Just won an eBay auction, getting an Xperia J. Would like some info on the specs.

It s a nice looking 4 inch phone from sony with 512 internal memory, 4 gb of internal storage, 5 mp camera (no hd recording..), single core processor. It is available with 4.0.4 android version and the battery is 1750 mah.It has and Corning Gorilla Glass.More info you can find here .For reviews just search youtube. It has many
I thought it was supposed to record in HD? At least, I read that somewhere.
Thank you fir the specs, I just hope the J is better than my arc. It closes out the browser when browsing, sometimes lags when using certain apps. Acts just like my VAIO notebook pc.

You are right, sorry about that. Got it yesterday, and there is much not too like about this. Too much interference and stuttering because of SC processor. Small screen interferes with keyboard, which in turns hitting capacitive buttons accidentally and too often.
I think I might get another screen saver; too many smudges on gorilla glass screen. No HD, inexcusable. No camera button; hate that.
Music player is very, very good. Cranked up clear bass.
And has very good storage capacity.
But I will be taking my arc along for pix and video.

Wanted a new Mobile, and it was cheaper than anything out there. Won the auction, so I got a good price.
I didn't know anything about Xperia J, until I went to Sony's site.
It is okay, but it there is plenty of room for improvement. That is why I am here, so I can tailor this Mobile so that I can live with it until the Xperia Z comes out, then becomes affordable.

Plus, using the mobile as a MiFi hotspot works better than the arc. Stays connected, even after the phones sleeps.

There is device specific forum for it,visit it http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1976.
Sony Xperia J is a nice mobile phone because it comes with 4.0.4 android operating system, 4 inch screen display, 5 mega pixel camera, 1 GHz processor, 512GB RAM, 3G and 1750 mAh battery capacity which is superb. You can chech all features here:
http://www.themobileindian.com/handset-guide/details/Sony-Xperia-J
Check Sony's site...
Sometimes my Xperia P is dropping to 200mb ram available with this device and i'm afraid that it will start lagging. Is 200 ram enough or will I have trouble with it in the future? And is it possible to decrease the ram usage?
I am also using task manager apps.
Note that this is my first android device.

Hellos guys
Just for curiosity, what's your scores on AnTuTu ?
mine is 10681, but the other devices, c2104 make 11k~12k
another thing, AnTuTu shows this hardware:
CPU:MSM8930 MTP Dual Core ARMv7
Frequency: 384~1026 MHz
Resolution: 480 x 782
Screen: 240 dpi
RAM: 777 MB
the ones in bold, should be:
Resolution: 480 x 854
RAM: 1 GB
About RAM, i don't know if AnTuTu shows 777MB because the other 300 MB is reserved for system. Free Memory is about 250~300MB
About Resolution, i don't know what to think o.o
somebody have the same "problem" ?
OBS: I'm in Brazil, so I don't know if devices here are poorer of hardware.
OBS2: Sorry for my English.

Hello everyone
I found this app named GLtools it can increase gaming perfomance by decreasing quality I play gta 3 on.my xperia tipo lag is almost nill by using 0.5x resolution
It works same as chain fire 3d
Its an awesome app everyone should try it
I tried on xperia tipo on cm10
Heres the playstore link
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...ce=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_term=gltools
Feature list
- Change resolution and rendering bitness in any app, even if it doesn't support that by default.
- Change GPU name and enjoy enhanced graphics even on a noname low-end GPU.
- Take full control over textures: now you can decompress/recompress them (even if your GPU doesn't support that
texture format) and resize. Note that decompression feature is available only if you'll install a plugin (internet is
required to do that)
- Optimize shaders on-the-fly for optimal performance (the same optimizer is used in Unity3D engine by default)
- Enable MSAA or CSAA in any app to improve graphics quality (make sure that your GPU supports that)
- Measure gained performance with a nice onscreen FPS counter (or you can output FPS information to Logcat if you
are a pro)
Also attached my benchmark on xperia tipo

This thing is seriously effective; with this and Seeder, you won't see any lag while gaming!
The settings I use: AA is 4x non-Tegra (yes, I know AA makes it slower), textures downscaled to 0.5x, full resolution, fake GPU info of Adreno 320, no decompression or recompression of textures (I don't know how it affects performance).

Really? I was a bit sceptical, to be honest.
Surely going to try this!

Asphalt 8 still lags, but otherwise for almost every game the lag's gone! Most Wanted works, Sonic and SEGA All Stars Racing works, GTA: VC works (now at max settings). Just no Airborne.

Nope, not for me. Expanding RAM will decrease the life of your SD card. I paid 20 Euros for my Class 10 16 GB card, and I'm not in the mood to buy a new one soon... I am using swap in the system and cache partition, but that's because those aren't completely full and swapping won't have a negative effect(thanks to @[email protected] for the explanation)
Will try GLTools in the afternoon, looking forward to it.

Do you still have the ZIP for swapping in cache and system? I can't find the thread.

Well, you can flash it. It won't brick your device. But it's a different phone with different spaces in the partitions. I'm not sure if you will benefit from it.
Just make a back-up and flash it. See if you gain performance or if it doesn't make a difference.
For me, it does.

Can someone explain why this happens with me if I reduce render resolution to 0.5x or to 0.25x

Cause it tries to fill your phone's screen, even though you have set it to 0.25 times the resolution, so it just tiles itself?
Lowering resolution is the most effective framerate-wise, but the viewing experience is crap.
