Hi, I received my J700m and I noticed that the touchkeys or softkeys don't light up, is this normal or is my phone not working properly? I tried looking for an option in settings based on post I read about this kind of issue but for different models and I have nothing so far.
Welcome to the mid-range, Sammy edition.
No auto screen brightness, no notification led, no battery charge light, no noise cancelling mic ..... et cetera

is there any app out there that would keep my screen awake to display a clock, (ideally with alert for new text message and calls) and not drain the battery too much? Nokia phone used to have the feature and my friend's Nokia 603 supports it too. i wonder if there is an app on Android as well.
Cheers!
What about leaving screen on and using the native "clock" app? Lol beautiful and built in ...

leaving screen would not let my phone sleep and terminate unnecessary apps. plus not to mention i would have to turn brightness to zero every time i want to leave my phone, and it would be prone to touch as well!
I think alarm clock extreme has that feature.

Open clock- press and hold screen. Idk what the difference is.. I guess I'm confused how you want a clock with screen on and not be prone to touch ???

I believe NoLED on the market has that and gives you notification options as well.

Is it just me, or can nobody else get Light Manager to work properly? I've enabled access to notifications, but despite the fact I set WhatsApp to green and Facebook to blue, they both flash white.
Simply a bug in the app due to a new version of Android, or something more sinister?

Same here only see it all White Maybe Nexus 5 only have White Light?

No, if you test a notification, the different colours all show up. I'm wondering if the way they have implemented notification access has changed slightly then, or if there is some kind of global override I can turn off....

Light Manager has never worked for me. It doesn't matter what color I assign apps on my Note 2, Light Manager just assigns them whatever color it thinks is right.
Give Light Flow a try. The N5 definitely has a multi-colored LED
Appreciate the suggestion, but Facebook and WhatsApp require the paid version to work, and I'm not paying to test it to discover they don't work on KitKat yet.

You should try Lighflow. See if that works better for you,
well try lightflow ... only get white notification light
I'm a derp. Nevermind.
Anyone having problems with theirs? Even with light flow I have problems. What settings are other people using to get light flow to work?

There was an update today for it that supposedly had N5 support but it did not work for me until I turned off the Foreground option. Also when running the test I had to turn the screen off.

Lightflow working fine for me, even before the update. I unchecked Foreground since I don't like the persistent notification, but no issues either way.
The only "issue" I found is that after the update you have to go back in and authorize LF to work with you Hangouts notifications again. After that, working great.

Cool, I'll check it out!

Tried LEDBlinker and Lightflow but indeed not all colors are being supported. Other custom colors show up wrong, yellow becomes orange for example.
So the apps do "work" in one sense, but not fully as one should expect.
As they also drain the battery I decided to not use them for the time being, until an app/update comes along that does fully support the Mate 8 :good:

Yes my experience exactly, lightflow very inconsistent so not really that useful
I recommend Light Manager.
