Screw'd vs Resurrection Custom ROM. (Which one)? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I'm now in a little 'dillema'. I have test both ROM's, only I'm now stuck.
Which one is more stable, batteryfriendly?
They have both as same the max customization. Only I go soon on vacation, so I wanna a good/stable and battery friendly rom.
I need you're openion. Yes, I know I can test which I have, but I wanna know the experience from other users.
Thanks in advance.

No one can answer this but you, and you alone
This is also why no one has replied ... it's not rocket science.

Oke, thanks
What do you have?

I built a build of pure nexus

Screw'd :good:
its has fast charge option also... go to kernel, enable it and forget about backup.
though N5 has not such a great backup thus it has only 2300mah battery.
if you still wanna go with ressurection.... flash latest hellscore over it and enable fast charge. :good:

+1 on hellscore

[opinions] Best kernel

Lets make a group list of Captivate Kernels and list which are the best with the Pro's and Cons.
I tried Cognition 2.2b and had problems with the music player which always showed an annoying notification and the call logs that also showed annoying notifs, another problem was wifi connectivity, but its safe to assume that these cells arent the best for wifi. And at Launcher Pro it didnt show my settings options when i pressed and hold the home key.

It's all good bro, we were all new at one time. I like running the i9000 re-oriented kernel by xcaliburinhand. This way you are able to run a i9000 ROM. The reason I like this kernel is because I have no need for any of the OC/UV kernels. The captivate is already fast as hell (especially with voodoo). DesignGears probably has the best kernel for froyo, but I haven't experimented with too many different ones. haha I am also new to flashing.
Remember: read, read, and keep reading. then post.
Mine:
ROM: Cognition 2.3b3
Kernel: Cog's kernel that comes with the ROM
I had no difficulty upgrading from Cog 9.1.1. Just make sure all your stuff is up-to-date, and make sure to follow directions... it's all pretty "cut and paste" past that.
Best kernel goes to the setiron imo, that universal lagfix is just unreal, coupled with the overclock/340mb of memory and the speedmod nothing comes close to it in terms of speed.
Best rom is debatable, when i decided to switch to froyo i compared all of the current froyo roms and decided on killer23d's rom. If you want the two combined get MikeyMike01's rom.
Setiron's compilation just has everything you could want. Im runing it with DRS 3.0 and its awsome.
The one I am using....no issues
however I have not tried any others. I may give Cyanogen a try if they build one but I like Cognition now.
Thread would be more valuable if a person 'voting' for a specific rom would list pros and cons:
Pros
ONe
Two
Three
Cons
ONe
Two
or pros only.
Otherwise, lets just go browse the dev forum and do the usual reading.
I haven't done any specific kernal only updates, so unfortunately I don't have anything I can share of value.
Setiron
It does everything anyone needs

Bluetooth/hsupa work fine with setiron.
Good to hear. I may have to give it a try.
I think someone was asking DesignGears if he may add that kernal to his next ROM. Didn't see an answer.

He really should add it, everyone else is adding it to their rom. Not sure why he's making his users miss out on its amzing features.

This thread is over a year old - and has nothing to do with your question. Best to ask in the MIUI Q&A forum.

[Q] Can somebody help me?

So I'm using the the Inspired AOSP RC1 and am having issues with making phone calls, and I can't use youtube, for whatever reason. I can use the browser, I can use facebook, but no youtube, and no phone calls. I'm using Leedroid'd kernel, which might be the issue, but it's giving me some pretty nice oc'ing potential so I don't want to just flash it if that's not the issue. Can somebody help me?
I'm a noobie, so if I've forgotten anything please don't hate on me.
Wipe relfash the rom, and instead of flashing a kernel that wasn't made for vanilla, try flashing one that was made for it, like lord mod's for cm7.
You're using a Sense kernel on an AOSP rom. Don't do that.
Thanks, I am now realizing how much of a noobie move that was. Thanks for not flaming.

Once you see how fast the phone is and how insanely good the battery life is, you may change your mind.

I third that. I fixed my kernel and I've got everything working on the phone. Vanilla is my new favorite flavor.

hi jebinio. There is no correct answer to that question.
It's like asking - "Who's mother is better? A's or B's ?" The correct answer is different for A and for B.
When faced with such questions, do not start a new thread. Flash both the ROMs and see for yourself. You're not buying a car, it's a ROM flash...easily undone. And they're both free!!
P.S. : I'm not trying to flame you or anything... it's just that both these ROMs are well established ROMs by respectable developers, and both enjoy their own fan following. So you'll obviously get answers in favor of each. The only unbiased opinion will be your own.
Plus, i believe these kind of comparisons pit one ROM against the other, and i don't know about you (and others here), but i don't like that. This is not a contest, there are no prizes being given out. Use both and stick to the one you like.
Peace.

Yes I agree, I have tried both ROMs and have settled with Affinity for now purely on the fact that I got better GPS performance with it. However now that I have flashed the AGPS/GPS patch via CWM, It still runs brilliant if not better and so I may pop back to Endymion and try it with the patch also.
Endymion has more customisations...AT THE MOMENT but Virtuous Affinity is a fantastic Rom also, so really its personal preference completely. They are both updated in good time (Affinity development has started up again after a break) and they both will continues to get updates for quite some time im sure. So definitely flash both and give each a good run for what you'll want most from them
Then decide for yourself.
Roms shouldn't get pitted against one another, just praised for their own perks and dedication of the devs behind them.
Android is all about personal preference, and I love it!

I tried both and I personally perfer Endymion. Of course in the end it's a personal thing, there is no right and wrong answers. At the moment I am using an ICS ROM and I absolutely love, no way I am going back to Gingerbread.

I appreciate the response. Thank you.
When you say there's no AOSP support, does this mean no roms based on stock? I am a bit rusty with Android jargons.
So basically all roms are based on Samsung TouchWize?
Again - thanks

Any clue if speed wise it can be as fast as the OPO? The OPO now is really fast.

Speed, the quality itself - changing from a "plastic" brick to aluminium is just a wow-feeling. I am OP doesn't make bad phones but when you change to something which is made by an company which exists already for so many years...samsung just makes the best phones in any way out there! I like touchwiz, the screen is awesome, best camera behind the s7, MM flys on the phone
That's great!! U actually got me excited. Will have mine with in a week or so. Do you have a recommended ROM (from your experience)?
Thanks!

I dont think its nice idea to compare someones hardwork, it isnt about what is best.
Different users have different choices. So I dont want to be rude, but refrain from making such posts and go try yourself and stick to what suits you best.
Dirty Unicorn is not really supported here at the request of the DU team...
Best bet is try each one, it is easy to flash ROMs on this device.

even though no one can give you their personal opinion about a ROM (and they shouldn't too), i can share my usage experience.
I've last tried AEX 3.3, had some bugs here and there but was so much smooth and decent battery life.
last night i installed DU and battery life is yet to be determined but overnight with naptime (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.franco.doze&hl=en) i lost only 3% and it's equally smooth. it comes with even lesser preinstalled apps than AEX and they use a custom governor for their kernel too.
