TWRP 3.0.0.0 for the LG K10 K430xx MTK Variant - LG K10 ROMs, Kernels, Recoveries, & Other Developm

Hello everyone. Today I'm presenting you the first development for the LG K10 (MTK chipset). As you can see on announcement text this is beta stage yet so be careful and make you sure what are you doing on your device.
Note: This version can't be written over the stock recovery partition as this has further sizes than stock. Only can be used by downloading via fastboot. Check out installation instructions.

What’s new in 3.0.0.0:
TWRP 3.0.0-0 is out now for all currently supported devices.
Completely new theme - Much more modern and much nicer looking (by z31s1g)
True Terminal Emulator - Includes arrow keys, tab and tab completion, etc. (by _that)
Language translation - It won’t be perfect and especially some languages that require large font files like Chinese & Japanese won’t be availble on most devices. Also some languages may only be partially translated at this time. Feel free to submit more translations to OmniROM’s Gerrit. (mostly by Dees_Troy)
Flashing of sparse images - On select devices you will be able to flash some parts of factory images via the TWRP GUI (by HashBang173)
Adopted storage support for select devices - TWRP can now decrypt adopted storage partitions from Marshmallow
Reworked graphics to bring us more up to date with AOSP - includes support for adf and drm graphics (by Dees_Troy)
SuperSU prompt will no longer display if a Marshmallow ROM is installed
Update exfat, exfat fuse, dosfstools (by mdmower)
Update AOSP base to 6.0
A huge laundry list of other minor fixes and tweaks
BUG LIST
Can't mount /data partition w/o wiping data because of encryption
Battery percentage doesn't show the correct value.
CPU Temp percentage doesn't show the correct value.
No more(?)
Installation Instruction
Warning: After applying these steps, you might lose your data and your device will have been installed some unofficial stuff. So, it'll give you some warnings during boot up. To skip this warning, just wait till device boots up. To remove this warning, you need to flash whole stock partitions (check this thread to do). As I said above, I'm not responsible for anything. You've been warned twice.
Install right usb drivers for your device. You can find them on official LG website.
Go to "Settings->About phone->Software information and click continiously on build number 7-8 times. You'll see a tost with message "You've enabled developer options."
Go back and go into Developer options, and check "Enable OEM unlock" and "Enable Android Debugging"
Download ADB, fastboot and drivers. Run and install/accept everything. When you're done, copy/cut and paste the image file to root directory of adb folder. (Must be like this http://i.hizliresim.com/jnga7r.png)
Connect your phone with your PC, run command promt and type following commands;
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot oem unlock
-Check your device after this command and follow the instructions on your device. Apply the steps to unlock the bootloader. (This will erase all data)
fastboot boot twrp3_k430-berkantkz.img
And after all these steps, you must see TWRP screen on your device. It will ask you for the password. Don't worry, just click on cancel and voila! TWRP is done for your device. You can edit your system or flash anything with it. But it's not possible to make modifications on data partition unless you wipe it. You need to wipe data partition to remove password/encryption.

What are you asking for?
-------
EDIT: I've flashed over the stock but not able to boot into recovery mode. A warning appears and boots up normally. I'll try to fix.
EDIT2: I've ported a rom. I'll take a risk and flash it. Wish me luck
EDIT3: It's bricked
EDIT4: Successfully unbricked by following my guide. Wish me luck to be luckier in other attempts

And is it "fastboot flash boot recovery.img" or "fastboot boot recovery.img"?
Because you wrote "fastboot boot recovery.img"

This thread is not for rooting. If you're asking for does this work on K430DSF, must work. It has alos MTK chipset, as far as I know.
About rooting, I couldn't find a right method to root this devices. Actually, I don't need to root my device. Root isn't needed to port new roms. Root can provide you only customizing stock rom. So I'll try to port new roms.

tuturial

1. adb reboot bootloader 2. fastboot oem unlock, but this wipe data!
cmd run as Administrator. OR: On device- Menu-Settings-General-Developer options (if don't have then: about phone-common-software info-tap about 10 time on build number)-enable OEM unlock.
P.S. sorry for my bad english)

Lg l80 d380 cwm recovery & unlock bootloader

I have rooted LG L80 D380 v10d-IND-XX with Purpledrake-lite.
cwm recovery for lg l80 is being tested at below links but it is in russian language. Procedure for unlocking lg l80 bootloader with 'auto unlock script' and installing cwm.img with terminal emulator is mentioned. it would be helpful if anyone can interpret the discussions and answer some queries.
( ____SOLVED____ )
Bootloader unlock link:
http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=576048&st=680#entry37784411.
Cwm recovery installation link:
http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=576048&st=900.
Thanks.
SOLVED:
Bootloader unlock and cwm at above links are working for lg l80 d380 v10d. Originally it is developed for v10c. No data will be erased during the process. Backup and restore is checked working.
Some tips-
1) bootloader unlock script LGL80D380.exe have option for english language but only russian is working. There are 6 executions in russian language, i opted first one to unlock bootloader.
2) cwm 6_0_5.img to be installed with terminal emulator.
3) reboot to system from cwm prompts root fix ---> click yes.
4) to enter cwm recovery ( to be used only after confirming installation of cwm recovery, otherwise all data will be erased)
*press vol.down+power.
*when lg logo is seen release power and press again until factory reset screen is seen.
*click yes.
*again yes.
*cwm recovery will appear.
Note-
To check bootloader lock status adb command 'adb reboot bootloader' is not working. Also service menu code 3845#*380# does not have any option for bootloader lock status. But i think bootloader must have been unlocked.
Any other method for system backup and restore for lg l80 D380 ?

For fastboot mode, i have seen some some lg post at xda that it is hidden behind download mode. For fastboot you will have to disable download mode by editing/deleting some system file.. search for it.. i have not tried that..

When I entered 'fastboot oem device-info' , it showed tampered and unlocked status as false.
Then I entered 'fastboot oem unlock'. And again checking device-info it showed unlocked status true.
It might mean Unlocking actually worked by this modified bootloader.
Code:

That means we installed cwm.img on a locked bootloader and is working well. So can cwm.img be flashed on original locked bootloader without running .exe script.. have you tried cwm installation before running script..
Thanks

No, But I think installation of cwm was only possible when the script cracked the bootloader.
The bootloader got unlocked but the flag of unlocked status was not set.

I changed the lock status flag of my device as stated by you. Would like to know something more from you.
I tried rom porting with rom-porter guide as below-
1) port-rom cm11( for L40 with similar chipset,cpu,sdk etc.) and base-rom Lfino(working on L80 with bugs) from 4pda.
2) init.d not supported in stock rom and base-rom, but i copied init.d folder from cm11 to base-rom.
3) updater script in base-rom has set_perm and in port-rom it shows set_metadata. Editing gives error so i kept it unchanged.
4) All other steps were completed as stated.
After flashing the ported zip cm11 booted with a blank screen and again went to boot animation after few seconds. So what must be stopping the rom at blank screen after boot animation..
1) does cm require script to run at startup to boot-in thus requiring init.d which is missing in base-rom..
2) or is it due to the conflict of set_perm and set_metadata in updater script.
3) or something else.
i know its all crap and i dont know anything about development. Your comments please..
set_perm is deprecated since cwm version 6.0.4.5. We have to use set_metadata.
The problem you state might be due to incorrect permissions or unsupported libraries from l40.
Better would be to use ArchiKitchen to port as it takes care of the permissions.
As I know, it is very hard to port cm roms to non cm based roms because cm roms uses various scripts and custom kernel with optimizations.
The nearest device I found with working cm11 was LG L70 (D325 global w3ds version. Our is D380 w6ds.)
I have ported all the device trees and vendor files for L80 and will try to build cm11.
My current status is I am at repo sync and will take some days to complete. (My internet is very slow. )
As of now, I have successfully built cwm recovery and kernel (boot.img) for stock based roms.

I have buy a otg and don't work... im so sad about that .. well im gon a wait ..
Hello guys
I have managed to root oukitel u20 plus like 20 days ago, but forgot to post on XDA, here are steps:
1. Go to Developer options and enable OEM unlocking
2. Shutdown phone, hold volume down and plug in USB cable, keep holding the button until you see fastboot, for some reason controls are inversed it says volume up to select but its volume down to select, or other way around i dont rememeber.
3. After windows detects your device go to fastboot and type in command "fastboot oem unlock" without quotes, use buttons to confirm the prompt. After this you can use fastboot to boot TWRP. This will wipe your data!!!
4. Once phone boots copy SuperSU 2.78 or newer to device internal memory, and reboot back again to fastboot.
5. Download twrp from my link and put it in your fastboot directory, now type "fastboot boot u20_twrp.img" without quotes.
6. You will be booted in TWRP with Touchscreen working, select and flash your supersu.zip.
7. Reboot and enjoy your root and stock recovery for OTA.
Explanation:
For some reason when you flash TWRP with flashtools touchscreen is not working, but when you try to boot recovery instead of flashing it, the touchscreen works allowing your to flash zips and do backups.
Twrp link:
https://www.sendspace.com/file/biqa9f
Solution 2: (Not tested)
While in twrp you can flash zips with command line, without touchscreen.
1. Go to your adb command window and type "adb shell" without quotes.
2. Once in shell type "twrp install /sdcard/SuperSu.zip" without quotes... Adjust location and name of the zip file to where you putted it.
3. It will install supersu without touchscreen
Regards,
Magix01
dont working
Works for me, i can post screenshots for proof that i am rooted.

Go to your settings, scroll down to "About phone", tap "Build Number" 5 times, when it says you are developer now, go back and enter "Developer options".
Find option called "OEM Unlocking" enable that, then reboot to fastboot do "fastboot oem unlock" and then try to boot twrp image.
Check this image for refference about "OEM Unlocking":

Sony Xperia E5 F3311 [Root][Guide][Twrp]

After a lot of struggles, we've finally managed to root the Sony Xperia E5.
If you own this device and would like to root it, this thread will guide you through the process.
Requirements:
-You must have the correct drivers installed!
You can't proceed without them as the adb interface won't recognize your device.
-The modified boot.img for 37.0.A.2.156 which you can download here
-The modified boot.img for 37.0.A.2.248 which you can download here
-Twrp recovery which you can download here
-The adb interface, google it.
-Your bootloader must be unlocked via the Sony official method. If you can't find the E5 in the list, you can use the code of the E4g.
-Supersu 2.79 zip which you can download here
-An equal kernel (boot.img) to your desired firmware version. 37.0.A.2.156+37.0.A.2.156 or 37.0.A.2.248+37.0.A.2.248.
-The no-verity encryption fix (optional): (link to be added)
-30 minutes of your time.
I'm not responsible for any possible damage caused to your phone, even though it most likely won't go wrong if you follow the instructions carefully.
I can, however, provide support if your device is stuck in a bootloop.
I won't reply to questions, of which the answers are already mentioned in this thread.
YOU MUST MAKE SURE YOU'VE DOWNLOADED THE KERNEL THAT IS MEANT FOR YOUR SPECIFIC FIRMWARE VERSION!
IF THE TWO AREN'T EQUAL, YOU'LL HARD BRICK YOUR DEVICE AND YOU'LL HAVE TO AGREE THAT I WON'T BE HELD RESPONSIBLE!
Instructions:
1. Unlock your bootloader, check out Sony's website to see how.
2. Check whether the boot unlock succeeded or not.
To do so, you can open your dialer and type *#*#7378423#*#* .
A screen will appear, tap on service info and go to configuration.
Check the rooting status:
*If it says 'bootloader unlock allowed=yes' it means your bootloader is still locked.
*If it says 'bootloader unlocked=yes' it means your bootloader is unlocked.
3. Install the correct drivers for your device, Sony adb+fastboot etc.
4. Go to the root directory of your adb folder, location depending of where you installed it.
Hold Shift and right click to show a menu.
In that menu there should be an option called 'open command prompt here', click on it and it should start adb.
5. Make sure to enable usb debugging on your device.
6. Connect your phone to your computer and type this command in adb:
Code:
adb devices
If your device shows up, it means adb recognized your device and you may proceed.
If it doesn't show up you have to double check your installed drivers in device manager.
7. Type
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
to reboot the device to fastboot.
8. Now you'll have to flash the kernel and recovery.
Put both of the files into the root directory of the adb folder and rename them to boot.img and recovery.img, type
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
to flash the kernel and type
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
to flash the recovery.
9. Unplug your device and boot into twrp by pressing the power+volume down buttons. Keep holding the volume down button and release the power button quickly.
10. When you're in twrp, head to 'wipe'->'advanced wipe'->'(user)data partition'.
This step is optional, but recommended to avoid problems with encryption.
Update: the forced encryption has proven to bring limitations and issues to the recovery and system.
The updated steps are now mandatory!
11. Now head to 'install', browse to the directory in which you saved the supersu zip file and flash/install it.
12. Flash the latest version of the encryption fixed no-verity-opt-encrypt zip file, which can be downloaded from here
At first I made my own fix zip file, but I lost it and lot's of other projects, so the above file is a workaround.
13. If the installation succeeds, you may reboot your device.
Please be patient, the first boot may take a while.
It will reboot during the initialization, so don't panic and think it's a bootloop, cause it simply isn't.
I hope this has helped people with rooting their Sony Xperia E5.
I'm here if you need support, unless it's something dumb and/or already mentioned.
UPDATE APRIL 2018
A new modified kernel is available for the latest firmware 37.0.A.2.248!
The rooting process is the same as written above, but instead of flashing the older kernel and firmware, you'll have to flash the new ones.
Be warned, you cannot flash any newer kernel on an older firmware version and the other way around!
The kernel and firmware versions always have to be equal, no exceptions.
An advantage of flashing the newer kernel is that it should support Magisk, while the previous one didn't.
If you want to root your device with Magisk, or install both Magisk and Supersu, the rooting instructions will differ.
You can find new instructions here: (Link to the thread to be added!)
~A special thanks to rrvuhpg and Tu_Angel
Thank you a lot! It worked and now I have my E5 rooted:good::good:

You must enable oem unlocking in developer options.
To do this you'll have to go to settings, tap on about device and tap build number 5 times in a row.
This will enable the developer options on your device.
Now go to the developer options in settings and make sure oem unlocking is checked.
Now try to unlock the bootloader again.
It should work now, but if it doesn't, you'll have to check your drivers.
It worked perfectly, I had to restore everything because my phone turned on with fabric presets, but the technology saved me, my phone automatically did a backup this morning. Thanks!

Unlocking the bootloader always deletes all your data, I'm glad you've made a backup.
So did you manage to root it?
Well, right now im officially Rooted, but unsucesfully... My device is detected by Root Checker like a rooted device, but I dont know why some apps dont recoignize it. I have two apps what works with root:
- The first one ask me for root permissions but says dont detect root...
- The another app dont ask me and dont recoignize it...
But that everything looks fine, i dont know whats the issue.

That's odd, do you see the supersu app in your app drawer?
If not, install it from the play store and within the app update the su binary.
Also make sure that in supsersu settings, superuser is enabled and that mount namespace seperation is disabled.
Let me know if that worked out with you
I confirm you thats all ok, i dont know how to resolve the issue...

Hello.
Why do we need to flash modified kernel?
Isn't recovery just enough for installing supersu zip onto system partition?

Flashing only the recovery will result into a bootloop.
As this is a newer device, some kernel patches are required due to dm-verity, bootcheck, etc.
Also make sure to first flash the kernel and then the kernel afterwards to finish the rooting process successfully.
Good luck.

You haven't done anything wrong so far.
The two downloaded files must be placed in your adb folder
You must rename the kernel into boot.img and the recovery into recovery.img
Try to then re-enter the commands of step 8.
If it still says waiting for device it means you'll need to check if you have the proper drivers installed in device manager.
If you really want to turn your device off for now, you can long press the volume up+volume down+power buttons at the same time so your device will turn itself off.
I need help
After unlocking the bootloader, I can`t restore the backup.

bootloader enter your imei it will give a key following all instructions precisely. it tells you the rxact command to use for unlocking the bootloader. after its unlocked, open your command prompt in your adb /fastboot folder. then adb reboot bootloader. after reboot phone will be blank screen. you have to download twrp 3.3.0.0 .img its the most updated. do that before the adb thing. then after adb thing, when you are booted into bootloader.....fastboot boot twrpxxxxx.img
this will boot into recovery. make sure you have magisk 19.zip doenloaded to your phone. then just flash magisk from the recovery, after reboot install magisk apk. there you go. sorry all of this is not in order. ive done it so many times im skipping ahead. i can give a better detailed and precise instructions if needed, litterally walk you thru it, if you need it. but the instructions provided by all the download sites are great. its easy peasy. if you need bettrr instructions youre more than welcome to get in contact with me. you can keep the stock rom fyi. and theres an updated android 9.0 pie stock rom floating around too. im using it, no problems. you have to use xperifirm and flashtool to flash it tho. its simple unless its your first time doing, after you do it once youll ask yourself why it seemed so hard to get to that point. also, fyi, this particular is almost brick proof not saying it cant be bricked because, i did, several times boot looped it, everything, **** right now i dont even have a stock recovery because of some errors i made learning how to do all of this, but its up and running, its not buggy, magisk works great, stock android 9.0 firmware, just no recovery, but good ole twrp works just fine when you boot it for recovery. great phone to learn how to do all of this on. like i said its almost brick proof.

A) I get a stuck boot on SONY white screen when trying to reboot after a boot to twrp using fastboot (swipe to allow modifications and nothing else). Fastboot boot to TWRP was after a clean installation of Android Pie.
B) I even made a TWRP backup of the Android Pie rom but restoring backup runs into same issue of stuck on SONY logo). (well if just a twrp boot to resulted in a stuck boot (as in A) rebooting after a twrp backup restore would not have a chance either but just mentioning)
I am guessing we need a disable verity to avoid this?

Thanks so much!
ok I look through the instruction, just some question:
1. can I flash the TWRP without unlocking the bootloader?
2. from the unlock bootloader thread, upon unlocking the phone the phone will be formatted, any way to prevent that so I can do a full backup of the system? It is a real pain to reinstall everything.

1. No
2. No, the phone will be formatted. All you can do is, backup your internal storage data

You may use this adb command to backup data
Code:
adb backup [-f <file>] [-apk|-noapk] [-obb|-noobb] [-shared|-noshared] [-all] [-system|nosystem] [<packages...>]
-f : the path of the *.ab file that will be saved on your computer. This file is a compressed file that contains an archive of the data/apks from your device.
-apk|-noapk : indicates if the *.apk files should be backed up (default is -noapk)
-obb|-noobb : enable/disable backup of any installed apk expansion (aka .obb) files associated with each application (default is -noobb)
-shared|-noshared: enable/disable backup of the device's shared storage / SD card contents (default is -noshared)
-all : indicates that you want the entire system backed up. you can use the packages filter to just backup specific packages, or use -all for a full system backup.
-system|-nosystem: indicates if all the system applications and data are included when backing up. (default is -system)
<packages> : this is where you can list specific packages to backup. Use these if you want to back up only specific applications. If using -all, you do not need to specify packages.
This will not backup contacts or sms
and to restore
Code:
adb restore [<name of backup>.ab]
