How well does it work? Is it easy better than stock speaker?(sound wise like is it distorted when increased volume)

Works great. Been using it since s3. My personal favorite profile setting is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46337335&postcount=154 but it's good to try different ones depending on your headphone and the kinda music you listen to some may sound better than others.

Yup got it to work. Thanks a lot.

Hey man, I did all the steps and when I open viper after everything it still says to install drivers and reboot and when I do its still not working, any ideas?
-EDIT- Ok, so I changed permissions of the Audio.config file to match the audio.config.bak and it worked, you might want to add that to OP so ppl know the permissions have to match the original file, thanks!

Root is required. I don't think it disables it just changes mode. Also to be honest I don't know how safe it is. Just love my audio mods to much lol.

Here's a little Google search hint.
When searching for something eg "ViperAtmos beats edition" on Google, put "XDA" at the end of your search query. It'll will take you right to it. Sorry I don't have time to do all that searching and copying etc right now. But you can!

No problem, it is a decent file manager, it's missing some features right now but it will improve.
I just tried it on Viper XL Sense rom and it didn't take.
Hi,
I'm running CM9A14 on a GalaxySCl device. I've just found this thread and I've not be able to install the .apk. When I try to install it a parse error information appears. Also I can´t move the .apk to system/app.
What can I do?
Thanks in advance.
I extracted CM File Manager from a Galaxy Tab 2 rom dated 2/15/2013 and it's sibling file manager themes apk as well. I've installed them on my Nexus 7 stock rooted with no problems at all.

This may be a stupid question, but will I be able to use this with the ViperRom? I had CM12, but had too many issues or things I missed from HTC Sense or Viper. I did prefer AudioFX over Beats on my m7, though, which is why I'm asking.

Worked fine in Odon. Thanks!
Figured out FlashFire
Hey guys,
I wanted to drop my .02 about FlashFire. I too thought that the files weren't being flashed until I looked in the ZIP archive to figure out where the files were actually being extracted to.
I looked in System/App and System/Priv-app and discovered that the permissions on both the folders, and APK weren't set correctly.
I fixed the permissions then installed both APK's. Works like a champ now.
Permissions on the folders should be:
Folders: rwxr-xr-x
APK's: rw-r-r--
If you look at the other folders and applications, the permissions are the same. I restarted NOVA launcher and saw that the applications still weren't appearing so I acutally went back to the above folders and installed them like you would any other APK. Now bass is punching me in the eardrum as I listen to LORDE.
Thanks again for this OP, you could probably just edit the update/install script to change permissions.
thank you that worked for me :good:
Does it matter which lollipop kernel to flash?
Hi there. I'm trying Darklord's Note 5 port for Note 3
It's running Viper, which everyone gives big ups to. Yet I can't get half decent audio out of it* compared to the AudioFX DSP commonly found on AOSP roms.
*my experience is Viper sounds thin, has unwanted reverb, and is lacking any depth/substance. I'm using Phillips L1 over-ears. The default audio sounds so faint (without Viper), that even on max volume, I can only just hear it.
What I would like to know here is, if the lollipop kernel I'm flashing doesn't match the same version as I currently have. Could that cause issues? I know nothing about kernels. I understand that I'll have to find a kernel that matches my phone (Note 3/SM-9005). I assume I could find that through Darklord's thread.
Cheers
M.

@exodius48
V4A by default causes a very high level of distortion in Oneplus 2.
Any changes here that'll maybe solve it(I know its a long shot but I really want v4a)?
Tried the app now and it doesn't work. Unless there's something special I need to do... This was on a Nexus 5, Android 6.0.1, rooted with SuperSu 2.66 systemless, TWRP.

In driver status I see abnormal. After rebooting from driver installation it asks me to download the driver again. Are there any particular steps I have to follow to get this working?

[APK] PIxelize: one-app, complete Pixel port

Hey guys,
There are a lot of posts up on XDA with the Pixel's feature port for the Nexus 5X. But it gets convenient when everything's under one hood. Also not all are technically sound and well versed with flashing ZIPs, wiping the caches and so on. We need it simple! The common language that we all understand is that of apps.
I've come up with a Nexus 5X-exclusive app that puts everything together and makes it convenient for everyone to get all the features of Google Pixel with just a button click.
CREDITS:
theLazyGeek for his flashable ZIP and his efforts that helped extend this project over to the Nexus 5X - a Nexus 6P initiative primarily. Please view his original thread here.
PREREQUISITES:
1. Google Nexus 5X
2. Root Access with SuperSu installed
3. Android 7.1.1
4. Build N4F26I only (make note, otherwise your device will brick)
5. TWRP installed
NOTES:
1. This app doesn't have a roll-back-to-stock feature, though I'm working on it. In the meanwhile if you want to roll back, simply flash the stock 7.1.1. OTA ZIP which you can fetch from here.
2. There are a few features missed out in the package from Pixel XL though I'm working on porting them too. Read below to know more.
3. The in-app download as of now is about 158 MB so make sure you have enough data / internet before proceeding.
BUGS:
1. A weird one in Google Camera app that the HDR icon randomly disappears. (P.S. same camera version from stock) It requires a workaround which will be updated soon. Though, it isn't a bug with the camera. Just that the HDR icon inside the camera app doesn't show up!
2. In case your wallpaper app crashes, just follow,
i. Open any File Manager (preferably get Root Explorer from Play Store)_
ii. Grant it SuperSu access
iii. Head over to /system/app/Wallpapers-wallpaper/
iv. Just tap the Wallpapers-wallpaper.apk and install it
v. Now try setting a wallpaper to set it.
WHAT'S THERE:
1. Pixel Navigation Bar icons + animation
2. Pixel Live Data Wallpapers + Pixel Live Earth Wallpapers
3. Pixel Launcher
4. Blue Theme
5. Google Assistant
6. Pixel Round Icons
7. Fingerprint Notification Gestures
8. Cherry Picks Store that makes it convenient to select custom MODs and install them!
WHAT'S NOT THERE:
1. Night Mode
2. A full roll-back to stock.
DOWNLOADS:
Though the APK has been attached along, kindly take the efforts to download it from the Play Store (links given ahead) and also comment up there; that would be a great motivation for me.

Hey mikeprius, kindly head over to Settings -) About -) Build. If it's anything other than N4F26I, it will say that your device is incompatible. Kindly update your Nexus (via an OTA) to the latest build. You can grab the OTA update zip otherwise from here.
Thanks!
Download of the zip fails.
can you tell how a different version could result in a brick? or do you mean bootloop?
I don't think that your app could mess with partitions

Hey throcker, what I meant by brick is soft brick (a subset of which is ANR on boot). And it doesn't mess with the partitions. It includes SystemUI,apk patched which if flashed on incompatible firmware will cause your SystemUI to ANR at every boot! Thanks!

Hey argraur, it's called PixelSwipe.apk available in the apps drawer - kindly grant it Su permissions and you're good to go. It doesn't have a UI but the service is now running in the background. Thanks!

A couple of locations have rules enforced that ban connectivity to the database of this app. One of the reviews on Play Store suggested this method of using a VPN for a workaround. Kindly try it out and let us know. Thank you, edisso10018!

Yeah and editing the build.prop model to LGE is how to get it back at the expense of free unlimited photos storage
Personally I prefer HDR

Magisk Addons - Which ones do you use and why?

Hello everyone, i came from the 5T and am happy about the 8T, I hope you enjoy the 8T so far too!
My question for you guys is what Magisk addons are you using with the 8T and why?
Which addons are you still waiting for?
Post your addon-list and write why you use them.
My Addons (current):
- Energized Protection ## Ad-Blocker, battery friendly.
- Busybox for Android NDK ## Busybox binary, must have.
- Audio Modification Libary ## to use Viper4Android
- Viper4AndroidFX ## works now on Android 11, but you cannot select profiles (current)
- Systemless Host ## for a better work of the AD-Blocker
Pretty much the same except adaway over energized.

Just an information, I found a working zip file for Viper4Android.
In this youtube video its explained:

Its only a flash of the zip file without any additional modules like AML and stuff. For me this works

I also have this issue. I used the link from the youtube video. I'm unable to get it to install drivers even after granting Viper4Android root access. Always get a "installations failed at patching system"

If you go to the v4a thread on here and download the latest Viper4Android apk from xda labs, it will work. They made it compatible with Android 11 now. Should be version 2.7.2.1
Install the apk, open it and follow instructions. After you grant it root access it will create a magisk module, install the driver and reboot your phone.
All has been working fine for me and I do not have any other sounds modules installed.
- Fullscreen/Immersive Gestures - a must have if you use built-in gestures

I think that gesture module is obsolete on our device, there is an option to hide the bar in system as it is.

Yes, but hiding the bar using that setting breaks swiping the bottom to go to previous app. This module hides the bar while keeping that functionality in tact.

V4A works now, but you cannot select profiles such as bluetooth, speakers, etc. In addition, not all functions can be selected.

V4A is so popular because it allows you to create individual profiles in which you can set not only more bass or treble, but also a lot more parameters in the sound / equalizer settings.
You just have to test it for yourself and find out. For example, I found out a function that produces such a clean bass for my car, without V4A I would never have found that my speakers in the car can do so much without sounding bad. In addition, you can e.g. for Bluetooth increase the master sound (in dB).
Yea I noticed after I posted. I copied all my presets from my previous phone and nothing shows up. Sucks there's no profiles for speaker, headset, Bluetooth, etc. Hope the fix comes soon.

How to activate V4A? I installed and activated the module but there's no difference with or without equalizer on phone speakers. V4A shows the same as your screenshots.

I don't think adaway completely removes the Google ads? I have the shopping ads but when I click them they refuse connection.
Ads on other sites though are removed for me. And ads on games are completely blocked.
