LG Home battery consumption when using third party launcher? - T-Mobile LG G5 Questions & Answers

I just picked up an LG G5. My past couple of phones have been Samsungs. On my Samsung phones, I've always used Package Disabler Pro in order to disable Touchwhiz so that I could use Nova instead. I haven't been able to figure out a way to disable LG Home without root. My question is, if I use Nova without disabling LG Home, will LG Home consume power in the background?

I use Google Now launcher, and when I check the battery stats, LG Home has never appeared on the list of apps using battery.

That actually makes a lot of sense. It's such a simple answer, that I kind of feel stupid for posting the question. Thank you!

Looking for workarounds

Hello fellow Honor 6 users
Is there a way to hide system icons without using xposed firmware on Honor 6? I'm using a battery stats app and I like to save some notification space by removing the batt icon.
Another thing is, how to use the native/stock wireless display (like the screen mirroring of Samsung Galaxy). There's an app for that but the ads pop ups are annoying.
Lastly, on stock messaging, there's no button on keyboard to enter new line.
Any workaround for this problems? Help wlll be very much appreciated.
Thanks!

Few questions regarding Rooted Moto G

I recently rooted my moto g xt1031 (TY Smurf once again!) on the boost mobile network, im completely new to all this and have a couple questions which idk can be answered, at least not all of them.
1. when i lock my screen it locks differently than before it like closes from the top and bottom to the middle if that makes since, it look like its bothering to the phone and or harmful, which probably isn't. its just a bit annoying to me lol. can i undo this?
2. I installed AFWALL+ for the firewall. I have no idea how to use and can't find a tutorial for dummies, once enabling the firewall, do i have to check any boxes next to the apps? and if i do, do i check them in the blacklist or whitelist mode?
TY. :good:
The behavior you're describing seems odd if you have just "rooted" the phone. Have you installed another launcher?
I'm not sure about the firewall app, as I don't use them.

[Q] Noob needs help with Galaxy Tab 3

Hello all,
I'm new to the forums. I was directed here by a friend who said you guys could help me out. I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 that I am going to be installing into my car. I bought it off a buddy who already had it installed in his car. Let me explain whats going on with it and what I want it to do. I believe it is rooted but I'm not 100% sure. Right now it is using a program called Nova Launcher which allows you to use a program called Transparent Launcher so that I can make my icons transparent. This way I can make a background image with "buttons" on it and have custom icons. It runs a program called Tasker to turn the screen on when it sees a power source and off when it doesn't. That all works fine except when I hit the home key the background jumps around a little bit and then settles in the center. This only happens when I run the Nova Launcher as my home screen. When I use Touchwiz as my home screen it's perfect. Is there any way to fix that or another launcher that will let my icons be transparent? Also the screen dims out after 7 seconds and I don't ever want it to dim. Also I would like to put a soft keybar on the bottom of the screen similar to what the Nexux 7 has because I will not be able to hit the hard keys on the tablet once it is installed in my dash. I downloaded an app for that called Xperia/ASOP NavBar Buttons but it won't to work. Can anyone walk me through how to do all this or remote access my computer and do it for me? Any help Is appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave
Basically Nova launcher is sort of like a skin for the UI. If you go to play store and uninstall all the apps you won't be using, like Nova launcher or transparent launcher, they will go away. Also to use soft keys you will probably need to root the device and install a custom rom. This might be useful http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2459817 if you need to root/flash a new rom. And here is a link to a tutorial for enabling on screen buttons http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2690067

Ti Backup Bloatware Freeze List

So I'm running rooted 5.1.1 H950, and I went to town freezing everything I didn't use. I haven't broken anything, and my phone is snappier than ever (and my app drawer is less cluttered too, so that's always a plus).
Here is a list of what I have personally frozen on my Flex 2 without issue. I'm not claiming this is foolproof, so if you're uncomfortable freezing something, then just don't.
Amazon
Everything AT&T (They're not even my carrier, so it's pointless to have this garbage on there)
Browser (I use Chrome; Apps that access the browser still continue to do so seemlessly)
Calculator (Because why not have Graph89 as your calculator. The TI-89 Titanium has everything an engineer needs )
Caller Name ID
Device Help
Digital Life
Drive (Google Drive)
DriveMode
EasyHome
Emergency Alerts
Games
Google+ (Just because I don't ever use)
Home (Just be sure to have an alternate launcher set up before you freeze this one; I recommend Nova)
Keeper
LADDM
LG Backup
LG GNSS
LG Health
LG IMS
LG Intelligent Agent
LG Keyboard (I use Swype. Again, make sure to have an alternate keyboard installed before freezing this)
LG Keyboard Black Theme
LG MLT
LG PC Suite
LG PC Suite Service
LG Voice Command
LG VPN
LG Setup Wizard
LG Smart Cover
LGWernickeManager
LIA Informant
Lookout
Maluuba QVoice
Market Feedback Agent
Messages Backup & Sync (I only removed this because I use GV and hangouts to get my messages, if you have a standard phone setup, I'd think you should avoid)
Mobile TV
myATT
Smart Cleaning
Smart Limits
Smart Notice
(There's a lot of other "Smart" stuff in between, but I haven't messed with it yet)
Smart World
Tags
TalkBack
ThinkFree Viewer
Twitter
Uber
Visual Voicemail (Again, I probably wouldn't advise this unless you're using GV, but I don't actually know what this app does)
Voice Command
Voice Mate
Voice Mate Engine
Voice Mate Speech Pack
EVERYTHING related to Weather
YP
good job

First off thanks for your list @Cmcarboni. I was able to freeze everything that you suggested, but somewhere along the line when I attempted to test freezing other apps, I managed to screw up my phone. Right now, it reboots and appears to start up, but the screen stays black (no launcher visible). Pressing the power button once displays the screen off animation and holding it down causes the "Power Options" menu to be displayed. Additionally, I can connect to the phone via ADB, so I know it's on and working, but other than that, it's unusable. Do you have any suggestions on how to resolve this issue? Thanks in advance!
you probably will need to factory reset in recovery ^^

I specifically made sure that Nova Launcher was installed and set as the default prior to freezing any apps, so that really shouldn't be the case. If it is though, how would I go about rectifying the situation?
UPDATE:
I ended up Hard Resetting to fix the issue

Missing my Native Google Experience

Hey guys, need some help here. I've been rocking nexus 4, nexus 5, nexus 5x, and Pixel for the last many years and thought I would try out a Samsung. I got a crazy good BOGO deal on the S10e at Costco so I thought it would be worth a shot.
Well after having the phone for a few weeks now I just can't get used to the Samsung UI. It quite simply drives me nuts.
I've spent a lot of time "pixel-a-tizing" with Nova Launcher, Bixby button replacement, google apps, etc... but there are still several things that bother me:
1) The biggest is the phone app. I've been able to side load a few pixel phone app clones but they aren't as good as the real thing. I miss my visual voicemail!
2) The phone charges soo slow!
3) Screen brightness is weird. I've got it set to auto but if I manually adjust it and close the phone and turn it back on the auto kicks in and overrides the manual setting. I thought that the manual slider was suppose to act as sort of an offset of the auto mode? At least this is how my previous phones have behaved.
4) Android Q? I'm almost afraid to ask...
I'm very tempted to return this for the new Pixel 3a. I know it's inferior hardware but I would almost prefer that in exchange for the experience....
Any thoughts or suggestions? Is there a way to root this thing into something more google like? Thanks!
You can use the app "Power shade: notification bar changer & manager" in google play to have a more standard notification panel and use custom launcher like you said, but for the rest idk
