I have the same problem as op, and couldn't find anything by searching.. Can you please link the thread that has the answer on how to unlock bootloader on 6.0.1. Everything I found is about lollipop which is old info.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-tablet-compact/general/root-flashing-construction-t3091763
I advice you to unlock it the official way.
Don't forget to take backup of drm keys.

Confused on which rooting guide to follow

So I'm pretty confused there is a lot of information out there and it's conflicting one another in my view. I want to achieve root on my stock rom and possibly be able to flash custom roms. My situation is I have the Sony Xperia E3 D2206 model with stock android 4.4.2 and when I punch in the code it says that my bootloader is not unlockable. I have installed flashtool and drivers and tried the "BLU" button and it says it cannot unlock my bootloader.
From my understanding I can still somehow root this phone, can somebody point me to which guide I should follow for my phone?
Thank you.
Can someone weigh in, I'm sitting here a long time with my phone in hand.

LB root and XZ?

Hi
I have had my XZ for about a month now after an Xperia Z3 Compact. With the Z3C it took a little while before developer achieved root on locked bootloader with confirmed backup of any TA-data. I seem to remember that there was a bounty up for grabs for a while as well.
However. I see no such efforts being made to the XZ... The only option is to unlock the bootloader and thus void your warranty. The warranty is never a problem with a locked bootloader as I've had my old Z3C in for service a few times without any problems....
From what I've been able to find out, there are not many vulnerabilities in any of the XZ kernels that can be used to get root. And any other weaknesses I haven't been able to find either.
A last resort would be to try K*ngo Root just to be able to install a recovery and backup the TA partition. Ugly, but if it would work you'd just flash a fresh romantic over it and it would be gone.
Anyone with other ideas out there?

Until now... the only way to get XZ rooted is unlocking bootloader (if you XZ support it) ... Before do it is recommendable that you make a TA backup (Universal (Dirtycow-based) TA Backup v2)... to make TA backup you need Marshmallow (downgrade if you are on Nougat).

"N/A" while fetching latest release under FlashTool

Hi,
I'm currently in a little mess. I was under ExistenZ and I want to try the latest 7.1.1 Nougat. So I relock my bootloader in order to flash the .223 via Flashtool.
When I'm trying to download the firmware via XperiFirm, I click on "Chek all" and I have always "N/A" instead of see the firmware number :/
I'm under Linux Mint 18.
Any hint to bypass this problem ?
Thanks in advance

I would try reinstalling Flashtool first and see if that helps.
Why did you relock your bootloader though? I don't think this is a required step.

I reinstall multiple times, also try the XperiFirm Windows version using mono ! Same issues :/
I relock it because I want to try the pure stock experience once a time

Well then I don't know how to fix that problem.
If you want though...
I have uploaded 6.0.1 / 7..0 and 7.1.1 Firmwares for both Xperia XZ and Xperia XZ Dual to my google drive.
If you wish to use it here is the link to the folder: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B1-5Lr_Sntl5bzU2eEZCaFA3azg
I don't remember exactly from which countries the firmwares I downloaded and uploaded there are.
Most are either Dutch or Customized Germany firmwares.
Otherwise if you want a different specific firmware, you'll have to figure out a way to download it yourself

No problem.
You can still change language yes.
And you can still get OTA updates (when bootloader is relocked)

By the way did you have any problems relocking the bootloader? Did you restore TA backup first or what was your process.
I'm interested to know

Okay I've just read the last step and it seems clear to me. Just pushing back TA backup to phone using ADB automatically relocks bootloader. Didn't know that yet
Thanks.. didn't read that part very well yet, although I did use your guide to get rooted when I just bought my XZ a few months ago :good:

Xpericheck.com also put links to ftf of some variants, so this can e used as a substitute for not working xperifirm. The country variants doesn't differ much - mostly by the number of preloaded apps (some have facebook/spotify/avg installed as system apps) and by type of icons shown (nfc icon, lte vs. 4g icon, in NOBA you have icon indicating 2g/3g/4g even while roaming).

Help Unlocking bootloader

Hi there
I want to unlock my bootloader and I tried through sony's website but I could not succeed.
How can I unlock it without sony's guiding website and installing Android Studio.
Any help plz?
Hello Billabomb75
First check if you can unlock your bootloader by entering *#*#7378423#*#* in the Phone app.
Then click service info and then click on configuration.
Under rooting status it should say bootloader unlock allowed to unlock the bootloader.
If it says bootloader unlock not allowed you cannot unlock your bootloader.

If you would like to backup your TA partition for warranty then check this forum https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292598.
The first thing to do to unlock your bootloader is to go to this https://developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/unlock-yourboot-loader/ website and choose your device, then after clicking continue you will need to enter your email for a confirmation email and tick agree to terms and conditions and click submit.
After opening the link in the confirmation email it will ask for IMEI which you should enter in and tick the two agree to terms and conditions and click submit.
Now check your email again it should have the unlock code for your device.
Finally launch flashtool and click on unlock icon, then connect device in fastboot mode( if connected then disconnect phone from PC, power off device, while pressing volume up button connect your phone to your PC), now it should ask you for your unlock code which you can copy and paste from the email Sony sent you and then click unlock.
This should unlock your bootloader.
