Most stable ROM? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Looking to update my S3 and give it to my mom to use on Total Wireless.
What's the most stable ROM that will require the least amount of tech support from me?
Thanks!

Is it a Verizon (SCH-I535)?
The model does make a difference...

Yes it is. The boot loader is unlocked.

Honestly stable is such a broad word/term. It's truly up to what you feel stable is. I've tested many roms for the S3 and there have been good and bad. But if all the roms I've tried I'd have to say slimkat was without a doubt the most stable
Next to stock it's the next best thing

I personally use TWRP for the bootloader and CM12. 1 for the OS. It works really well for me.

I tried lollipop on the S3, it didn't play well with it. I reverted back to kk and I use it as a wifi device only for music basically

We have root, xposed mod, not sure on the progress of the boot unlock.. Battery life stock is better than the nexus 5. And the g3 has outstanding stand by time too. Check out reviews if you're not sure.

and you modding folks are finding yourself comfy with the stock ROM?
I've had no issues with the stock Rom. I really hope a boot loader unlocked at some point
Stock ROM with root, Xposed mods and Nova Launcher = a great phone. Stock alone is just OK.

It seems like it. I bought g3tweaksbox
You can get LTE on TMobile with an AT&T G3. That's what I have.

I just rooted my AT&T LG G3 using "ioroot", took
me less than 3 minutes at most, rooted on first try.
So now I have root, but what about twrp custom recovery
or some other custom recovery?
Go ahead and unlock the bootloader while you're at it, then we'll be in business.

I must agree. Using mine in Hong Kong, getting fast LTE, smooth as butter, and battery life is great!
How is T- mobile lte

Just purchased LG G3 White

Hey community! I am currently and sadly a GS4 user with AT&T. Have had to deal with safestrap which im thankful for, never a full unlock. Just purchased a G3 off swappa. Definitely looking forward to having full control over my device without restrictions.
Read around and rooting is obviously easy. Custom recovery is what im going to be looking into next. Whats your current rom if running custom? If your still on stock, why?
Cheers

Hello and welcome! I think you'll find the G3 to be a great device, especially now that there is development for it. I am running my Candy5 ROM. It's based on CM12 with some goodies added. Give it a shot once you get TWRP flashed. You won't regret it :good:

Awesome. I did check that one out. And is already downloaded. I will be playing around with that one and of of course cm12.
Thanks
I'm still using cloudy ROM from the international thread. It is based off of the international stock kit Kat build. Everything works perfectly.

I was exactly like you except still had my s4 on mf3 firmware (which I passed down to my gramps): I got my g3 a lil after black Friday and love it. I'm running on pa 4.4.4 still since the battery life is phenomenal and basically no bugs. I do plan on going onto cm12 in the near future I think since its gone 'official' a few days ago. Btw I rooted mine with purpledrake

I'm a little confused. Wasn't the whole bumping thing website removed? Can development still happen if roms and kernels can't be bumped?

I just got an LG G3 a couple of days ago and still using my first Note (i717) as a tablet. I cannot believe how smooth and fast this thing is, originally I was going to get the Note 4 but I'd rather spend $1.09 than $249.99+tax. So here I am an LG G3 member and it's good to be back on the forums with a fresh device.
Until At&T stop acting like a little-baby-b***h and locking their devices, you can try the available tools and tricks to get by.

I also just got this phone and all I can say is wow. I had a S5 for a little white but I must say I honestly think this phone blows Samsung's flagship out of the water in all ways. Best phone I had to date.

Been a long time since update

The current ROM I have is BoneStockRom V3.3, I like it good enough but looking to see what else is out there. I do NOT want something that I have to flash all the time. I would like something more up to date, stable and has a better radio/signal than what I have now.
know I am asking for many opinions, but I love feedback, so cab you guys give me your thoughts?
THanks

As far as a radio you can update to the latest modem if you'd like which is NE1 without having any issues. I've ran tons of roms on my old S3 but the best by far was slimkat. It's truly up to you what you want but your best bet is to read others opinions

Thanks a ton for the advice. Is this the one you are referring to? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2400577
I also have a Note 3 for Verizon, but when I got it it had 4.4.4 and from what I have read, there is not a root for it. I mainly want to root to get rid of the bloatware and get the mobile hotspot freed up. I tried using FoxFi on the Note 3, but that was horrible.
Thanks again.

I have the S3 still simply because it is rooted. I got the Note 3 a few months ago but at that time I did not know that it could not be rooted since it has 4.4.4. I am using the S3 now because it is rooted and I can mess with it. If I could root the Note 3, then I would.

3 Roms, Superlite, stock and Paul Pizz. You cannot and it's nearly impossible to downgrade. A jtag is the only option. Attempting to downgrade will brick your device

Honestly I wouldn't know. I have an unlocked bootloader. You'd have to ask someone else on that one. There are apps in the play store to check the IMEI. Unsure what you would even need the test mode for as they have disabled most of the testing on the S3 models

Do you know what that means? (on picture). how can we know the device is already unlocked bootloader?
That means nothing much, only that knox/firmware knows that you flashed odin or another ROM.
Go into the stock recovery and post a picture of that.
If it DOES NOT SAY NE1, your bootloader can be unlocked AFAIK.
If it DOES SAY NE1, JTAG is your only hope to downgrade(and it isn't worth it on a device this old imo)

There is absolutely no way to unlock bootloader on kit kat or newer, period. Attempting to use anything custom of any kind will only lead to a brick and then it requires JTAG to recover the device but even that isn't guaranteed.

Question: If I never intend to use the phone on a cell tower again - meaning I'm just using it at home on wifi - does that somehow allow me to do more than just root on 4.4? Even after debloating, this thing is getting really clunky and slow.
I wish there was a way to revert to a less-resource-demanding OS so that this phone could be faster for browsing, watching Netflix, controlling smart home stuff, etc.

If you have 4.4 then you're stuck with it. Your only other options are using Xposed or using Safestrap Recovery with modified stock ROMs but I think Safestrap is no longer available unless you find someone that has a copy somewhere, I think the modified stock ROMs are still available, not sure, I have the Straight Talk S3 and use the Verizon custom ROMs, never used Verizon S3 or Safestrap but I'm familiar enough with the Verizon S3 to know what you can and can't flash it with.

Um no. It was locked down by Verizon. You can thank them for it. The real reason is because they like to make customers miserable. But no the real reason is they want to have control of everything and don't like it when customers can take control of their own devices
