1)if you've made a backup that can be restored in twrp ,do it.
2)download a Custom ROM and flash It through twrp .only data ,cache and dalvik need to be cleared .you won't lose stuffs in internal storage including photos ,music.
3) if you cant find any custom roms then connect your phone to pc then,in twrp ->mount ->enable mtp.now you can access your storage, backup your files on PC ,then flash stock ROM and later restore .
Hope this helped.

Download that and a gapps for android 6 and also a supersu.zip. enable mtp like earlier and put them on your phone storage .now do a normal wipe in twrp wiping only data ,cache and dalvik(which is a normal factory reset)
And then install the ROM followed by gapps and supersu.
If you didnt wiped your internal storage you won't lose your files.
After booting up in file manager delete the folder called "0"(make sure none of your files that are personal are in there first) and your phone storage should be normal.

When i try to put files to my phone from pc it says"the device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected"
Factory reset doesn't work, it fails every time with a lot of red messages saying "failed to mount '/data' (invalid argument)" and "unable to mount storage"

Looks like flashing that twrp messed up your default storage.
Just so you know you're the 8th person I ran into who had trouble with flashify. Looks like the only way is flashing stock ROM .but don't do it yet we'll look together for a less destructive option.
Can you try to flashing through Odin to see if it works.

There is nothing for me to do except to cry and be mad hahahahahah :crying: :crying:
Do you think there is a solution or should i just accept the fate?

I would just bite the bullet, enter download mode and Odin the stock firmware. Get it over with and start fresh.

You can either flash your stock ROM and be done with it or try and wait for a solution but since your device won't boot and you can't even copy your ROM files to phone I don't think there is much you can do(I did try some searching). Normally when this happens there a new folder called "0" (that behaves as a storage)from where you can transfer your rom file to flash but you say you can't do that here. And since after flashing twrp your phone didn't boot your system and directly booted recovery one would think your whole memory partition including system and internal storage got effed up.
So what you're trying to save may already be gone.you should be mad at your self for putting your trust in an app that has resulted in bricks for many users and flash the stock ROM IMO.
Sorry.
You should always make a backup when doing something that has anything to do with root /customization etc..

Are you sure you don't have your music and images backed up somewhere in the cloud or to your PC? Maybe backed up with Samsung Kies?

Yeah, I have only small bits backed up.
The problem i have with twrp is that it needs to format my device for it to work, the same as the last time i did it. I used my other phone as a security measure but my brother managed to format that one 20 minutes before I screwed this one up, and he did that without my knowledge. So the situation is pretty bad here
Thanks

When you have TWRP open on your device and you are connected to your PC, does your PC recognize the device? If so, what does the device manager say it recognizes the device as? Also, do you have a USB-OTG? If so, you can try to mount OTG in TWRP, select OTG as your storage and perform a backup to your USB-OTG. If it works it.can save your butt.

It recognizes it as portable device, samsung galaxy s7 edge, as it should i think. I can't find a storage device right now to connect it to my phone

See if you can round up a USB-OTG device. That may be the obly thing that saves you for any type of backup. Hope it works

[Q] Ooops - Tab's funked. Help!

P6800 running Zeta
I was browsing facebook the other night when... shaboom - everything froze. No biggie I thought, I'll just do a little reset (I was getting a few FCs here and there anyway lately) and I'll be good to go...
NOPE. It started bootlooping at the initial Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 screen. I'm able to enter CWM recovery and even wipe the cache and flash ZIP files, but when I try to wipe data/factory reset, wipe the Dalvik cache or restore a Nandroid backupI get a System Error. It doesn't look good.
Is there a way to fix my seemingly funked /system without losing all my internal SD card data (where my Titanium backups reside) or to recover it before a full Odin flash?
Just tried again - it reboots and goes into a loop when I try to wipe data and dalvik, and when I try to restore a previous backup it gives me "Error while restoring /system!"
Any help greatly appreciated before it becomes a $600 door stop
Do you dare to wipe the system folder and follow by flashing another ROM?

Do you mean via Odin? Will I lose the data on my internal SD card by doing that? Is there any way of mounting the device in its current state as external storage on my PC to copy all data before a wipe?
ZhenMing: I'm not sure what you mean, but as I wrote above I am not able to wipe the system folder.
yes you will loose your data... i can give you another advice... but do this one carefully... the reason why your device cant wipe any /system or /data is because the corrupted partition... you need to check it... follow the guide in this thread...
USE ONLY PART 3... follow the guide start from this para to check your device...
Code:
Now we are going to use e2fsck to check our new partitions for errors, but not only, it also fixes some erros and it will even for example create lost & found in /data
So let's go, we'll begin with /system. If you're still in the (parted) shell, use ctrl+c and type "adb shell", then issue the following :

Since you can go into cwm, you can mount your storage and then connect to PC to copy all you want.

But won't it downsize the int sd size, if OP tab still under warranty, better to get it fix by samsung for free and not lost any space.
Just reading the 1st post of the ZETA rom thread.
He says he is using stock Kernel.
He says every 5 lines, that you should full wipe...
without giving any sort of warning that it will eventually brick your device.

Tried that one, but it won't mount unfortunately. The external will no problem, but when I try with the internal it just... well it does nothing. It's a bummer cause all my most recent backups are on the internal. Any other way of retrieving my data short of extracting the chip?
Giving it back to Samsung sounds like the best option, but I'm worried cause it has a custom ROM and it's rooted. Anyone has experience doing that?
Also I thought full wipes were good, but you're saying they eventually brick the device? How come? I thought having a custom recovery meant it would be virtually impossible to brick my device... and the weird thing is that it happened during normal usage, not while flashing.
Anyway, my priority is obviously to get my tab working again, but retrieving my internal data is second highest. Isn't there a flashable ZIP that would copy the contents of the internal SD into an external SD card? Surely this has happened to someone before me?
Thanks for all the answers, really appreciated!

nope it wont... the 3rd stage on that thread command for just check and fix the corrupted partition... its like when we force boot windows... it will run on a little diagnostic software to check the drive... same concept.

Gotcha! Will try that one and post result - thanks!
how did your partition check go?
i'm annoyed that some partitions can be corrupted randomly even doing some mundane stuffs
even on stock ICS fw, i encountered DATA corruption by just deleting a contact
i guess you have softbrick..
here is what i did:
-flash stock Honeycomb firmware using Odin
-forced tablet into stock recovery mode
-wipe Cache/Data/Factory Reset
- reboot
when your tab is working again you could backup files from your internal EMMC and you could flash ROMS from there

Thanks for that. I haven't tried anything yet as I'm away till Weds, but I will then and let you know. So you're saying by flashing stock HC via Odin and wiping/resetting everything through stock recovery I won't lose my internal storage data?
that's what i experienced..but i could not guarantee that it will be the same for your device
i noticed that because old folder are not deleted when i rebooted, but i haven't checked if the system folders are cleared
to have a clean reflash i also format/sdcard on recovery..but don't do this on stocl ICS recovery since you might risk increasing the damage
try to format via odin the Honeycomb fw first [don't put PIT file neither enable Repartion, just normal flash]
then force it to enter recovery mode when it bootloops after reset
you might fix your device this way if it has softbrick
just resort to using PIT/repartition as your last option
Again I would not recommend repartition when tab still under warranty. Repartition the last resort only if the tab is without warranty after failing all other alternatives.

[solved] [Q] Flashing the stock firmware again

Hello everyone,
I have a Galaxy R and to get root access, I just flashed ARDATDAT's kernel, but via Odin, without installing CWM. Later I found out that the method is obsolete, and now I have the yellow triangle in my boot screen. Later, I installed CWM also.
Now, I am not able to get the official ICS update because of that. The phone settings -> about phone show the following :
Model Number - GT-I9103
Android Verison - 2.3.5
Baseband version - I9103DDKH4
Kernel Version - [email protected] #76
Build number - GINGERBREADXWKI5
I want to flash the stock firmware again in order to get the ICS update. I downloaded the stock firmware for my phone (I am not sure if I have downloaded the correct firmware, It'll be helpful if some of you Gurus confirm that... )
from this page :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1861359 : the firmware I downloaded says :
Android Version: 2.3.5
Country: India
Region: Europe
Carrier: Unbranded
Build Date: 17th September 2011
PDA: XWKI5
Modem: DDKH4
CSC: ODDKH4
Is this the correct firmware? I live in India, and the XWKI5 also matches with the build number in my phone settings, so I downloaded this.
Now, In the guide to flash stock firmware on xda here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1406664 , it is shown that volume down + home button + power button will make the device enter download mode. However, after trying a lot of times, it is not happening. Is it because I installed CWM? I have also installed CWM app on phone. When I choose enter download mode from that, after reboot, my cell just shows the first screen shown in the tutorial, saying "Downloading... Do no turn off target !!" After that, none of the volume up/down/home/power key presses seem to have any effect. I have to reboot the cell to normal mode after long pressing the power key...
I want to go to the next screen of showing 'Warning!! A custom OS can...." but that screen doesn't appear at all...
Thank you in advance...
You downloaded the wrong firmware buddy. Here's the link to the Official Indian ICS Stock ROM.
Regarding download mode, make sure that the phone is not connected to PC via usb cable while entering download mode using Vol down + Home + Power.
EDIT: Resetting the download counter/yellow triangle is not easy. I guess you'll have to live with that. Just ignore it.

1. In the method you are using to get "Downloading..do not turn off target" screen is actually download mode itself.
NO WARNING PAGE WILL COME, SO PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE THE BATTERY AND RESTART YOUR PHONE.
Just insert the USB cable and start flashing via odin.
2. You dont need to press any volume up key to continue or anything to see that Warning page. Because warnings are only given beforehand and not after you have automatically continued.
And FYI the key pressing thing to continue after the warning page will lead you to this screen only
3. As far as you are concerned with the REGULAR WAY of entering the download mode...
WHICH WILL SHOW YOU THE WARNING PAGE AND YOU WILL HAVE TO PRESS VOLUME UP KEY TO CONTINUE...
4. For getting in the download mode in the normal way LONG press the "volume down+home+power button" you will be able to enter it.
5. CWM has nothing to do with the download mode..so relax..nothing got corrupt because indirect way of entering download mode is working.
So enter the download mode by any of the ways aboveand start flashing.
6. Buddy ICS is android version 4.0.4, download any version, preferable XWLP2 Poland rom, because it is the most updated one and the latest one too.
7. You dont need to download Gingerbread (android version 2.3.5) in order to get the official ICS update. XDA has the list of official firmwares for a download and flash procedure
So download any android version 4.0.4 official firmware!!!![
8. For flashing please read our Recognised Helper P hope it does not offend you vikesh.) kataria.vikesh's post

9. For getting rid of the flash counter/yellow triangle....Try the app triangle away..
But i dont think it is compatible with our device..still give it a try
I hope this post helps you..

Thanks a lot DeepankarS, the post really helped clear a lot of doubts in my mind, because it feels a bit risky while flashing your phone for the first time..
I will try the ICS stock mod link given above by droidster. I have taken a 'user apps + system data' backup with Titanium backup pro on my external SD. Also, I have backed up my contacts on the same. Is this enough? I have heard that there are things like clearing the cache etc, so will I lose any important data even with backing this much up? Sorry, but just want to clear things before I do any mess...

Cache wont make you lose any data
and yeah this much backup is enough.
And yes do one thing more...
Once you properly install ICS and CWM, Take a CWM backup of your device..
You can never lose your data then (data at that particular point of backup)
So if you have CWM backup, you can freely, without any problems flash any custom rom via CWM.
So even if something goes wrong while flashing a custom rom, you can restore via CWM.
And buddy always remember these things.
1. ODIN (any version) is to be used just for flashing STOCK Roms and CWM.
2. Never Flash a CUSTOM Rom via ODIN (until and unless stated) . It will brick your device. You have CWM to flash stock roms so dont worry.
3. Never factory reset your device while being on stock kernel, it might activate your brick bug.
Just after flashing stock ICS, download eMMC Brick Bug App to check for brick bug, then only proceed with the factory reset part.
4. For any problems, you always have XDA

Thanks a lot! Did not know that ODIN is used only to flash custom ROMs! I have already installed CWM on my phone using ODIN. I had tried to take a backup using CWM, but then I just cant find the backup files. My System storage had got almost full after I took the backup, and I tried to find the backup file, to move it to external SD, but I simply wasn't able to locate it...so freed some storage space by deleting apps. That's why I took a backup via Titanium Backup this time.... Should I try taking a backup via CWM again??

My System storage had got almost full after I took the backup, and I tried to find the backup file, to move it to external SD, but I simply wasn't able to locate it...so freed some storage space by deleting apps. That's why I took a backup via Titanium Backup this time.... Should I try taking a backup via CWM again??

1. Rather saying Thanks Press it he will be happy.
2. ODIN is not for Custom ROM's, It's only for stock ROM's.
3. CWM Backup will be there in extsdcard/clockworkmode/ folder.
4. Titanium backup is good enough but CWM Backup is like restore point in windows if some thing goes wrong we can restore it to previous state using CWM backup...
5. Please don't post the same in multiple place (you have asked the same in Ask you question thread also) this will be consider as Spam.

I searched for the backup files everywhere, but I am unable to find it anywhere on External SD. Whenever I enter CWM recovery mode, I see the list of backups I took in the Backup/Restore menu, But there are no such files in External SD, even after I used ES file explorer and SD Maid...
Sorry for the duplicate post...

Search once in ur Internal SD.. I experienced this once when i took the backup when CWM showed me "Not enough space", it took Internal SD as backup location and it stored everything in Internal SD.. Well, same directory but internal SD.. So look there once, also make sure you have atleast 1.5GB - 2GB free in any of ur SD storage to take CWM backup.. It requires that much of space..

How to change the Backup location to external SD card? I am taking a backup now and it is showing this :
ClockworkMod Recovery v4.0.0.2
SD Card space free : 994 MB
Backing up boot image...
Backing up system...
Backing up data...
No /sdcard.android_secure found. Skipping backup of applications on externam storage.
Backing up cache...
No sd-ext found. Skipping backup of sd-ext.
Generating md5 sum...
Backup complete!
I guess the backup will be stored in my /sdcard now....

Buddy that depends on the amount of apps, files and data you have.
So..1.5-2 GB not necessary
Plus selection matters..so..
Why to generalise!!

First of all...thanks a lott for your constant answers and prompt help...
Okay...formatting sdcard means settings->storage->format SD card?? currently the option is disabled...do I first need to unmount it?? Then it will be enabled?? Also, what data will I lose after doing it?? (I know formatting will erase all data on sdcard...but don't know what all data exactly is there on sdcard....is there any possibility of bricking my cell in this ??)

HELP. I can not restore or flash from USB in TWRP

I have done something very stupid. I had my phone rooted and running a custom ROM and TWRP. I was going to try a new ROM and did something dumb instead. I went into TWRP and made a nandroid backup. Then I copied that backup to my USB drive. Next I wiped ALL. I even wiped internal, so now my phone is empty. I figured I could just FLASH now via the USB which has both my ROM and my TWRP backup. But it will not allow me to mount my USB drive now !!?? It shows the option to mount it, but it wont do it. It only is mounting my internal and that is empty. No ROM or BACKUP'S on my internal.
What can I do now ?? I have a phone with nothing on and can not boot. I have a USB stick with my nandroid backup and a custom ROM but can not seem to mount it to use it in TWRP.
HELP !! I am very nervous .. I just paid $700 dollars for this phone .... help please.
Thanks

You need to go into twrp and setup and
convert your file system to f2fs if you want to
use external USB storage.
Below is a link that tells you how to do it:

Thank you very much for the info friend : ) I am on it now.
Worse case scenario, start from scratch then transfer your backup to your phone's internal memory so you can flash it.

Fully Wipe internal Storage and flash new Rom from Pc

Hey guys, I just wanted to know if there is any way by which I could completely wipe the internal memory and flash a rom, kernel etc straight from the PC through USB? Also If someone could recommend a Rom and gapps (xposed user) it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Sent from my A0001 using XDA-Developers mobile app
Edit : I don't necessarily have to flash from the PC, I just want to completely wipe the Internal memory before flashing a new Rom coz of viruses. Thank you

You have that option on Twrp.
Wipe -> Advanced -> Choose all partitions including internal storage
If you to Instal new rom from PC, you have to use fastboot but you can use USB otg to

But if I choose Internal storage from TWRP won't the rom and gapps get erased too?
Sent from my A0001 using XDA-Developers mobile app
Well yes that would happen, you'd delete the files you put on the internal storage so, when you do the "full" wipe in TWRP using the Advanced wipe option, select everything except the internal storage which will leave those files located there intact.

I understand but I want to wipe the internal storage too , is there a way for me to flash the files from the PC through recovery?
Sent from my A0001 using XDA-Developers mobile app
No, there's not really much you can do at that point since you'd be cleaning out any content there you'd need to redo the phone back to a functional state. The only types of ROMs you can flash directly in fastboot mode are pretty much the factory CyanogenOS ones from what I can tell, those are the only ones provided as actual partition images, the rest are designed to be installed through recovery, even OxygenOS comes in a recovery flashable form (the last one for the OPO, 2.1.4).
Well there's one possible way: using an OTG USB stick with the ROM files on that, it might work but I can't say for certain it will. You could do the full wipe including the internal storage, use the file manager in TWRP to copy the ROM from the OTG USB stick back to internal storage then flash, maybe.
Just put all the files you need on pen drive, wipe all partitions including internal storage, plug pen drive through otg cable and flash everything you need

Android is vulnerable to virus?
I just wipe and transfer the ROM/Gapps/addons from my PC while still in recovery.
This has always worked fine with my Oneplus One. My Note 5 and Galaxy Tab S2 will not be detected by my PC in recovery.
ADB sideload the ROM after erasing the Internal Storage

euh, Windows explorer?
I don't use a tool at all. I plug in the USB cable, computer goes "pling", I drag and drop files from my computer into the phone's folder and done.
If you can't do this I'm not really even sure where to begin to find out why I can and you can't. Try just, going into recovery, plugging your phone into your computer and seeing what happens?

You could always just format everything through recovery and then either push or sideload the new rom through adb.

I'm surprised people haven't come up with ADB push yet.
Before wiping everything ADB pull the required files.
Wipe everything from the recovery, and while in recovery, ADB push everything you pulled back to the device.
Profit!

SEE PHOTOS BELOW PLEASE
Well long story short I bought an OTG adapter and a USB 64gb 3.1... Was fed up of slow read write speed on my s6.. So I kind of have 2 problems originating from 1..
My original issue was with my USB 3.0 drive write speeds of 2mb/'s So I formatted my USB using a "genius" app....
.....
***UPDATE***
WENT IN TO SHOW GUY FOR REPAIR HE BELIEVES I CORRUPTED/DAMAGED MY PHONES MEMORY..
ALL TO SAY I ENDED UP FORMATTING MY SDA1 PARTITION THINKING IT WAS MY USB!!!!!
No mount points found, apparently partitions aren't removable, but not present..
missing dev/block...userdata along with like many more (pic of my /dev contents below)

DEC 4TH UPDATE
Of course this wasn't enough already, but but now when I go to format data in TWRP, it says:
"Unable to update " " to wipe crypto key"
I only tried encrypting my phone 3 days before I wrote this thread was created.. And it did not work.. It would do encryption procedure but it let me use swipe, pattern, etc as passcode options... Usually it's like password with numbers n letters no??
So it didn't ask for decrypt passcode on boot and it didn't give an error message.. So I'm asking if there is a correlation or not..
-_____- simplest fix I had to flash pit via Odin like I stayed a week in this state of 0mb storage lol everything back to regular state no idea why I suddenly got encrypted with no password but whatever lets pray it behaves this time

Unfortunately there is not much to do.
Try to back up the sdcard folder on the PC.
Then format the entire device to a new format (EXT3 for example) and then switch back to EXT4.
Then just install another rom by the same TWRP.
_____________
Maybe you can't backup any files because you won't mount to do that.
So I don't have any other option without being FORMAT AND LOSE all files.
And you still won't have a system/rom to install. Only using another phone to download some.
