Thanks

I did use some power banks made by this company. And everything was always all right. So in my opinion you can give it a try pal.
I have also a question about original wall charger. Does it support qc 3.0? Or it's just a 2.0 model?

I dont have orignal with me but it should support QC 3.0 because they say that 80 percent charge in 30 minute. How long it take for you to charge your phone fully?

80 percent in 42 minutes. That's why I think it might be qc2.0

On that model the Type c port is QC3, standard usb port is 2.4a.

I ordered anker wall charger witch is on the official qualcomm list of qc3. 0 devices. I'll find out tomorrow if there is any difference.

Looks like LG changed something starting with v10d - 3rd party chargers still fastcharge but you need the original LG cable or all you'll get is slow charge.

Tnx. I change cable with original cable and now i have fast charge with tronsmart charger

I'm using:
http://www.tronsmart.com/products/tronsmart-42w-quick-charge-3-0-usb-wall-charger-black
http://www.tronsmart.com/product/tronsmart-c3pta-quick-charge-3.0-42-w-car-charge
http://www.tronsmart.com/type-c-cab...a-+2-0-male-sync-charging-cable-6-feet-1-pack
And Quick Charge 3.0 works, firmware is V10G.

Got this phone without the charger but still have the one from my nexus 6p, will that fast charge it?

I bought a genuine HTC fast charger and ctype usb cable from EBay AU. It works awesome and allows fast charging.

Just for everyone's info, g5 will say fast charge even if you charge it on qc 2.0. There should be some notification saying is it 2.0 or 3.0 , ampere and apps like that meassure only mah, but we need measure V cuz qc 2.0 and 3.0 are not 5v

Is this why apps like gsam do not show correct mA info when charging? I get negative numbers

Maybe, I dont know how they work but I know for sure they only measure mah not V which is important for qc

I was using v10e stock and now im using genisys rom 1.3, i have used: tronsmart qc 2.0 car charger, 3port wall charger, one port wall charger and an Aukey qc 2.0 powerbank with Aukey usb type-c cables, and the fast charging does show up, of course it is not as super fast as stock qc 3.0 charger but its still pretty fast, sometimes if the notification doesnt show up, i just replug the cable and it works again. And mind that quick charge wont work fully with the screen on, as it automatically decreases the charging power due to heating.

Aukey Car Charger Not QC 3.0 as Advertised

Update 7th May 2016:
I've tested the replacement but it isn't the same model, the new one has 1 QC 3.0 + 1 IQ port instead of the original 2x 3.0. It's this one
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B01ALQWQFO/
This one is performing as I'd expect from 3.0 with multiple voltages between 5v & 9v & 1A with screen on whatever the temp.
They have now amended the product description of the original to highlight incompatibility with LG G5.
Update 3rd May 2016:
Quick update. I have been contacted by the seller & they say that, whilst the charger does meet QC 3.0 certification, they have identified that the "PD" chip is incompatible with the LG5. They have a new version they are sending me that should rectify this. I'll post an update once I've tested.

Original post:
AUKEY Quick Charge 3.0 Car Charger 36W Dual Ports for LG G5, HTC One A9, Nexus 6, iPhone, Samsung S7and more (Includes 1 Meter Micro USB Cable) - Black https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01B5X35FM/
It says QC 3.0 on the charger but it is actually 2.0
Measured with an online voltage meter, it is only charging my LG G5 with 9v whereas my other QC 3.0 chargers output around 6v. Now this won't make much difference with screen off, with both charging at similar 3A rate, but when screen on, the 3.0 chargers output 1A but this only manages 0.3-0.6 depending on device temperature, exactly the same behaviour as other QC 2.0 chargers I have.
If you've bought 1 & it says 9v ish on a volt meter or you don't get 1A when screen on, it's not QC 3.0

Interesting.... Especially since I currently have this charger on the way.
I know when I mount my phones to the windshield mount it get quite hot. Is it possible the is causing the circuit to reduce draw to protect from over heating? Have to tried contacting AUKEY about the issue?
I'll have to check it out once it arrives.

I was hot swapping several times between this & another 3.0 car charger. Without fail the other performed exactly as my AC QC 3.0 chargers & this just like my 2.0 ACs. In terms of mAh & voltage.
I'm just sending it back for a refund as can't be bothered getting into a to & throw with them. I'm actually a bit angry about it.

I look forward to hearing what they say.
Mine hasn't shipped yet (I ordered a few things together from Amazon).
Aukey is a Qualcomm certified QC 3.0 brand. I was looking to buy the Aukey as well but evidently buying one for the expected results seems like buying a box of kiddy cereal looking for the last piece of a puzzle.......or visiting McDonald's for the missing Monopoly piece. Wow.
Did you use a usb 3 or usb 2 cable because this makes all the difference and most people don't know this.

I'll post my results as my Aukey Dual port QC 3.0 car charger ( as well as Aukey's dual port wall charger QC 3.0 and RAVPower 20100mAh Portable Charger with QC 3.0 & USB-C) arrives today, Wednesday 4/26/2016.
I'm going to have to check this out on my aukey car charger now...

Mine arrived and checking with Ampere app on my LG G5 one port is giving me about 1400mA which is about correct. The other port read MUCH lower between 50mA to 550mA, that is waaaaaay to low.
My Nexus 6P though not a QC 3.0 still give me much higher reading in one port vs the other. I know Ampere isn't super accurate but the difference is too big.
I'll have to try again tomorrow.

I like Anker but haven't seen a dual car charger where both ports are QC 3.0 or a USB type see port and an QC 3.0 port.
So I did a quick test last night. I decided to ignore the Ampere reading and just charge my LG G5 from about 30 minutes (31 minutes actually). My G5 went from 49% to 89% in 31 minutes while simultaneously charging my Nexus 6 P (not A QC 3.0 device) from 43% to 62% in the same 31 minutes.
so it appears to work in actual use. I'll have to try again soon, but for now I think I'm ok with it and will trust my results more than the reading from the app.

In those circumstances you won't see any differences between QC 2 & 3.
A couple of ways to spot the difference
1. With an in-line voltage meter the QC 3 will output at various volts between 6&9v. The QC2 will show just 5 & 9v
2. With screen on & phone temp above 35c (to a lesser extent 32c) the QC2 will charge significantly slower than QC3
Sent from my LG-H850 using Tapatalk
Another update. I was running a stress test to warm the phone for more comparison & this charger couldn't even provide a net positive charge. When I swapped to another 3.0 (review up soon ), I was getting 1Amp charge again.
The extra voltage steps in QC3 definitely are a big advantage when phone under heavy load.

Can anyone confirm that quick charge or LG fast charge only activates when batt is below 10% and fast charges it to 80% then normal charging happens up to 100%. I read that somewhere. Charging with the stock LG I expected it to be fast. But that was charging from 22%. I had to chance to charge from 5% and in 15 mins it was up to 30%.

I get fast charge whatever percentage I start at.
3C reports 3A to about 60% then gradually tails off.

As stated above, the percentage your phone is currently at shouldn't matter. The phone and charger will determine the best voltage and Amperage at witch to charge depending on current charge levels and temperature.
If you're batter is already at a high level it will slow down the charging to properly "fill" up the battery safely.
Having to be under 10% is ridiculous. I try to never let my phone get below 40% if possible, much less 10%.

3.0 Quick Chargers

Has someone gathered some experience with Mi5 compatible chargers supporting Quick Charge 3.0?
The original chinese charger that came with the 128GB Mi5 version actually has a QC 3 symbol on the back - while I read it supports just 2.0.
My 'dream' charger should have easy switchable power plugs so it can be easily adjusted to the country's power sockets you're staying in. I remember my old HTC phone once came with 3 different, interchangeable plugs out of the box!
I bought this and works perfectly http://goo.gl/vasfAw
You can also use the Aukey Quick Charge 3.0 products.
I got one for my Mi 5 and its full compatible, shows also quick charge when plugged in.
Is there any significance difference b/w stock xiaomi charger?

I'm using the AuKey Quick Charge 3.0 with 2 Ports and a "good" USB A 3.0 highspeed cable with 56k resistor.
If the display is off and you wake it up while its on charger, on the bottom you can see a notice if its quick or slow charging.

I guess am using the same charger you mentioned (w/ 2 orange usb type a ports) in combination with the stock usb type a to c cable which was shipped with my MI5. The cable the charger came with was of little use as it is was not a type c cable :/
this notification you are talking of however.. how does it look like? atm I have no clue what I should be looking for to be honest
(I also tried an Anker QC 3.0 charger - performance-wise it was a lot worse than the Aukey charger and therefore went right back to Amazon)
I went for the Tronsmart qc3 for both car and regular. Good quality, just make sure you buy a decent cable along.

I think the stock charger isn't a QC 3.0 charger. (And neither is the cable IMO.)
But I am not sure, and not bothered to test. :cyclops:
To those who replied here with tronsmart or aukey QC3 chargers, does it come with a USB type C cable? I cannot find any info about this in google alone. TIA, cheers.
My aukey QC3 charger from amazon Germany came without any cable. I am therefore currently using the stock USB type C cable. I am however not sure whether that cable is 100% compliant and to be honest quite annoyed by all that controversy around the type C standard and QC3 and the incompatibility between both -.-

Can anyone suggest a good, reputable, certified Qualcomm QC3 charger that has an included USB type-C cable?

Turbo charger will surely charge the phone with Qualcomm QuickCharge
2.4A charger on the other hand, depending on the ports it has. If it has a single usb port then Turbo charging will be enabled, normally these chargers have the Qualcomm QuickCharge logo on them. 2 ports or more means that the 2.4A is divided/shared, so no turbo charging since each port could only provide maximum of 1.2A

Battery mod charging issue

Anyone run across this?
Both the Tumi and the Incipio battery mod will not charge unless plugged into the supplied charger, 30 w one that came with phone.
I'm aware QC 2.0 charges will not technically charge the Z Force at turbo speed but charges it faster than a standard charger.
So using a 2.0 charger it charges the phone fine but will not switch to charging the battery mods. This is using a usb c cable and a micro usb cable with a USB micro to usb c connector.
It just sits there saying g waiting to charge. But once I use the supplied charger it charges the moto mod battery.
Interesting...I wonder if it has anything to do with tripping the "turbo power" message...there are chargers out there (have to be usb-c to usb-c) that will turbo charge our phones...but not as fast as the OEM charger...I'd be curious to see if those work to charge the power packs
Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
The funny thing is even when I use the supplied 30 watt charger that came with the phone it charges about 300 mah/rate. Heck my 2.0 chargers charge the phone at 1600 mah/rate. So I don't know. I know if it's not fixed soon I'll be returning the incipio wireless battery mod back to best buy in a couple days.

Well spoke to Motorola customer tech support today. They advised the issue I'm having with th eastern mod, tumi and incipio, is a known issue.
They also advised the only way to charge the phone and have it then switch to charging the battery mod is to use the supplied charger. No other charger will work.
I can't believe they would not think of this issue coming up. Very disappointed.

Looks like your charger is QC 2.0. It probably only produces 10W (2A X 5V). The Moto Z charger produces 15W (3A X 5V). Your Z Force charger produces 28.5W (5.7 X 5V).
I think the min. W to TurboCharge is 15W.

Looks like your charger is QC 2.0. It probably only produces 10W (2A X 5V). The Moto Z charger produces 15W (3A X 5V). Your Z Force charger produces 28.5W (5.7 X 5V).
I think the min. W to TurboCharge is 15W.

I suppose that would make sense, though I hope the software update would add support to QC 2.0. I'd hate to rebuy all my fast chargers for the 3.0 capability. If anything I think they should require that the phone reach 100% and then the battery starts charging, if the 2.0 chargers cannot charge both simultaneously. I love Motorola phones but their support is in SERIOUS need of a reform.

It will never support QC. QC is incompatible with it. Phones that have USB C and QC are out of spec. Have a look at this thread for more info on it.

Wireless chargers do the trick.
I had the same issue but had a qi wireless charger in the drawer here at work. Set it on top and it's now charging the Incipio battery mod, so it's all good. Irritating that a Samsung OEM usb-c charger from my S8 won't charge the mod though.
Moto battery not charging phone
Uninstall and reinstall the Moto mod manager and it will work properly

You can't (uninstall mod manager), at least not on Oreo. Disabling and re-enabling doesn't change the behavior.
I had the issue mentioned here, my moto mod battery was not charging. I switched to the cable and plug that came with the phone and it started charging. Thanks to the folks on here that mentioned it as a possible fix.

Extra Chargers?

Has anyone found any cheap chargers that can charge this phone like the Essential charger does (really fast)? I have bought two different chargers and neither of them can really even charge the phone. The lock screen says it's charging slowly, and the battery meter acts like it's charging, but it doesn't actually charge. The chargers were both Quick Charge 3.0 chargers too. None of my old phone chargers with a type-c adapter will charge the phone either.

Have you tried different cables?
Every charger I own will charge this phone. My Samsung, pixel, Motorola, etc usb type-c chargers will all work.

The phone requires a USB PD (Power Delivery) charger for rapid charging. It must have [email protected] and [email protected]
It doesn't support Qualcomm's Quick Charge.
I ordered this one and it rapid charges. It supports 5V/3A, 9V/3A, 15V/ 3A, 20V/2.25A

Thanks! Now, what about if I wanted it to just charge normally (not rapidly or slowly) for if if I wanted to leave it charging overnight? Don't think I need to spend the extra money on rapid chargers for that scenario...

No idea. Honestly, I don't know of anyone who consciously needs to control the speed of their charge. I avoid charging overnight by rapid charging during the day at work.
does it really need PD? they are kind of expensive and there are chargers out there with 5V, 6V, 9V, 12V @ 3A

Actually, It *does* support QC 3.0 and USB PD.

Essential confirmed on their subreddit that it does not support Qualcomm Quick Charge. It supports USB PD.

Then why does the phone indicate it's rapidly charging when plugged into a QC 3.0 charger then?

I'm not sure how Android is programmed to display "Rapidly Charging", but I'm sure it's not by charging standard. Probably based on supplied power, but it definitely doesn't charge as fast as the stock charger. I noticed this with my QC chargers. It will say rapidly charging for a couple minutes and then just not charge at all or say charging slowly. Frustrating as hell so I bought an extra USB PD charger.
My Samsung chargers all work, and charge the phone to 100%. They just say charging, not quick charging, but whatever... The % goes up.

Try using the Ampere app on the Play store. It will show you what amounts of current etc is being used to charge the phone..

I ordered this. Won't be here for awhile though as it's coming from China. I brought the essential because it was cheap, might as well stick to the theme.

Yeah...it doesn't. I'm such a tool I assumed it did and bought two Ankar QC3 wall chargers and a Tronsmart QC3 car charger. None of them are able to charge the phone at all, says that it's charging slowly but doesn't seem as though it's charging at all.

Phone needs a charger with USB-C Power Delivery and not QC. Anker has at least one model and Incipio has one as well. There are many others on Amazon.. The cool thing about those is that they also change my XPS-13. Only carry one charger when I travel.
I've got a few QC 2/3 chargers and a few USB-C PD chargers and what I've found is that depending on which USB-C to USB-A makes a difference whether I get rapid charge or not.
I'm slowly converting over to USB-C to USB-C but it is stupid expensive for some things like the power packs with USB-C...
Anyway, try a few different cables and see if it works for you, also it seems to work a tiny bit better on the Oreo Beta however my QC 2.0 car charger doesn't charge as fast as it did on 7.1.1 but luckily the car chargers are the cheapest USB-C PD items to buy, roughly about the same price as a cable.
One last note, the same charger and cable don't always go into rapid charging mode so replugging the cable in sometime kicks in rapid mode for me.

Haven't tried it, but something like this with USB PD sounds like it would be good - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Charger-Delivery-Output-Adaptor-Samsung/dp/B01M2BLLVN/
I had my phone plugged into a regular USB jack on a car this weekend and the battery didn't charge at all
Alas, not available in the US...
