Sim locked S7 unlock - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Hello,
I purchased recently a Galaxy S7 from Ebay, but have seen after the purchase, that it is sim locked from EE. I never before had a sim locked device. So my question now: Is it possible to flash over the sim locked rom a international rom with odin or is it necessary to unlock it with a code?
Thank you!

To unlock any network locked phone you have to buy a code for it or you give it to software/repair center to unlock it with a gsm box
Network locked is a lock which is stored in efs partition not in firmware or ROM so flashing or changing rom doesn't unlock it

No once its unlocked it will not locked without doing certain operations in efs partition to lock it again

[Q] Sim card unlock with rom changing

Hey,
If i change the rom of a xperia does the sim lock (only working from 1 operator) will it dissapear? What can I do to remove sim lock on the phone?
Changing your ROM will not simunlock your phone. Your carrier may give you the code to do it, or their are websites that you pay for an unlock code. Most of them are fairly cheap ($5-$10). The most expensive one I have seen is for the Note which is $25. That being said, once you are sim unlocked, changing a ROM or doing a factory reset will not re-lock the Sim.
Can unlocked s4 be updated to kitkat without re-locking?

Is there any way to update it by flashing to kitkat? I cant get any updates from about phone menu. It says its phone is modded and can't update.
Any help would be appreciated!!

[Q] Sony Xperia U network unlock

It's probably a n00b question so apologies in advance, but if I root / bootloader unlock and Cyanogenmod flash an Android phone that's locked to a certain network, will that network lock be removed along with the official default Android ROM? Or is the lock at something like a BIOS level (or whatever the smartphone equivalent of a BIOS is)?
I bought a pre-unlocked Xperia U about a year ago that I've been using on Vodafone and had to return it under warranty (got stuck in a boot loop despite the fact that it's totally unmodified, not even rooted, honest!) and the replacement they sent back is locked to Virgin Mobile. They're telling me that the phone I sent them was originally sold to Virgin in France and locked to Virgin before I bought it, and that they've therefore fulfilled their responsibility. So I'm just wondering now about unlocking, and I've always been curious anyway about how / if bootloader unlocking, custom ROMs etc are related to network unlocking.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide with this!

well u can unlock it.. by getting the code from sony..
It will also unlock the ph..'s Sim lock..
Or ask the sony officialy for this.. they'll provide u every info required.
But unlocking the bl will do the job for you to be sim free
But do double check this from google too.
Also before unlocking pls make a backup as it will wipe everything from the device.
Just unlock and don't flash any custom kernels. If you want to then do it carefully pls with a backup and a copy of flashable stock rom.
Flash custom roms based on stock kernels
Hope this will answer the query..
Thanks for your reply! I spoke to Sony and they just told me to contact the network (which have done and they're wanting to charge me a fee to provide the unlock code). So to clarify, if I root the phone and unlock the bootloader, the network SIM lock will also be removed?

Also check this that how many times is the code applied for unlocking..it should not be 0
use this *#*#7378243#*#* in dialer

When I dial that number, the number just disappears. What is it for? They want £15.32 for the code. Should I just pay them and forget about trying to remove the lock?

Sorry the code is this
*#*#7378423#*#*
check the sim lock counters should be zero in all..
if zero then once u can try googling the code for unlocking if they work then it's great.
if not then it would be better to pay them for this as its a bit risky..
and are u using virgin's network??
As it's cheaper what they areaskingfor i guess.

unlock

Just a question to be sure :
If I install TWRP and Lineage on a phone (Samsung S) witch is locked by Verizon (or another phone provider), Will it be unlock from that provider, or is there a kind of lock that could stay ?
Up ...
If my question is unclear, stupid or difficult ... say it ;-)
To carrier unlock your device you need an unlock code, so you have to call the carrier and request the carrier unlock code for your device.
TWRP recovery is nothing else than a touch-friendly replacement for device's stock recovery.

So, unfortunatly, it will difficult to use a Phone bought on ebay or so, if it is carrier locked, even if I want to clean anything by installing Lineage.
Thanks for the truth.

Unlocked phone - flashing firmware. Will I lose/keep the unlock code?

Hi, I have a problem with my note 20 ultra and I would like to know precise info because is very important. I live in Italy, and I buy a note 20 ultra sm-n986u in the USA to get the snapdragon variant, which is much better of the version selled here in Europe. The phone was At&t locked, but the seller give me a code to unlock it to insert my italian sim. All is working well, except the fact that the phone never recieve updates due to the fact that I'm not in the USA. So I need to flash a new firmware with odin. So this is the problem:
1) Should I flash an n986u firmware (with At&t bloatware)? In this case I will lose my unlock code?
2) Can I flash a n986u1 firmware to de-brand the phone from At&t? In this case I will lose my unlock code?
3) If I lose my unlock code, will the same code work again?
I searched in theese forum an answer, but no one can give me a precise information, only hypothesis. I think it is a very difficoult argument, but it's very important to me. Can someone help me? Thanks.
Flash it with U1 firmware and it will do auto update. you won't lose the unlock.

So basically unlocked phones are brand phones (att, spring, verizon ecc) in which someone already insert the code? And it stays forever?

Wasn't sure if it's possible to unlock the bootloader while still being Sim locked. Thanks for letting me know, guess I'll wait till we find a way to sim unlock before doing the bootloader.

Once you pay off the phone. It can then be sim unlocked. The other way is to pay someone to sim unlock the phone.
