hi,
i am trying to install google play services to my avd. even though i followed a tutorial (cannot post outside links; i used installing google play on the android emulator api 21 on flink.org) step by step, i cannot push the apk files to /system/priv-app/.
adb remount does not work; actually, now that i tried it again while typing this post, it did work. however, pushing the apks still produces an error:
failed to copy 'GmsCore.apk' to '/system/priv-app//GmsCore.apk': Read-only file system
or is there a better way to install google play services on a virtual android? i used to push apk files via adb, but this particular app i am testing on needs to be installed directly from google play or i will not work correctly.
thanks in advance for your help

google search " android sdk" and go to the official site
Sorry cant post the link properly until i have ten posts
developer"DOT"android"DOT"com/sdk/index"DOT"html (replace "DOT" with . )
This is what I used to install the android sdk (with eclipse) and it worked flawlessly albeit a little slow
Id recommend this method theres a tutorial on the page ive linked along with the download files if ya wanna use this id uninstall whatever you've already downloaded
Good luck
if you go into your tools directory within your Android SDK, do you see the file "android.bat" that it is looking for? If so, simply run that bat file and see if that helps to get you any further with your installation.
Hello guys, I purposely put that title above. The actual problem is I can't drag and drop to flash the Gapps, when I try to drag and drop, the icon changes to no-entry icon(see in attachment). Recently I've downloaded Genymotion and started using it, but I can't find those Gapps, so I browsed and I found that we need to flash them ourselves. Now ! Everywhere, the tutorial talking about this flashing always uses "DRAG & DROP" wth ! I can't do it. I've found some similar case and thread outside there. But maybe it's only a rare case, I still can't found an absolute solution for it.
I've came to stackoverflow threads with titles :
Genymotion 2.0 “drag and drop”
How to install google play service in the genymotion (ubuntu 13.04) .Currently it doesn't have drag and drop suport
(I can't post links yet). So I've tried all of them. But nothing work. One of them said that the problem is I've not installed Android SDK ("If you can't Drag&Drop that means you don't have the Android SDK installed on your PC") .I don't really understand that one. As I know, Android SDK doesn't have any connection to genymotion and they are not being installed instead only extracted. But somehow, I've edited my genymotion ADB setting to the Android SDK directory. I HAVE ANDROID SDK. Guys once again, appreciated that you're reading this till here. I've been working on this for hours and there's no solution. Please some experts help troubleshooting this trouble together with me. I'm sure there is someone out there who is facing the same problem too
I am working on an awesome thread posted here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
I have a query but can't ask at this thread as I am new to this forum so still not permitted.
The above mentioned link shows a method on "how to get root access to devices with a loophole present in Android".
I am working on Virtual Devices(Genymotion Emulators-Android 4.3) . The problem is that emulators, by default gives root access to us.
I noticed this thing when I executed 'adb shell' and I got root access. After small research, its true that emulators provide root access.
Can anyone please help me to get normal access to emulators ?
I want a shell as we get when we are working with adb and USB connected physical devices.
Any help will be highly appreciated.
Config*
Ubuntu 13.10, 32-bit.
Ecllipse 4.2 with ADT bundle.
Genymotion Emulators.
So.. After a whole week trying to find a succesful way to root this f***ng phone, no success has been found.
I couldn't find this phone's section on XDA so I'm posting this on the general section...
If anyone could give me the link to the section, it would be very appreciated.
This is the phone:
Samsung Galaxy Trend 3 - SM-G3502C
Android Version: 4.3
Build Number: JLS36C.G3502CZCUAOD1
I have tried a number of on android apps, windows software, and even tried rooting manually by adb and linux. But couldn't have a single successful attemp or any signs of advancement...
Can anyone help me out with this phone, the reason I need root is because this is a chinese phone and doesnt have Play Store installed, and I need root access to install Play Store on /system/apps/ and give R+W permission...
Apps tried:
Saferoot
Kingo App Root
iRoot (vRoot/Root Master)
OneClickRoot
TowelRoot
A bunch of .bat rooting scripts
Baidu in-app Rooter
Rooting through ADB (everything was going fine until I had to access Ubuntu's Nautilus, to move the files to /system/ but the device wouldn't mount by MTP, and I couldn't access the files) link to the guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2684210
Any help would be truly appreciated, and If there is a way to install play store without the need of root access, or even a good replacement for play store would be really good.
Also, I have 0 experience on custom recovery, so, If any developer out there could create a custom recovery for this phone, I could give them the recovery.img from this phone and modify it to work on this phone. If that's the way it works, idk XD.
Hi, thank you for using XDA assist. Unfortunately I can't find anything on XDA regarding rooting your phone. You've probably already tried all these but maybe this will help, http://www.xda-developers.com/root/
Hi all,
I am trying to create an update.zip file to root a polaroid MID2X07PXA 7 inch tablet. I couldn't get root access via any of the one click methods. I previously had success with other android systems with the update.zip method (copy su to /system/bin and chmod 6755 it). I have a working example, except it mounts the wrong device. I simply wanted to change the script to mount the correct device. I have scoured the forum and the net, and keep getting the old:
"Footer is wrong"...
problem. I have successfully enabled adb, and can get into recovery mode. I have unzipped the working (well, it runs - just doesn't work) example, and rezipped, aligned and signed it and it doesn't work. I have tried various combinations as well. I have downloaded UpdatezipCreator (from xda-developers) which had the same effect "Footer is wrong". I have tried linux, windows XP (yes a very old system), windows 8 and windows 10, just in case the zip executable is different. What am I missing? I have downloaded SignAPK, and various other utils. I have tried the certificates that came with the signers, as well as one I generated with openssl.
Is there something I am missing? Is this tablet un-rootable? I really need to enable USB networking which I need root for - there is no tethering option in networks.
Quite frustrating. Any help is appreciated
Cheers,
J
