I have the Canadian variant of the skyrocket, the sgh-i727r. I'm running CM 12.1. The other day I went to get my phone unlocked at some store, they tried stuff but nothing worked. I installed the GalaxSim app and that didn't work either. Does anyone know if there is a way which I can unlock the phone?

I have a Captivate that was given to me. When I put in my SIM card a message said network lock and asked for a code. I know you can buy a code but would like to do without purchasing one. Is it possible to do? I am new to the android phones and dont want to screw it up....PLEASE HELP....thanks

sim unlock the captivate with froyo 2.2 (KB1)
I have tried it on a captivate with Froyo.UCKB1 (2.2), and it works. (Old stuffs in this forum are for 2.1. )

For a Captivate with froyo (KB1) rom,
1.unroot using SuperOneClickv1.6.5-ShortFuse.
2.install "Galaxy_S Unlock by Helroz", (it will install busybox for you) and run:
backup EFS files -- step 1.
sim unlock -- step 2.
3. wait until it reboot.
Now your captivate is sim unlocked.
Galaxy S unlock worked great for me on my Rogers Captivate running Mosiac VI gingerbread.

Hi,
I have eclair android with ATT OS on captivate. Its rooted but when I try to intall from sdcard it says blocked (like only allowed from market). I did not find the option like unknown source allowed in the menus so am unable to install.
On top of it the wifi connectivity to adhoc,open hot spot on my laptop is not working for captivate.
so I am stuck like cannot install from android market and nor from sdcard.
any alternative (I need to unlock sim so cannot do 3g).

IDK much about android. Although I would like to learn more. Anyways, a while back I rooted my captivate and flashed Andromeda custom. (forgive if my terms are incorrect)
So my question is: I am going abroad this summer to Korea...they use a UMTS 2100 MHz network
if I followed the captivate guide from xda and used Galaxy S Unlock and when i type: *#7465625#
It says:
Personalizatiob Status
Network Lock
[OFF]
Network Subset Lock
[OFF]
SP Lock
[OFF]
CP Lock
[OFF]
Does this mean my phone is unlocked and will work in Korea? Please help cause I am leaving pretty soon.

Another question I am currently using Andromeda ROM if I flash back to stock, but phone remains rooted this will not affect the phone being unlocked. Is that correct?

I suggest flashing any of the i9000 ported ROMs. They are more international friendly.
so, i flashed from andromeda to AOKP and now I have a new issue
I tried checking if it was still unlocked using *#7465625# and it says Connection Problem or Invalid MMI Code
what's wrong? is it not unlocked...is there another way to unlock it...

Once you unlock the phone it is unlocked through other flashes. I'm not positive but I believe the dialer code you are trying is Samsung specific that's why it's not working on the aokp based ROM you are on

Thanks was this way tested on Canadian phones as well? Also do I really need to bring the phone back to stock ROM? Will that unlocking method make my phone permanently unlocked or will it disapear once I flash to another ROM? And finally what modem should I flash it to, I saw several in that thread, not sure if that has to do with the service provider or phone type?
You should read more. You have to bring to stock, make a nandroid of where you are now. It will permanently unlock you.

Ok guys I know there are other threads about howbto get this phone to work on carriers like tmobile and att but I can't seem to get anything to work. I am rooted and fairly certain my bootloader is unlocked because I'm running a custom rom but nothing seems to work the most that I've gotten is under settings it shows my phone number but I can't get calls or signal or anything with any carrier. Is it that my carrier isnt unlocked ? I have mynphone set to global and hage tried gsm and nothing and tried apns and nothingg. The only thing I havent been able to test is the hidden menus trick and that's cuz I cant find a rom that has the options for all the steps plz help guys I really wanna at least make calls.

Ok I figured it out had to flash synergy rom for the hidden menus and then within service node got band selection for gsm and switched to a lot k works like a charm now. Smh can anyone tell me if its safe to flash other roms without the bands changing?

Ever since i upgraded my note II to 4.3 none of my fake gps apps work anymore. I used it a lot in a game i play and am very frustrated that i cant anymore. Does anyone here know how get it working again? My phone is rooted, but the bootloader is still locked. Ive almost bricked it once already trying to flash roms, so im hesitant to try again until i can get a new phone and use this as backup.

You can unlock bootloader and even change your ROM. Search your device type here on xda and read first the comments from the people who already have changed their ROMS. If they don't have significant problems why should you worry.

Try downloading "Fake GPS Pro" from the play store, it works with android 4.3
