like about cyanogen mod is that it is really clean. In other words, the developer starts everything from scratch being able to only code the essential things. I really like that in a rom. no portings or copy pasting with old sources, but again, paranoid android developer also says that he built everything from scratch. So they are both awesome. I think I'll pm devious fusion about what bugs he has knowledge in his latest build.
I have bootloader unlock not allowed but I think I know someone that can get the job done (if I'm successful I'll make a thread about it) that's why I'm not testing already. I really hope varun fixes everything in cm12 he is a great developer!
By the way which should I choose, free xperia or varun cyanogen11? Is varun working on cyanogen12?
Maybe free xperia is more updated

Free xperia (FXP) will be updated every week with upstream changes.
But it may or may not be stable.
Cyanogenmod 11 by Varun is stable version. So I would prefer Cm11.
CM12 is already out but has some minor bugs. Depends upon your usage, it may be good as daily driver.
Go for repexpersis rom
Full z3 experience
It is flashed over fxp

Hi guys!
I've been away from installing new roms for a while, xt1032 8gb single sim, currently on crdroid kitkat version.
I want to install some 5.02 rom, but I don't know which one. Could you recommend some for a daily driver, non-gamer user, camera good, gps working, xposed working?

i've got two reccomendation
personal preference : android ice cold project
it's up to date with sources, and also adds some features like integrated supersu, slimlauncher, theming engine, and fully customizable quick setting
or if you want to go along with the mass, just use official cm12
though i've yet to try xposed with both of them, i don't want to risk it, since the creator of xposed said that it's still in alpha and therefore may or may not contain unforseen bugs.
I think I'll go with aicp
One more thing, if I make a crdroid nandroid backup from cwm, will I be to go back with cwm restore if I'm not satisfied with aicp?
Hi guys,
I always read in the Xda forum but never wrote or asked a question...usually someone already asked them.
so I have the Mi 5S PLUS...but I hate the miui UI. can't get used to it. And yesterday I finally found that there are custom ROM for this device.
So I got few questions.
1. As far as i know, the source code hasnt been released but should be released soon. should I wait for a ROM that uses the source code?
2. I see that the most popular costum ROMs for this device are - Lineage and resurrection remix. In terms of battery life, stability and bug free rom. which one is the best?
3. I see there is one ROM with the tag [OFFICIAL]....does this mean it uses the source code? if not, what does it mean?
thanks a lot to those that answer

1. Source code is released but rom based on source code are not released yet .You can use them but their are some bugs,
2.You can check yourself
3. Official means official rom from lineage team or other maintainers just like Global MIUI rom from xiaomi is official while xiaomi.eu is unofficial .
You can check for source in rom page for more info about what device tree and source code it uses

The reason that people don't recommend one over the other is because YMMV. I know I came from a cyanogen ROM with my previous phone and dirty unicorns on the phoen before that (along with a whole set of custom ROMs). In the end though, I found them all to be "similar". Yes, some do some things differently like some offer a lot of CPU governors, while others keep the list pretty tight. Some default with swap space on, some don't use swap space at all (this phone shouldn't need swap space). Sometimes the difference between two ROMs is just the launcher.
For me, I don't really like the MIUI launcher. It feels a lot like an iphone. This isn't a bad thing. Some people like it. I just install Apex (from the play store) and my issues with the ROM were mostly resolved. The only remaining problem is MASS STORAGE. But, based on my experience with mly previous phone, I doubt I'll find a ROM that natively supports it. But I know how to hack my way in and get that going (just need root... which requires an unlocked bootloader... and if I am reading things correctly, you need to wipe everything which I currently not willing to do... but may have found a workaround... going to test it out tomorrow).

Wipe everything is very simple connect the phone via USB cable to PC and via twrp wipe everything then past a Rom on the phone and flash it, that's it

Wiping everything is easy, yes, but I want to avoid wiping if I don't have to.
Got the phone rooted without needing to wipe it (yay), but getting mass storage enabled failed on me. I can't seem to write to the file I need to which confuses me... but that is off topic so I'll refrain from boring you with details on that.
Back on topic, if you are switching to a custom ROM you will need to wipe things. I personally would wait for a custom kernel to come out before you start playing with custom ROMs unless the custom ROM has a feature you REALLY want. With my previous phones, the one that had a custom Kernel as well as custom ROMs was a lot more stable and had a lot fewer bugs. The one that had only factory kernel, the custom ROMs were flaky. They mostly worked, but they did have bugs. If I got a phone call or called somebody and they hung up first, it would crash the dialer and the dialer would fail to start again until I rebooted. Now a custom kernel may not have helped that, but since the kernel was based on a previous version of Android, it was unstable.
The current custom ROMs (that I have seen) are all based off of the stock kernel and not newer ones so I personally do not expect to see much benefit in changing ROMs except having different bloat and a different launcher. Well, at lest for the things I use my phone for. But YMMV.
Most of the rom found here are just copy and paste with small edit.
In the lineage os based roms all roms are same including same bugs, only the theme is newly installed and new name is given to the rom, who needs it? just to chill the developer heart rom is downloaded that's all. Developers stop wasting your precious time in creating junk rom.
Stop creating junk Rom and Create a proper official or unofficial lineage os rom without bug and making fp gestures and ultra power save key customisable.
Finally
Developers create only
1--------lineage os Rom
2-------Paranoid android rom
3-------Aosp rom
4-------ressurection remix Rom (los based)
5-------AEX Rom (aosp based)
We just need a Stable Rom, and not a rom with full of bugs, if we want themes we will try subtratum, and create our own theme with ThemeDIY.
Better luck !! Any mistake let me know it in comment section.

Yes they are but all roms have extra/different added features than los,, and have different stability, smoothness, battery backup etc
Just to chill dev rom is downloaded wtf u talking about???u even know whats an custom rom is?
You think fixing fp gestures etc is easy??then why not fix it yourself than demanding for an fix..even dev have their own life..if u want an stable rom build it yourself,,they dont get payed and there and many roms than what u have mentioned..peace

Haha how much extra hour battery life you get?
What different feature? WhAt's new?
Most of android 7.x is same as another 7.x nothing is new, it's just a copy and paste.only user interface is different because of theme that's all. Developers Better don't waste your precious time in copy and paste.
Every rom has its own pros and cons, but for creating new rom based on something the existing Rom with bug can be solved.
I started creating a custom rom myself.
WE DON'T WANT REPLACEMENT ROM, ALL WE WANT IS RELIABLE ROM OR NOTHING. ✌✌✌
Its so much true in your statement. But you must remember, don`t like it = don`t use it. It`s xda, the biggest android community in Internet, everybody can share their work here (of course if its not against rules). Your right is to use only what you like to use. Of course its better to have only few, but rock solid roms, than 100 buggy crappy sh**... But do you think this thread could change anything? Good luck, finger crossed, but unfortunately I think that this place will be quite hot battleground. Regards
