Hi i have problem with my Note5. Since i update it to MM i cant get pass with my lock screen. And i dont want to do a factory reset. I am planning to flash the TWRP so that i can wipe everything excluding the system so that i can still have my files. Is that possible? If yes how can i flash the TWRP? What i need to do? Also i am not sure if the OEM on my phone is ON. If its off can i still proceed to flash the TWRP using ODIN? Thanks in advance

go into recovery from your bootloader menu and either restore a backup or flash the last working rom. or you can try wiping data and reflashing what you flashed. what did you do anyways?

Did you by any chance flash the latest Peter Alfonso rom? If so, wipe cache and dalvik and flash a different kernel.

Have you tried doing a factory reset?
When I dirty flashed cataclysm I didn't have data until I did a factory reset.
Did you overwrite your efs partition?

Hi,
Thanks for prompt reply, I installed adb and fastboot on my system, then i tried to execute "adb devices" but there were no list of attached phone, however in "fastboot devices" i get my mobile phone.
after this I unlocked the phone using fastboot and flashed TWRP recovery using fastboot.
when I restarted, network was not detected, then I flashed another ROM using TWRP, but same result. Lastly I flashed stocked rom using fastboot. then also could not get network. I did factory reset also....
I have no Idea regarding efs, Please elaborate me....thanks
Please help me.

Check if you still have an IMEI listed in About Phone - Status. TWRP seems to be crap as I've seen people talk about it wiping their EFS folder with a factory reset which it shouldn't do.
Huh? Who said twrp does this?

Use twrp 2.6.3.4, no problems. Op, check your apn

You wiped the radio firmware, its a easy fix
Flash and restore device to stock. this will install the radio and all stock images for the nexus 5
your device is now unrooted and locked bootloader. Check and confirm Mobile network
re root, unlock, install custom recovery.
flash custom rom and enjoy.
Thank you so much, flashed stock rom....now mobile network is available...
thank you for your support

How do I do it? I have a custom recovery installed (TWRP) and a rooted device. I know that I cannot use the OTA because lollipop checks the whole /system for modifications. But I want to upgrade without losing any data. I don't know how should I do it. Here are a few ideas:
1. Flash the OTA Zip using TWRP, I don't know what will happen.
2. Use the sideload option in TWRP, again I don't know what will happen.
Is there any way that I can upgrade using TWRP? It is okay if I lose my root, because I can root again; but I do not want to lose my data. Any help is appreciated. I am looking to use the factory image as my last resort.
Thanks!
You could root your 5.0 ROM and backup everything with Titanium, then flash the OTA zip and restore...

You can't flash the ota in twrp. Just flash the system and boot image from 5.1 with fastboot.

Currently on TekHd. I want to order update TWRP. What would be the process to do this without resetting everything?

Why do you want to update twrp when there is nothing wrong with it?
If you do update twrp to a newer version it would not reset anything.
Good luck,
Have a great day!
I'd also like to move onto 3.0.0.0 because MTP does not work on 2.8.7.1. I have tried everything and am unable to move anything off the phone in TWRP.

Nothing will be reset. Just download the version for your device in .IMG format and flash it in TWRP or via Odin. I have no issues with 3.0 and have been using it since it became available.

Download Flashify via play store, download TWRP IMG and flash via Flashify. Note be sure to select recovery IMG not boot IMG. Done!

If you don't do a factory data reset in the settings of your phone but use the factory reset option in twrp recovery instead then you will not lose your pictures or anything else in your internal SD card.
Odin flash the stock firmware after doing a full wipe of system, data, cache, dalvik and factory reset all in twrp recovery before Odin flashing.
Good luck and have a nice day.

Good luck.

It's easy to root.
Get the twrp Odin flashable TAR file , the noble version and Odin flash it after copying Jovys rooting kernel into your internal sdcard.
You can find jov23's stock-modified rooting kernel in the n920t original developers thread here in this forum.
After Odin flashing twrp your phone will boot into twrp recovery where you need to install Jovys zip file kernel.
Good luck.

After doing the above you can wipe and do a factory reset in twrp recovery.
