[Help] External Sdcard andoid folder read only - General Questions and Answers

Good Evening/Hello/Hi,
I own a Motorola Moto g3 2015 and I am running stock firmware (6.0.1), unrooted and bootloader locked. When I try to move any files from external sdcard android folder FX explorer says the content is read only, in es explorer I can copy and paste in any other location and then delete the content from android folder. There is no Cut and Paste from external sdcard android folder only copy and paste. I can delete or rename the files or folders, create new file/folders.
Is this a problem in every marshmallow devices, is there anyone else who faces this issue. This makes issues when I need to move a file which is larger then the free space of sdcard, because direct cut and paste is not possible.
Thank You

This is a problem with Android M, and a fix is in the works at the moment. Search it up, others have your problem. I don't know, maybe they will find a solution

I actually have not followed the Android M fixes, as I am stuck with Android L, but you can check it out if you wish. Good luck, and you're welcome!
EDIT: I believe it may use the same method as the old Kitkat fix for read/write permissions for External SD, but I haven't checked up on it for months.

[APP][1.6+] SD Maid - System cleaning tool

Description:
Ive started working on a tool to clean up after apps (inspired by this thread).
Nobody is perfect and android neither.
Apps you have already deleted sometimes leave data behind.
The system constantly creates logs, crash reports and debug files you don't really need.
The market leaves temporary files of downloaded apps behind.
Lets not go on here...
SD Maid is a universal file tool that helps you keep your device neat and tidy.

Clean applications by removing various cache files without loosing any data
Find & delete duplicate files

and more...
Installation instructions
* Install this like any other app.
* If your device is rooted, you will be asked if you want to grant SD Maid root permission upon its first launch
* It is up to you what you choose, in each case SD Maid will make best possible use of its features.
* Have the SuperUser application remember this choice, repeated prompts can cause unexpected behavior
Download links
SD Maid can either be downloaded from Google Play or direct from my server, appropriate links are collected here. The unlocker for SD Maid Pro can currently only be obtained through Google Play. I really recommend to only use these two sources. If you can't verify that the apk files are original you may put your device at risk.
Changelog
A detailed changelog can be found on Github and most update release posts also contain some explanation of what's new.
Bugs / Requests
Please use the issue tracker for any kind of bug reports or feature requests for both SD Maid stable & beta. I'll also discuss issues else where but usually a lot of helpful information gets lost if it's not organised, so I prefer the issue tracker .
Beta testing
If you are interested in beta versions and want to help test new features you can find the appropriate links here There is also some discussion in SD Maids G+ community.

On start or when pressing refresh?
Could you post the StackTrace maybe?
edit: The force close comes from the directory "/dbdata/databases" not existing hm...
Where would the directory be located on the HD2 ?
edit2: New version up which wont force close
Does this problem of left over directories only exist on the sgs?
Yes!!! I have been wanting an app like this for a while!
Installed but force closes every time I try to refresh...
MyTouch 4G - rooted - CM 7.0.0RC3

I just uploaded a new version which should not force close, but it seems you don't have that directory /dbdata/databases either.

There's no such folder on stock android. Each app have their own folder for data in /data/data/<package name>, which is automatically deleted at uninstall.

It seems that the problem of files remaining on the device in /dbdata/databases after uninstalling the app is only existant on Samsung devices.
You can run the app, but there probably won't be anything to show on a non Samsung device.
Yea, thats what happened, all it said was that folder not found. Sorry I dont speak programming, just teck. And Im pretty sure it dosnt matter if I have a rooted phone but im guessing it wouldnt hurt to tell you that im running unrevoked forever on my HTC incredible (not like the app has to cater just me) but i could really use something like this. I put my phone to work like i do my laptop, (you would have to see it to get that)
Just Incredible
I just installed the app and got a "0 corpses message" with no pop up message
also if it helps
SGS Vibrant
Trigger 2.8.2
Overstock 2.2

Thanks, this is very intresting. So the vibrant has this folder too.
The question now would be if this bug does not exist on the vibrant or if it just luck and you have a very clean device .
Works on Fascinate. Found 25 files from uninstalled apps. Great idea btw...

[Q] How to install .apk files on your Android?

Well, users who are already using Android from a longer time, may not find this thread useful because they may already know the thing described in this thread. I'm posting this thread for new Android Users. New Android Users may not know how to install .apk files in their Android device on SD Card. Just follow the 3 simple steps given below and you'll be able to install any .apk file on your Android:
Step 1. Copy the .apk file to your SD Card.
Step 2. Get Astro File Manager from Android Market.
Step 3. Open the file in Astro File Manager.
Step 4. When the installation is finished, you'll find your app just like any other app in your device.

You forgot to say that you need to check install from non-market resources in app settings. That might be important for a new person to know as well.

That's strange, all stock roms I've ran on my evo, and before that my optimus s have started with it un-checked. Thought it was googles way of pushing us toward their products. Huh.

what about sd data?
Some games come with sd data files. How can I install them? When I put them in the path (mostly H:android:data) it says files still need to be downloaded. What do I do wrong?

[Q] 4.2 - Hard freeze when attempting to play music files

Hello all,
I've recently upgraded to 4.2 using CyanogenMod 10.1. I understand this is not the "Cyanogen forum" -- I am not certain my issue is related to the ROM.
Whenever I attempt to play an MP3 file, located in "/storage/emulated/0/Music", the phone hard freezes and the battery must be removed to restore functionality.
I've tried using the following applications to do so.
- Google Play Music
- Apollo
- Android Music Player (from the market)
I've tried the following troubleshooting steps.
- Browse manually to afile, and try to open it with all three of those apps - all result in a hard freeze
- Allow the apps to find the files, which they do, then play them -- same result
- Delete entire Music library, then transfer over a "fresh" album after creating a Music folder, then repeat the steps above - same result
- Attempted to use the file manager to modify permissions on the folder - none of the changes saved
Interesting notes
- I can copy the files, or delete them. I have no problem accessing them with the file manager. I can access image files in the same folders
What's odd is that I can read/write from the storage just fine with other applications, such as Colornote. I'm a bit unfamiliar with the 4.2 directory structure (emulated? 0?) but it seems to be related to multiple user functionality. I am familiar with Linux in general. Can anyone offer any advice, tips/tricks, or further troubleshooting steps I can take? Any help is much appreciated.
Best regards.

You have to change your build prob

Last commit on the first page. Also any 4.2 questions you need to go there.
Thank you!
Changing lpa.decode to "false" then rebooting the device solved this issue. I've bookmarked these places for future reference.
Thanks again.

Also don't forget when you flash something else change the build prop back to true so you don't run into problems may or may not cause a problem just a good habit to get into.

AFAIK there's no default FIle Manager anymore, you have to install your favourite.

Thanks, but I found this one: OI File Manager (free) in the Play Store. It is a recent release and may have replaced the original...it is simple and very easy to use - and not one that need a manual read to understand.
Thank you for the response however - and I hope this post will help some other N00B in Android to find a good simply file manager.

actually no it's not posted anywhere here, I searched every possible forum, all what there is a thread that provides a flashable zip which only contains NotoColorEmoji file which is useless in my case
anyways I've solved my problem and even posted the solution with the files in here http://forum.xda-developers.com/note5/help/req-stock-emoji-font-file-t3375950
I'd have deleted this thread but it's an editors' feature ☺
