I was deleting unused folders and some how i deleted the covers folder.
I tried to recover it by using some software but couldn't.
So is there a way to get the covers folder back.
Plz help guyz.
I don't have a "Covers" folder at all on my phone.
Do you have the exact path?
If it is a folder from a specific app i propose you reinstall the app.

Hi,
I accidentally put actual file instead of lnk into StartUp folder on WM 6.1. Now I can not delete the file becouse it's already launched and it's not even showing in list of running programs. How do I get rid of it in StartUp folder?
Thanks,
G
it might be running in the background. try using a task manager kinda program to see running processes (e.g. wktask) and you should be able to kill it and then delete it
or rename it from somethingsomething.exe to somethingsomething.exe.bak
and softreset
Or you can usually cut the link or file in startup and then paste it somewhere else. Reset, then you can delete it.
not if it's not a shortcut but he places the exe file itself in startup in this case it will be locked and cant be cut
Can you rename the file to something not ".exe" and then reset the phone? Would it work? I've read somewhere around here someone suggesting that. After soft reset, in theory, you should be able to delete the file.

oh..thanks .....and there is nothing free ?
EDITk i bought resco explorer...but i can't use the recycle bin: I deleted a file ...but the recycle bin it's empty...what's wrong ?
Using resco explorer go to menu-->options-->general. Go to the files tab and make sure all prompts are checked. Also go to menu-->options-->add-ins-->recycle bin and make sure 'Do not move files to recycle bin' is unchecked. When deleting files you should get a pop up that asks you if you'd like to send your deleted files to the recycle bin or just delete them entirely.

Thank you so much man
If you want to see deleted files in Resco Explorer then it should had been installed before deleting the files
Currently there is no way to recover those deleted files (unless if deleted from the system or ROM) which in case can be recovered simply by soft reset
Moving this thread to Q&A section where you will surely get better directions

I'm curious....I thought you couldn't delete anything off of the rom. Isn't it restricted in that domain? I know of a lotta things I'd like to be able to change, modify or delete from my windows directory. I already know of trying to access the files from activesync....doesn't work though. Is there another way?
Hi there.
is there a 'recycle bin' on the X1?
reason is I deleted a small video i was looking to upload.
so do we have a 'recycle bin' type thing, or has it gone forever?
thanks in advance
edit> if I do not have Resco Explorer installed, there is no way of recovering this video?
If you delete files from the device's storage you can't get them back unless they appear in the recycle bin.
if you delete them from the storage card, you can restore them/some of them using ActiveRecovery (for instance).
if you deleted something accidently, DO NOT copy ANYTHING else to your storage card.
take the card out, put it in your comp, and use ActiveRecovery to recover the sectors.
thanks very much mate
Hi guys! I have an Xperia Z3 D6603 running on official Android version 6.0.1 with build number 23.5.a.0.575, not rooted. I am not a tech guru and know very little of all these devices. My problem is that almost 5.0 GB of my internal storage is consumed by ".thumbnails" folder which I want to delete. I have searched some solutions and found out that normally people get some free space till these files reappear and in the mean time they can make this space useful but the case is different here. I have tried to delete this folder and all the containing files but even though the folder disappears for some time, I still don't get any free space even for a short time and the files start to reappear after some time. I don't have any Gallery other than the Album app and as it cannot be deleted, I have tried disabling but the problem still remains. I have also tried creating a new folder with the same name but the system would rename it to ".thumbnails 1" and another folder with the name ".thumbnails" would reappear . I had the same problem also with Lollipop on this device. I use FILE KOMMANDER, it is the system app.
Any help is highly appreciated.
The .thumbnails folder contain the preview of photo, image, an app generate that folder and it will be generate when deleted
I have some files in /data/data/com.something that are again and again deleted or rather overwritten by a program every time I run it. I'd really love a way to delete protect those files of mine.
Points:
I know that the files are overwritten because they are read only files so the only logical explanation is that they are first deleted and then replaced with a new file.
The files should be prevented from being deleted or edited but I also want that the data still be executable and viewable.
The files are in .XML format.
The name of the files and their current location should not change.
Last but not the least, this change should be reversible.
Can any human being help me achieve this or is this something that only the almighty can do?

Greetings and welcome to assist. If the files are in data then they can be overwritten if they are in system/root then they could only be ovewritten by a root application.
Hope this helps
Good Luck

Hello, hopefully I am posting in the correct section.
I want to give my phone app access to write and delete files on my SD card, but unfortunate Android remove this ability in newer android versions, so I found the following thread.
https://android.stackexchange.com/q...ccess-to-external-storage-to-an-app-in-nougat
When I plug the phone into computer, only three folders is found in /data, the system folder is missing. Why ain't all folders shown when accessing through computer?
I found the packages.xml file in using root explorer, which showns all files, I opened it, but I have no idea how to edit it.
Can someone give me a general instruction on how to edit the package.xml?
Thanks.
