[OEM TAR] [SM-G935U SPR] GS7E Unlocked Model ROM Update, Version RC1, March 2018 - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Guides, News, & Disc

*Update (4/25/2018): Here's my download link for the latest 935U Nougat 7.0 ROM (March 2018 Security Update), version RC1:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hdzW5KRXcZXDWdZ9Pw6qFMMwniQZN7di/view?usp=sharing
When flashing the CSC file, do NOT use HOME_CSC. Use the regular CSC file. Flashing the CSC will wipe all your data (except for data on the microSD card) so be sure to first backup your pictures, music, videos, etc.
==========
Link to Shortcut Master Lite, which allows you to edit your APN to add Hotspot. I can confirm that this worked for me on the newest QD2 Nougat ROM.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vndnguyen.shortcutmaster.lite
Open the app and put in LTE as the search term. Select LTEFunctionalityTest. Then select LTE APN Setting.
Go into the two APN2 entries, click on APN Type, and type in "dun" (without the quotes) at the end.
Now you'll get Hotspot.
*Credit goes to @heathmcabee for sharing this with us.

Hi guys,
On Samsung-Updates.com, a ROM file is available for the SM-G935U SPR, version PEH. This is the Unlocked Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge ROM file.
http://live.samsung-updates.com/index.php?device=SM-G935U
Sprint's Hand-Free Activation and PRL update goes through just fine.
The ROM offers a Sprint bloatware-free experience and the phone offers better performance and battery life as a result.
My Antutu benmark:
Battery life is good again!
No ill effect on LTE speeds.
Hotspot works again without editing the APN!
Give it a shot, people~!

Trying this tonight if I get time. Backing up now with Flash Fire.

Sounds interesting.

I can indeed confirm this works. Running it as we speak. Getting ready to try root.

After rooting the unlocked rom, my apn settings were still greyed out unlike all the "normal" (PB5 PC5 PD3, etc) versions of our rom. Do you have the same issue?

Yes I do.

What ????are you running 935p?? How...

Just took the plunge. It works just fine. No WiFi calling of course. But absolutely no sprint or Samsung bloat. If I could figure out how to edit apn, I would be very happy. But it's running like a champ.

can someone get a mirror going?..cant do a free download over 2gb..boooo!!! thanks

I got it from the at&t s7 edge forum.

im downloading the sprint version i saw in the link..taking 5 hours..maybe wifi calling in it?

I thought I read that all the version were the same. Please let me know if they aren't.

if it finishes..lol i will but it specificly has spr in the one im downloading...that means you used the tmobile version?..cuz there is no att version

You have to turn off your device ... Not just reboot to download mode.
If you just reboot to download mode, modem partition will be protected... If you turn off your device before going into download mode, you will be fine. I even removed the battery to make sure it was really off.

Rooted - fairly simple

I rooted using twrp openrecovery-twrp-2.8.1.1-trltetmo.img.tar via Odin 3.07, and installing UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.16.zip from the SD .
Now, when will there be ROMs?
Did you root the non-dev or dev version?
---------- Post added at 04:26 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:47 PM ----------
Correct me if I'm wrong, but trltetmo is for T-Mobile, isn't it?
FYI - this method does not work on retail phones . . . at least for me.
We probably won't see root until our boot loader is unlocked by Verizon.
Mine is dev and was a quick easy root exactly as stated.

A dev please adapt this for the Edge when it is updated for the Note 4. This is for the Retail version.

Works great. Having troubles with making and receiving casks atm but I think this is something else since it was working fine before that.

I think one of the Verizon apps I deleted may be causing this.

I froze or Uninstalled the same things with titanium without any problems. I would believe you could get them from a stock rom. Question for you....... is your network set up correctly? Mine was on Global but I switched to LTE/CDMA.

It's on global but it's been that way this whole time. I tried switching to LTE/CDMA also and it didn't fix anything. I tried a "factory reset" but as you can imagine nothing happened. It rebooted to twrp and deleted all my apps/accounts. But nothing got reinstalled lol. Also on sammobile the link for the Verizon stock is broken all I get is a 404 when I click it... now I've done it lol.
Gonna try this method on Tuesday, when I get mine...Thx!

Thank you! It was what I dreaded, but I'll keep hope alive! lol UGH.
Verizon has spent a ton of money locking down their bootloaders, there has been a bounty for the galaxy s4 bootloader for quite some time now (think we are in the third year or more) even if root comes to the retail version (hard to see that since the only root methods currently involve flashing something with odin) it is even less likely any of them will see custom roms. that is unless someone picks up the safestrap project as i last heard it was dropped. Dev editions are going to be the new norm for anyone on verizon, gonna be the only way to get custom anythings.
that said has anyone been able to extract their stock recovery or make a backup of the stock image from their dev edition? at this point i'd be like forever your BFF if you could get me back to stock since KIES wont work and samsung support doesnt even know the Developer Edition is on sale yet...... let along can they get me a stock recovery image lol....
also i just inboxed you @ffr3245 i am not sure if ti will work, but at this point i'd try just about anything.
I can not get these to upload!!! Anyways, I found docugod's post where he had uploaded his recovery image which is stock without root from Note Edge Developer Ed. Thanks go to him. With that being said, you should not have any problems using that recovery image. But as always do so at your own risk. And for anyone else reading.......This is for the Note Edge DEVELOPER EDITION, it is NOT for the retail Verizon one.

g930w8 - mistakenly given?

I am with Rogers in Canada and was upgrading my plan that included a good deal on a s7 if I wanted it - they dropped the phone off at my office but I believe it's the Bell version - is that correct SM-G930W8? I've not opened the box as I plan to sell it - should I ask for the Rogers version, is it better for some reason? Thanks

Kinda, but im sure if you flash a w8 kernel the rom will work since all the roms are made for exynos. Your other option is the 930f which is the international version, but that's no reason to get rid of the w8.

Verizon LG-V20 (VS995) Poor network on T-Mobile = Verizon firmware restrictions?

Hi everyone,
I just switched over to T-Mobile and the first thing I noticed is that my LGV20(VS995) was not properly connecting to the T-Mobile network, I tried every possible APN setting and the connection was always unstable. Sometimes I briefly got an 4G LTE signal but when I ran countless tests and the connection speeds were always below 10mbps.
I recently flashed the Lineage OS on my phone to check if it was possibly a Verizon firmware restriction and I found that as soon as the phone booted with the Lineage OS, the phone recognized the sim card as T-Mobile, and right off the bat, the phone connected to LG LTE. I ran network tests using Ookla's Speed Test apk, and now I get consistent speeds over 30mbps, highest being nearly 90mbps. (tests were done using same server and in the same area)
My question is,
is there some sort of network band restriction embedded in the Verizon firmware? and is there a workaround for this on stock Verizon firmware?
I was havong this problem with my ls997 can this lineage OS work on my ls997?

The LS997 is currently supported, however, this ROM is currently in its alpha stages. I've been using it daily and thus far it's stable.
Here's the link, assuming you have already unlocked the bootloader and rooted your phone:

I had a similar situation with AT&T sim card in the vs995. I would get temporary lte connection then back to H. I assumed I had a weak band 4 connection but maybe I'll try that rom & see if it helps.

Did you install the latest 7.1 gaps, ARM64bit?
When you go to the site select 7.1 gaps, ARM64bit (LGV20 runs on ARM64bit) & and stock. You have to install both back to back before booting up.
Do not wipe system prior to installation as lineage OS patches the system. only wipe data, cache, and dalvik.
Also in settings go to APN and check if what APN preset you have selected, the ROM comes with presets for all carriers.
Those are the 3 things that I can think of that would cause those issues.
Everything works fine for me besides the second screen at the top and Bluetooth. I haven't noticed anything else so far, I've had Lineage OS installed since 01/13.

As mentioned in OP, I tried a combination of APN settings, and yes, I tried to register the phone manually and auto.
When I registered the phone to T-Mobile LTE and the phone connects to LTE for a brief moment and goes back to switching from 3G and H+. And even when it's on "4G" the network speeds are unstable.
I noticed I wasn't the only one having this issue when switching networks from Verizon to Tmobile so I rooted the phone and installed the Not so Stock ROM and still had the same results, then I searched for a custom ROM and found Lineage OS (thank God) I installed it and right away after booting, the phone recognized the T-Mobile simcard; as apposed to stock, where it kept giving me a notification saying Verizon simcard not found even when registered to T-Mobile
if you install the US996 Rom its pretty much stock rom with LTE working. I would recommend it with the konvergence kernel because well thats really the only one I think that makes our phone boot with that rom.
When you buy a carrier branded phone it comes with certain bands activated for that network with the others disabled. While this is done at a software level, it is done on a partition and files not even remotely controlled by the ROM. Likely your bands are locked behind some level of encryption that you would need special software to unlock. IF it isn't hardware locked (which is highly unlikely since this is a global phone).
tl;dr If you want to use non-common LTE bands (2,4,etc) for other carriers you need that carrier's device or an actual unlocked device.
Actually this has been solved by installing ported firmware based on the international version of LGV20 or lineage OS. I have a constant 4G connection with MMS and calls properly functioning. Even though the verizon phones are global, at software level, certain bands/network settings are indeed restricted.

download the rogers firmware from sammobile and join batstock rom telegram support channel. The OP can help you out. All you have to do is upload a file from the download there and he'll add the csc to a flashable twrp zip that you can install to fully enable all rogers features.

Lol.
I guess we just have to wait, but it'll happen, hopefully sooner than later.
Please let me know if you hear anything from Rogers and I'll do the same.
Thank you.

right, last time I say this, you need to flash your rom with the csc for rogers... sam mobile has it, batman rom op can help you install it.
A rogers csr will never help in this regard... :silly:

Dude I've done that. It does not work. I have flashed csc for Rogers. I have been on telegram where batman has guided people to do the same but it doesn't work. I have knowledge on flashing. I've even tried T-mobile csc with no luck.

I got bad news for you. VOLTE and Wifi calling only works on android phones that has been bought from Rogers. I have the unlocked version from Samsung.ca and it still didn't work.
Correction: The only unlocked phones that work on Rogers VOLTE and Wifi-Calling are the iPhones.

i see.
next thing you want to try, make sure your build.prop product name matches that of the rogers phone.
also, my carrier disables feature if it detects root such as wifi calling. if you have magisk hide and an app for wifi calling uou may want to try hiding those apps from root.

I hear ya. I changed my build prop model name to my carrier brand which is 955W. I 'm also using magisk hide for other things as well. No luck. I will call Rogers tomorrow just to see what they have to say.

I already called Rogers tech and VOLTE and WIFI Calling don't work on Android phones that was not from Rogers. No matter what you do, its the IMEI number that triggers their system to enable it on their end.
Unfortunately all carriers including Bell, Telus, Fido, Virgin and Freedom Mobile do this.
if it trully is incompatible, it is more likely to do with the difference between th band availability between the international model and canadian model... a quick google search will allow you to compare band availvility between phones and what bands are used for the carrier.
i don't believe it though, that just makes it hardee for them to aquire clients with existing handsets.
