Hey guys I was wondering if anyone was able to get Wifi Tether Router to work on their phone to use their phones as a mobile hotspot. I transferred over my old settings from my Note 4 and I'm able to connect to it and it actually works for about 5 mins before it stops working. If i restore the same settings again via Titanium Backup it will work again for another 5 mins. Is there something I need to do to hold onto the working settings? Or am I doomed? I saw that TTObo created a technical guide to hide tethering usage on H830 but don't know how to compile an APK for xposed. Also I know that this works and I am wondering if there is some change I need to make to fully make it work.
Here are my settings thus far:
Wifi Tether Router 6.1.5
Wifi Channel: 1
Interface: wlan0
Method: HostApd
No Firmware Reload: UNCHECKED
Drives: nl80211
Wifi Mode: G
Prevents Stand-By: CHECKED
HostApd Patch: UNCHECKED
HostApd Survival: UNCHECKED
No Disable Wifi: UNCHECKED
Any other settings not mentioned explicitly above are not checked.
Please let me know if anyone else has working settings!!

Which settings are you using. I wonder if there's a difference between the G4 and G5 regarding the settings needed to make it work?
Sent from my LG-H830 using XDA-Developers mobile app
not sure why you are trying to use a third-party app instead of the built in hotspot app.... but you did go into your APN settings and change your protocol to IPV4 as the app suggests in the description?
if other devices can connect to your hotspot but can't connect out your culprit will be with the APN or app itself, if you can not get devices to connect to your hotspot it'll be the app itself. it'll either broadcast or it wont.

I've been trying to use several apps to enable wifi hotspot including wifi tether, foxfi, barnacle, and many others. I it will activate but the hotspot name does not show up on other devices. However when I switched the device to 3G it will show up and connect. After messing with the settings in the app wifi hotspot I was able to get it show up on other device but not connect. Again I switched to 3G and it worked time, just not 4G speeds.
Any thoughts. I am on a rooted SIII and have the latest Verizon version.

Here are some tips to help your usage:
1. On some models if you run into WiFi problem after using the Hotspot, simply reboot your phone and rename the hotspot before activating to clear the issue.
2. For some Samsung phones if your computer is not able to get an IP address, try to turn on WiFi on the phone first and make sure it does not connect to any WiFi network, then turn on FoxFi.
3. FoxFi is tested on non-rooted phones. If your phone has a rooted ROM it may or may not work.
4. When WiFi hotspot is activated you may also see a hotspot notification of the built-in WiFi hotspot feature. Please ignore it. As long as you do not sign up for a tether plan you won't be charged.
5. If you enter or change the hotspot password, make sure you rename the hotspot also before activating.
6. Sometimes Windows need a "repair" on the WiFi menu to get a correct IP address.

I am having the same issue with my iPad as well. I will try this and see what I can come up with.
running ics. i went ahead and disabled TetheringProvision.apk. i am able to turn on wifi hotspot through Widgetsoid. The signal is broadcasted but my pc is unable to connect. i have tried multiple other apps such as foxfi or pdanet+ but they also broadcast and i cannot connect. i have a rooted phone and can go ahead and use wifi tether but i would love to use the built in t mobile hotspot app through widgetsoid's wifi widget.
also, i am able to usb tether. BUT I WANT WIFI HOTSPOT!
NVM. ended up using http://forums.techguy.org/networking/1001732-solved-laptop-will-not-connect.html and just did some security key changing...and it worked!
Used to use WiFi tether router but it's not working on the lollipop update.
Anyone know an app that works and bypasses the t-mobile tether data limit?
Wifi tether Router App still working on LP 5.02 with these setting:-
Encryption = wpa2-psk
Wifi Channel = 1
Interface = wlan0
method = 2.Android version 4.2 OR Higher
**also from the phone wifi setting you have to uncheck Allow wi-fi scanning.
** after you enable wifi router you have to wait about
20 sec to strat to see the router name on your pc wifi list.
I tried the adb shell command described here and it works with the stock tether app.
I have no issues with stock wifi tether on 30b

I cant get this app to work since the update from tMobile last week. Emailed the app developer he had me try a few things (Method 3) but nothing worked for me. Other PCs just don't see the SSID at all. After a few days of trying App developer gave up saying other users are having no trouble with his app in Andriod 5 with the same phone.
From the original stock rom, i flashed the PK1 stock rom(deodexed) solely to have hotspot up and running.
Now hotspot is visible on the notification panel, i now have an app named Hotspot and another named Tethering.
Here are the problems :
1. Hotspot doesnt turn on from the notification panel, 2. Tethering app doesn't display anything on lauch, just the title "Tethering"
3. Hotspot app lauches hotspot successfully, creates connection with max connection = 1. other android devices can't connect, my pc connects but with the "limited access" notification, can't browse.
I am using this device in Nigeria, i read somewhere that the hotspot works only with U.S carriers. I dont believe this.
Any information to help will be gladly appreciated.
Thanks
Hi, I tried getting help with this on P30 Pro forum here, but no luck. I'm having problems with mobile hotspot on my Huawei P30 Pro. My notebook can see the hotspot, and can connect to it, but the phone just won't share the internet connection.
Bluetooth is turned on, and bluetooth tethering as well, and I tried both 2.4 and 5 GHz.
I tried USB tethering. Tried apps from the store. Tried addin "DUN" to APN type and always the same thing - notebook can see the hotspot, but internet is not working. Any ideas? The notebook is Asus Rog G751. Three months ago internet over hotspot was working, but since I only use hotspot when travelling, I have no idea what could have gone wrong in the mean time.

You have tried USB tethering as well as Bluetooth tethering. Have you tried the 'Portable WLAN hotspot'?
In the Settings of 'Portable WLAN hotspot', there is a 'Data limit' option. Check it and the device list, please.
Switch Airplane Mode On and Off:
This is a method that usually fixes the error and works for most of the Android Users. All the user needs to do is switch the Airplane Mode On and off. The airplane mode basically resets the Signal and Network adapter to help the connection be restarted again.
To switch the Airplane Mode On and off, all you have to do is pull the notification drawer down, and then look for an Airplane icon, tapping on it will activate it. Wait for 5 seconds, then tap on the Airplane icon again to deactivate it and wait on all the Mobile network to appear again and then turn on the data and the Hotspot of the device.
Change from Dynamic IP to Static IP:
Mobile data has a dynamic IP address, which tends to alter every time you turn it on. So sometimes setting up a static IP address will solve the connection problem. The steps are to change from Dynamic to Static IP:
Step One: Navigate to Settings in the connected device, select Wi-Fi connection and long-press the name of the Hotspot, this will bring up a Menu, this setting can also be found under Modify Network of the Wi-Fi.
Step Two: Change the IP setting from Dynamic to Static IP, and then assign an IP starting with 192.168.x.x (Replace with any number from 1 to 255). Do not change anything else from the settings, press apply and this should fix the issue.
