Galaxy Note 3 N9005 Snapdragon SoC / Custom Roms - General Questions and Answers

Hi All,
Im not new to this custom rom thing, i swiched from BB to a Samsung Galaxy 2, and been a galaxy fan ever since, and rooted every single one of em, along with custom roms.
But i'm geniunly stuck now, if you google note 3 custom roms its staggering, but almost all of them ive found and theres a few have issues.
Im tired now and my head hurts, what i want is Android 6 Rom, i dont care about the spen i never use it, i dont care that NFC might not work, but i must have something that allows the device to be used all day every day, so wifi, calls DATA, 4g would be nice since the device supports it, but i know how ficcle roms can be from time to time.
So can anyone share there personal experiance of the custom rom there using along with anything that doesnt work as expected, so i can attempt to make a more informed decision about my choices
Thanks all in advance

[Q] Samsung Rugby Pro

Hello everyone, I have been a long time subscriber, but sadly this is my first post, and since I have less than 10 posts, I can't really post in the developers forums. Thing is I recently switched carriers where I had a Galaxy S3, surprisingly still a relevant phone, I had it running CM 11, and I was happy with it. However since I left Verizon for Straight Talk, I had to first get a phone that was compatible with AT&T, since they wouldn't fully support my S3 (supposed to be a world phone, I know, I know), and I wanted the option to switch phone whenever I felt the need or want. So the phone I ended up with was a Samsung Rugby Pro, on paper it seems to have very similar hardware wit the S3, so I picked it up for $30 (good deal I thought). boy this phone was slowwww running Touch Wiz, so I rooted it, and put the latest version of CM that I could find which is CM 10 unofficial. Does anyone know where I can find any other ROMs for this device? It appears that development for this phone never really went far, unlike other devices, and CM 10 was all I can find for the Rugby, and it would be fine if I could get it to read the external SD card, I really don't want to go back to TW. So this is also my attempt at interacting with the great minds on this incredible resource. Thanks

Anyone see the generic galaxy looking phones? can you root and put custom roms?

ok so i see these cheap generic samsung galxy phones they ;look like notes or megas. so the question is can we root them and put custom roms on them and basically turn them into a nice phone? they seem like decnt phones and i myself like to have a phone and not have to spend a arm and a leg and since i can fix phones and am new to rooting and custom roms etc i figure they would be a nice phone to maybe use. i am a sprint customer so what would i tell sprint my phone was? to activate it etc. please if anyone has done anything with one of these phones let me know your experience thank you

[Q] Where are all the roms???

I've been using this phone since it first came out on T-Mobile. I've been pretty excited about it but the lack of Roms makes me feel like I should of just brought the note 4. I mean there's a bunch of Roms for that. Im the type that changes my ROM every week to keep it feeling new. We don't have cm12 yet or nothing and I get pretty anxious waiting. I check everyday expecting something to be added and everyday I get disappointed. I'm thinking about trading my edge for a note 4 in a sec but I really don't want to. Does anyone know if there is going to be more Roms anytime soon or what?
You could. .. develop one

First, in the first month the Note 4 sold 4.5 million units; Samsung says they are not even going to make 1 million units for the Note Edge.
The Note Edge is something new, and not meant for everybody; not to mention about $100 more than the Note 4. So a much smaller market is going to purchase the Edge (smaller market = smaller development).
Not to mention all development for the Edge and I would also guess the Note 4 is pretty much at a standstill until Andriod 5.0 (lollipop) is released on are phone, as there is no point starting a new ROM when you know you will have to build one from scratch in about a month.
I have a white T-Mobile Note 4 I will gladly trade you for if you feel the Note Edge is not for you. But I will tell you right now, there will not be nearly the development for the Note Edge as the Note 4. Just be thankful you have a T-mobile Note Edge, as some of the other providers have nothing for development so far.
This is just an ignorant post. You want Roms? Develop them yourself and then complain about why there isn't a plethora of Roms. If you wanted unlimited amount of Roms to try out I'm sorry to inform you that you chose the wrong device. It's been mentioned before that the quantity of this phone even produced doesn't even come close to how many note 4 was sold. Of course you will not see as much development especially on a niche device like this. aosp Roms would obviously limit you use of the edge so it would be pointless imo to flash something like CM rom. If you just want a debloated deodexed rom you can achieve most of it through root and titanium backup if you're savvy enough. 5.0 isn't released for the edge or the note 4 while CM has moved onto 5.0. Who in their right mind would develop a 4.4.4 rom a month presumably before 5.0 comes out and they gotta rebuild all from scratch again, you? If you don't think the edge is not for you sell or trade it to someone who would actually appreciate it or desires it because clearly I don't ever see someone like you being able to be satisfied with a phone like this. Maybe some research before heading out to buy a $1000 device could've done you some good too. When I got mine I saw that the 915S was the only one with someone even attempting to create a custom kernel and decided that it would see the most amount of development and snagged one. UpInTheAir has been providing great development for my device with both rom and kernel. We worked very hard putting lots of hours in trying to test so that he could achieve a stable build. With 1 post since joining in 2010 how have you contributed to the development community other than complaining that there's not enough Roms for you to flash and try.

[Q] noob questions about custom ROM

Hi,
I have some very basic questions about using a custom ROM in general, and on the Galaxy S6 more specifically. My old phone died today (Nexus 4) and I thought about getting the S6 now.
The problem is, I hate TouchWiz. I only really like Stock Android, which is why I got a Nexus in the first place. However, since I don't like the newest iteration of the Nexus (Nexus 6), I thought about getting the Galaxy S6 (because the hardware is great) and then switch to a custom ROM.
Since I've never done that (never even rooted my phone before), I just wanted to know the following things:
- Is it easy to put a custom ROM on the Galaxy S6?
- Are there custom ROMs for the Galaxy S6 that resemble Stock Android and still make use of its unique hardware features (eg fingerprint reader, camera features,...)
- I've heard some things about CyanogenMod, is it any good? Is it available for the S6 and is it updated frequently by the developers? If so, once the custom ROM is on the phone, will you get updates over the air?
- Will CyanogenMod for example also be updated to the newest Android versions (like 5.1.1 currently)? By this I mean, do the developers of CyanogenMod incorporate security and performance fixes made by Google?
- For how long can I expect updates for this custom ROM, for the Galaxy S6?
Thanks in advance!

Yes it is easy, if you take your time to read. CF-root>Odin>flash>rooted
yes there are for now 2 available roms thats are debloated and pretty much stock with some extra features
Cyanogenmod is probably the most common roms on every phonebrand i think
No its not available for S6 at the moment. And yes there are stable versions and nightlies , the last named is updated pretty much every day. As long as the Devs think there should be any updates =) hope i helped you
Just as a heads up you will find that some aosp roms will have trouble with this device due to the chip that is in it. Samsung doesn't offer any real documentation in the chip and lied to developers a while ago when they said they would. If you look back on older devices with the chip there are things that get broken. Your best bet would be a deflated touch Wiz rom.

Is a One ui 4 beta port for n20 possible ?

Hi everyone do you think it s possible with a update.zip from s21 beta one ui 4. To make a rom porting for ours n20 ?
Im pretty sure i ve saw ports like this years ago for old android and one ui versions.
Thanks
why bother when n20 update will follow soon
No need to port, the official one will come soon enough.
yeah i know but we don't know when and it can take time so maybe it will be faster to make a port
Most folks won't or can't install it anyway since custom roms blow the efuse for knox, or can't be rooted/install custom roms anyway.
i think so but for me, i prefer call recording, viper4android and many other. Over the knox security. i know it 's not the case for everyone but okay. i'm starting to think there s not a lot of custom rom developement on samsung now. i will think about switching to oneplus or pixels i think. i miss old days of flashing and testing many customs roms during a day
