I've been using a Cubot S208 for a while and it's been a great phone.
It was rooted using kingoroot. A few days before the phone failed I did a full backup via recovery mode.
Obviously the file this created is of no use for my replacement phone, but if possible I'd like to open the .backup file and extract some files from it.
Is this possible?
THANKS!

So I've made a user backup from the stock recovery mode on Android, everytime I restore the backup my phone starts to main screen and then reboots thus creating a bootloop. So, I guess there are some files that corrupts the boot process in a way but I had a lot of information that I won't like to have lost. It is possible to extract information from this file just to get the important bits?
P.S.: the backup file extension is .backup. So far I've seen some tools who are able to open just .img backups and at this point I just got confused on this backup thing. My phone is a Motorola XT914 on stock Android 4.1.2
shameless bump
Hello, I'm new here but have installed newer or modified operating systems on tablets, using RKbatch tools. You just set your tablet to USB debugging mode on, connect it to your PC, and RKbatch program 'sees' your tablet, then asks what firmware .img file to use.
What I'd like to know is how do I make a backup firmware image file of my tablet's system? I've tried using Titanium Backup, but it only copies all the tablet's files one by one into a folder. It does not make this 'img' file. I want to put some different firmware on my tablet, but want to be able to restore using RKbatch tools to reinstall the original firmware if I don't like what I just installed.
I have been searching for long time, just trying to find a tool to make a system image after all needed apps are installed. like imagex, Ghost, Acronis or clonzila on Windows, so i can use that image to restore into other device.
I dont want to install all apps on over 50+ android devices (MK902) over and over again......so there must be something i can use to load a rooted .img file with all configured apps....
the .img file can be loaded by using RK Batch tool, but how to make a .img file with all apps installed?
Anyone has any idea?
as far as i know, there is no such software that does that. only way i know is to make a disk image of the partition using DD command in linux or using Roadkill (link is from my own backup) to make a copy of the whole partition table of your phone while it is on download mode.
Hi
I made a back up using TWRP and noticed it created a load of files in a backup folder.
I tried to restore on a different box but it will not find the backup files, which I think has something to do with the serial number created with the first box, is there a way to convert these files to an img file so I could use USB burning tool.
Thanks
Hi I make backup in my p30 pro it's shows as done then I tried to restore it but system shows there is no backup file so I open file app I see pics and videos with full size but if I tried to open it show me not supported.. How can I open pics?
If you can't open your backup file that means it is corrupted. And all you need to do, just repair/recover it by using third party software tool. It will surely help you.
What method did you use to backup?
If you used ADB then you must know the backup created is a TAR archive what you only can open by TAR.
