I assume this too will break tethering. I still haven't updated from the original software.

Same, can someone check if APNs are editable?
They are definitely greyed out.
Anybody have a change log for this update. This phone still is a piece of ****. Battery life still sucks with this update. I took it off the wireless charger and checked my emails for less than 2 minutes and battery dropped 2% on a fully charged battery. My phone is still very slow and laggy and it locks up as well lots of the time. I dont play games on it and I dont watch movies or stream to my phone or from my phone. This has to be the worst phone I have ever had...........

sounds like your phone. ends a reset or needs to be replaced. I don't have any of those issues. my battery drops to 98% quickly if I take it off the charger in the morning after being on all night. if I charge to 100 and take it off once it tells me it's full, it doesn't drop that 2% so quick which leads me to believe the battery trickle charges once it hits full. my phone doesn't lag either and I average about 6 hours screen on time everyday.

It is not just their phone, mine is doing exactly the same thing. It will NOT charge to 100% and only gets to 97% then actually discharges while on the charger. This is coupled along with being overall a laggy experience with frequent lockups and app crashing. This is worse that the S6 and that phone was terrible as well.

It seems like my battery is draining very quickly. Android is the highest on my battery list. I don't have anything weird installed or syncing and my screen is set to 50% brightness. Any ideas?

If you have root access you can install Better Battery Stats (Free here: http://goo.gl/EjdB8) and choose partial wakelocks since unplugged. That will tell you what's keeping your phone from deep sleep.
Nothing is standing out in partial wake locks. Every bar is pretty much empty. And that app isn't free anymore according to that post.

Op, are you rooted? I noticed my battery goes a little quicker since I rooted and flashed cm10. I also noticed you are on 3g, did you disable 4g, is 4G available in your area? Maybe the phone constantly searching for 4G is draining. Not sure how that would show up in battery usage stats though.

Yes I am rooted. I noticed the battery draining faster after I flashed Google Wallet. I am stock rooted though. I turn off NFC when I don't need it, and the app doesn't sync often.
I'm not in a 4G area, but that has never drained my battery before. I can't imagine Wallet would be draining my battery..
I should also note that my brightness is set to full at all times. What's of interest to me is the fact that it isn't draining so much when the screen is on, it's when the screen is off is when it drains the most it seems. I'll leave the phone off for at least 20 minutes and when I turn it back on it'll have lost a few points.
Can't seem to figure it out. Like I said, it seems like I started noticing the battery draining quicker after I installed Google Wallet.

Hey Guys! Post your Battery usage here! Lets see some stats... Specify if you have SM-900 or 9005 also. If it's first cycle, say so too...
Cheers!
- SM-900 (Exynos)
- Phone is Rooted
- Greenified all apps except WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Instagram and Twitter
- I got my 2 emails syncing automatically
- And of course the above apps running in background the entire time!
- Disabled many bloat, including Maps (I almost never use it)
- Google Now also turned off. Brightness set to Auto '0'
Here are my own stats!

It shouldn't matter too much, li-ion or li-poly batteries don't have a memory, or shouldn't... I usually run it dead then charge to 100% the first few times ( no top offs) of course with my iPhone that's like 2 or 3 hrs

Yes it's probably a bug. It does the same thing on my phone.
Lets talk about battery life.
I for one am getting terrible battery life. I use the at&t variant 100% stock and unrooted, I get maybe 8 hours of use with 2 hours of screen on time if I'm lucky. I only have a few apps like Facebook , clash of clans, imdb and a weather app that has sync turned off. Maybe someone can provide some suggestions for me to try and track down my issue.

I do not have this phone myself, but I am thinking of buying it. Your best bet would be to root and debloat any unnecessary ATT software. I had the first flex and ATT had so many preinstalled apps. Second, would be to use a cpu control and change the frequencies or the governer. These are probably your only options until At&t decides to release 5.1

Jeez, thats terrible! I have EU H955 version, 5.1.1, and i am always getting around 4h SOT. Never below 3,5 hrs, sometimes 4,5.
At first time battery life was extremely bad. What I did: I rooted, debloated using Titanium, then Greenify in root mode. There is one process named LG MLT that drains battery quickly, you should hibernate that one specially. Now phone runs cool and battery last much longer.
I noticed a big change when i changed the way the phone uses positioning service to only use gps instead of also using wifi and celluar network.
I'm getting around 3 hours screen on time, and even managed to play a little hearthstone (this game drains battery like hell)
All of this with the new 5.1 update
Wanna like this phone, but battery is concerning. My huawei mate 7 would still have 60% around this time Of day. I'm at 38% now with still 2 hours to go...

What about SoT? I can buy G3 32gb for 330e or this for 365e, but I read a lot about bad battery life, even worts that G3, and a lot of other bugs and heat problems, are they fixed with 5.1 and is battery better with 5.1, some ss? Thanks, anyone can answer.
The battery life on mine was a little better b4 the update. I used to get almost 2 full days with light to moderate use. I posted screenshots a while ago somewhere here. It's slightly worse after I updated to 5.1.1 but still can get a whole 24 - 30 hrs no problem. I'm on Sprint though.
Yah i just upgraded to 5.1.1 (available since yesterday for me) and the battery life is way better. I do to have auto-sync turned off though. Been using for 12 hours so far and still at 70% 1.5 SOT so far played a game as well.

Just disabled mlt. Hopefully that helps with battery life.
I am getting 2 days of use, with probable only like 3 hours of SOT. For me, more than acceptable, but I have noticed, BT kills this thing. If I stream in the car, forget it, it won't last half a day. Even when idle, if BT is on it's a drain.

Thanks! Checked my S7E after seeing this, and installing now! Are the changes in performance noticeable? How is palm rejection now?

I never had any issues with that before. Performance and battery seem great so far. Android System/OS each are using less resources than before too. Very happy so far.

Still early to see if I see any difference in battery. I think they just fixed the way battery stats report android os use. Before the update, Android was #1 on the list showing 800+ mah of estimated battery usage. Now it's showing 326 mah usage. Not sure why my android os usage would change after an update on the same charge?? Maybe someone can explain that to me

Things might still be settling in, but I've noticed that my fingerprint scanning times are much quicker and accurate, and the speed/fluidity of the entire OS seems to be much, much smoother. Since the device is still in its infancy, Samsung might have gone to work patching and smoothing out things, working out better resource management, etc. which might be reflected in the battery stats?

If you had hotspot enabled via changing the APN settings prior to this OTA, it will still be enabled after. The OTA leaves the option to edit the APN settings grayed out, but doesn't reset the values. I just confirmed that tethering is still working for me.

Hi everyone.
When I first bought the Galaxy S6 I was so happy that I got a phone that will make me live my life, a phone that combines performance and battery together. I rooted my phone and flashed uncountable ROMS several times and also flashed kernels to get great performance and battery.. but it didn't work, I also used Greenify and Synapse. I disabled many apps I don't need, uninstalled a lot with no luck.
I can't even get 3 hours SOT... seen a lot of people with atleast 4 hours SOT.
So my question is, how to get the most out of my "beloved phone"?
Thanks..
EDIT: I had stock ROM and stock kernel running and disabled all the apps I don't use for like two weeks but the battery was worst than custom ROMS and kernels.

Is the phone constantly warm? What it shows on battery info about consumption?

It's warm but when on medium or heavy usage it becomes hot from the sides and a little bit the screen.

Lower brightness, start dark movie and you will make 4h SOT. In normal use with medium brightness you don't get 4H SOT.
S6 battery isn't excellent, just good (middle).
Before s6 I had mexus 4, battery life with my usage the same, one day without problems, second day 50/50.
Over the night is stills decreasing (and how much) or when you're not using it it's ok?

When I don't use it the battery decreases from 100 to 90 and sometimes to 80.

Put it in safe mode then tonight and check in the morning if any difference. If better then it's a 3rd party app. If it's the same then I'll go for a factory reset (with original firmwar) just to see if any differences

I solved it by tweaking it via Synapse, I applied a profile that contains amazing performance and battery life.

I also felt that the galaxy s5 has a better battery life when it's tweaked.
