I got a 3500mah battery off ebay, and when i put it in the phone turns on and it shuts off when it loads the sd card every time, when i take the sd card out it almost instantly turns off when it boots up.
when its plugged it its in an endless loop of rebooting lol.
it says battery is at 61% right before it turns off.
not sure what i have to do to get it to charge..
whats going on here? please some help..
Edit: im using CM7.2.0 RC0-BobZ rom, and its an optimus V (virgin mobile)
is it original battery ?
its 3500mah of course its not original...

some guy at the other thread was saying that those 3500 mAh batteries are fake. Not sure if its true, but could be due to the price. You should get the 3000 mAh one on gizmos and gadgets website, that one is real and it has some good reviews. Or there is a similar one on ebay which is around 2300 mAh or somewhere around that, which is good and it is the same size as the original battery, so no extra thickness. Maybe they accept returns on the item you purchased, just check. Or if you payed with PAYPAL, you could get the money back if you complain saying that its not working, you will get your money back for sure.

Oh..then forget about it and get yourself an original one
i do have an original one and its lasts about 8 hours...
just wanted to make sure i wasn't missing something and it is in fact a bad battery.
is there any tests i can do on it with a multimeter to confirm its fake?
it powers on the phone and works but the phone just keeps restarting so it actually does work to some degree..
edit: i just took the oem battery out while it was on (plugged in) and put the extended one in, and it worked for a sec and then it says
"sd card safe to remove" and it turns off... so weird...
ahhh i found out why

I put a piece of tape over pin2 and it works, but i don't think I'm going to run it that way since I don't wanna kill my phone and it always reports 0% charge.
I'm not even sure if the phone CAN charge it.
apparently im not allowed to post links... not really diggin these forums...
edit: and i just found out it only works when its also plugged in to usb, wow, i guess i wasted 9 dollars but at least i learned my lesson.
DON'T BUY CHINA BATTERIES! lol
hmmm.... i wonder if there is any way to use the thermistor from the oem battery and put it in the extended battery... it would probably be very hard if not impossible..

good advice
Also try recalibrating the battery and erasing the battery stats since it may have been used previously lol
Hey all, just thought I'd share my findings with these batteries I've found for sale on Amazon. All the dealers I found that sold them sell the same battery with the same product ID as our Skyrocket batteries, even though they're listed as Hercules batteries. Well, THEY WORK PERFECT. Charges perfectly fine in and out of the phone, has NFC, and the same quality as my original (They're OEM, so duh... haha). DEFINITELY recommended if anyone out there is looking for a cheap spare battery with NFC.
Here are the links for a few of the listings. The one I got was the last one the seller had, so those aren't available anymore, but there still are a few out there with plenty:

Sounds way too good to be true....3 batteries+charger for $13? I doubt they are original batteries (despite the picture used on the listing). Probably more likely the Hyperion brand or such. I am hearing that they (so far) are working well.
Notice that ebay auction says NOWHERE that they're original Samsung OEM batteries, just has a duplicate picture of them. People have been reporting that the non-OEMs being made don't have NFC and have charging issues.
Just posting my findings. There are probably more on Amazon, but those have what I've found so far.

and probably no NFC ...
If I were to charge one of these (oem ones) and toss it in my bag how long do you think it would hold a charge for?
thanks and def will buy, big help man

It's recommended to give batteries a full charge after (I believvvee) a month of non-use. I keep this backup in my wallet for days and it still has a 100% charge. Batteries can hold a charge for quite some time.

Good to know. I might buy a couple spares to keep in my car and backpack.
but don't forget the old adage, if you don't use it, you lose it. id swap the battery every time you do a charge to keep them in rotation and in use.

I swap my batteries every time they die to prevent this from happening.
Found the Nokia DT-900 on AT&T's site for just over $25 after tax, free shipping. Bought it. Got it. My phone was at 85% battery. Let it sit on the DT-900 for half an hour. 84% battery. It's going back today. I have made sure the charging icon is up, it takes around 8 flashes for it to charge constantly. I am using the Diztronic case and am not going to try the charger with the case off. No interest in taking the case off to charge.
Has anyone else seen the DT-900 work well for them?
Update. Just checked it again and its at 83%.

hey there...
I think my battery is damaged. it's inflated and with paying HD game it last less than 2 hours. while when I bought my phone I could play 4-5 hours of HD games.
now, since where I live, there are lots of useless Chinese fake batteries, I want to know which one battery is good and how can I make sure that it's orginal.
thanks.
Order straight off samsungs website. If you want you can register your phone on the Samsung website and get emailed a 50% off up to 50$ discount so the battery and wall charger will be 25$

+1 to that! But you may also want to consider buying a cheap spare to carry with you in case you run out of juice sooner than you can get to a charger.
Also, be careful not to buy batteries that are manufactured more than a year ago. It is a known limitation of Lithium-Ion/Polimer based batteries (used in most phones/tablets these days) that their capacity diminishes over time. Even if they are not used, in a year or so they start to "go bad" and are almost completely crap after 2 years. You'll get maybe 70% of the rated capacity, and they won't hold the charge well at all. It's not a defect, just a downside of the technology. You can mitigate this by storing them at 40% charge in a cool place, but how many stores are actually going to do that?

I recently purchased a official Samsung Spare Battery for my N910C via a UK based online retailer. However I am having problems getting it to charge properly using fast charging. I've tried a couple of different battery calibration methods that I've found online.
Drain the battery fully then charge it and repeat the process 2 more times.
Drain the battery fully then charge it. After it's charged fully turn it on and you should notice that it's not fully charged. Plug it back into the charge and let it complete charging while the device is powered on. Then reboot the device and repeat the previous step if need.
But both of these methods don't work. Can somebody provide me with a walkthrough on how to correctly configure my new battery please?

I bought my replacement a couple of months ago directly from Samsung UK. Are you sure what you got is a genuine Samsung? There are so many convincing fakes about, which is why I went directly to the source to make sure I got the real thing. It cost a bit more, but worth it. Mine charged to 100% first time, and has been great ever since (6+ hours SoT). I never use fast charging though, always wireless charging. However, I did charge via USB the first three times, and two of those were from 0-100%. That's the only calibration I had to do. I would suggest avoiding fast charging for the first few charges (no scientific evidence for that, just my own opinion).
Other than what you have described though, I don't know of any other way of calibrating... this is essentially what I did "Use the phone until the battery goes to zero and the phone turns off. Do not turn it on. Plug in the charger and charge it to 100%. Drain the battery again and then charge it to 100%".

I would have gotten mine directly from Samsung too but they are current out of stock of the Note 4 batteries. I tried to calibrate it again but no joy. So I filled it a RMA form on the retailer's site and couriered it back to them for a replacement. Hopefully I just got a faulty battery.

Can highly recommend Anker if you have no luck with your replacement. Also PolarCell seem to have a good reputation - bit harder to get though: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00UQPU2V6
there is a good chance that you got a fake battery.
Anker success story on Reddit:

I ordered a battery and got a fake one, it didn't have the NFC coils in it (you can visibly see that there was no raised section where the NFC coils sit, and also NFC wasn't able to scan or detect anything). It also didn't have the water damage sticker present.
I returned it and bought from another vendor, new battery works great and definitely has the proper NFC coils.

The faulty one that I got was also a Genuine Samsung Battery with the NFC coil and everything, I'm waiting for the retailer to send me a replacement unit.
Ok, so my replacement battery arrived yesterday. I got it to charge fully last night before I went to sleep. I drained it today and tried charging it but it stopped charging at 81%. I was just wondering is this because I was sent a official UK N910F Battery which is not compatible with my UAE N910C? Is that the reason why my replacement spare battery won't charge properly on my N910C?

This is a problem many people are having, I have searched the net extensively trying to find a solution, but no luck. I believe it started happening on one of the updates to 6.0.1. The only sure fire way to get your battery to charge fully is charge it until it stops charging (usually around 78-92%) then take the battery out and hold the power button down for a while then put the battery back in. It will usually jump to ~96% and will charge to 100%.
If you drain the battery below ~80% the same thing will happen. If you charge it before it gets down to ~80% it will charge fully. Sometimes you will need to unplug the charger and plug it in again to get it to charge. Hopefully they will fix this in the next update. This last update finally fixed the random boots for me. Before that I had to flash the ROM or do a factory reset about every 10 days.

Yes, the same thing happened to me. It would only do it with the new spare battery, but not the original. I thought the new battery was bad and thought about sending it back, but then the original battery started doing it after a few swaps also. I've bought two more spare batteries and they do it as well. I have a couple of cradles I keep plugged into the wall and usually just swap batteries when it gets low, but it gets to be a bit of a hassle as I have a defender case. Hopefully it will get fixed in the next update. Hard to believe that I have 4 bad batteries, but I guess it's possible.

I think I will try buying some Anker batteries and see if they work better. I've been buying the "New Original OEM Samsung" batteries from ebay. I just read a review about the Anker batteries on ebay and it said the "OEM replacement batteries would only charge to 90% and he thought it was his phone, but the Anker batteries last all day now." They cost a lot more, but it will be worth it if it gets rid of this annoying problem. I will post a follow up after I get them and let you know how it goes.
I'm having the same problem. Are there any batteries that are decent quality from Ebay or Aliexpress? It's all I have to choose from unfortunately. Luckily the seller is sending me a new battery but I'm afraid I'll just get more rubbish
Same thing happens with me.. the battery will just not show the precentage properly.
But what i have noticed is that when it gets to around the 80% mark and you seen it takin longer than usual to finish... take the battery out and insert it again.. it will then show up at 100% charged.
What I have also noticed is that when it gets to 15%, the power starts to drain faster than it should even in ultra power save mode.
so dont know what to do.

Try going to anker.com and see how much shipping from there is. I couldn't find any shipping rates, but I saw their warranty which says they will "take care of all quality-related issues with a FULL REFUND including any return shipping costs" for orders shipped internationally. You may have to make an account and put it in your cart to see how much shipping is or you can just email them. They also have Anker batteries on Amazon.
They are located in California and I'm in Washington state so hopefully I should get them soon and I will report back here if it fixes the problem. I sure hope it does because the phone is finally working pretty good except for this problem.
