LG UP won't work to flash it because it's not coded to support AT&T models (same reason that you hardly ever see tots for AT&T phones - I have no idea why they're against users flashing factory firmware to their own devices, but they are....). I'm sure someone could make the necessary edits though - it's probably just the .dlls. And hopefully it helps a bit on the development side of things.
Anyways, have at it!!!

So how do you recommend flashing that on v10s that already have 6.0?
Would this work for phones that already have 6.0 installed? Because if not, that sucks.

And also, how did you obtain this TOT? Curious.

Just did a bit of research, I am on Marshmallow 20j atm, and I checked the Anti TOT Rollback version. The TOT here is the same version as the version on my phone. So this is basically safe to flash, so if someone can just modify it to be a rooted system... damn we would all have root again! We also need the .dll

You shouldn't need a dll. The dll from flashing the other firmware should work just fine with 20j

When it comes to dll files it should only need 1 per model. Like on my G2. Same dll will flash jelly bean, kitkat, LP, and MM

Oh, then yeah. My LG-UP Recognizes my phone on 6.0. I don't think i should try and flash this TOT though yet, I know someone else would rather test it FIRST. But... I am fairly curious...
No one try this until i extract and review the contents or u could brick ur device no disrespect to the op but i already bricked my device once from following someones instructions thankfully i was able to send i in and lg replaced the paper weight for free

Yeah, not sure why you were using that program to extract it lol........ Something like 7zip is fine - you'll get all the imgs.
As far as for where the tot came from, all the partitions were pulled directly from an H900 running the official update.
As far as flashing, UP wouldn't recognize my phone - I was assuming it was the dll. YMMV, and you flash at your own risk

Ok, because I couldn't review the .aboot.img of the 6.0 one, and it wouldnt open, I tried opening it in a hex editor... and this seems weird. The aboot from the 5.1.1 TOT looks completely different from the 6.0 one at the very end... not to mention this isnt actually the very end on the one on the left, this is just the end of characters. The rest is just empty zeros... what?

The latest Gingerbread with Kernal version '2.6.35.7+' is rooted in Korean rom.
We ('cafe.naver.com/op3d') were eager to find way to root for a month, but when we find it, it was too simple, actually.....
Just go back to the 'ROOTABLE latest version'(not 'just latest'!) of GB,
and root your device,
then update to latest GB, with the UPDATING APP LG PROVIDED(look at the image I uploaded. In Korean rom, it is called EASY UPDATE('OmaDmClient.apk' , in uploaded image file), but I don't know it's name in other nations' rom).
DO NOT update with PC. It's no use. Update with LG Updating app ONLY.
Reset your system partition before updating, or you might fail to update.
If your nation's LG phone doesn't provide Updating Application made by LG, then I can't give you any solution..... sorry.
Warning : I just recommend, not confident about it,
because I don't have any idea whether this method to root is available in other country.
Here is the "omadmclient.apk" that is inside v21b for what it's worth...
I think only framework is updated in that device..
I don't think so... the Kernal is updated to 2.6.35.7+, which is originally 2.6.35.7 (not '+') in previous version.
It's application of LG Electronics, so there is no reason to lie to us.
And I'm using it(That's my device).... It is really better than previous one.
But I think some country doesn't provide new + kernal yet...
Not a lie,but bug..
I heared that updating the software directly on phone causes problems including bricks freezes rand reboots wifi issues etc..
hmm... I don't have any problem until now...
but I'll watch and wait for several weeks.

Hi folks,
I just got this device because of the massive battery (a whooping 4850 mAh) and relatively efficient GPU. I like it so far, and have used Kingo Root on it. But I can't find any custom ROM's to flash, and the device is not listed anywhere (GSMArena, CyanogenMod, xda). Does anybody have more information about it? It would be greatly appreciated.
Ditto
I have the same issue...
I have found the stock ROM (CMCC & CTCC versions V12.0.0.15 & V12.0.0.10 respectively) but am almost certain that installing these will leave me without Google Play.
My eBay app has already given up on me after 3 days (it now says "Unfortunately eBay has stopped") and a custom ROM is just the ticket.
If it is any help, this phone is also known as: T551TLC.
Any help out there?
If sources are available or custom ROM, why not compile it yourself?

I haven't got expertise to do that unfortunately, but I would like to learn how to do that. The seller had already pre-flashed gapps so I have no issue with that but:
1) There is no update option for Android on the ASUS stock rom (stuck on 5.1).
2) Flashing Cyanogenmod modifies the device in such way that it does not send tethering device information to the phone carrier. With Cyanogenmod 13 on my former Samsung I9505 I'm able to share unlimited data to other devices.
3) ASUS bloatware is unbearable. E.g. I get automatically made "slideshows" done without my permission, by an ASUS program that is impossible to uninstall.
4) The camera lags very badly.
There are other minor issues, bugs, etc that aren't fixed.

Have you tried installing on the TWRP or CM recovery, from the SD Card? If that doesn't work, maybe you can try using Odin on Windows, using a USB cable.
Also, how different is this rom from the stocks that you've found? Do you know? Let me know after you test it, and if it's good maybe you could upload it and post the link.

Thanks. I had seen some information indicating we MIGHT get some iteration of 7.1.x before getting 8.0. Who knows when we'll get 8.0 though. It's in beta now for the S8/Note 8, but even for those phones it's still probably going to be at least a couple of months before they get 8.0. And we definitely won't get it before they do...

Correct, it went from binary 4 to binary 5. From what I've read and gathered once you take the update you can't downgrade firmware because the older ones are using binary 4

One minor (major) thing they left out of the change log. People are complaining on the S7 forums because they can no longer flash to U firmware. I haven't tried it, but I've also seen people have issues with rooting now because they need an updated eng_boot.
Does anyone have this firmware for download? it's not on Samfirm yet and now im stuck in a recovery loop and trying to flash the previous firmware fails due to the new bootloader. Google shows nothing.

Here is the Sprint firmware, for use with Odin, from the newest release. I can't take credit for finding it -- I requested it in another thread and someone posted it for me. I have now put it on my GD (the link below), just in case the original one goes away.

So I'm curious and have found little in regards to answers, which leads to this thread. Given that there has been/will be an Android One variant of the Life released outside the US, even before ROM development would it be possible for those of us with the Sense variant to flash the stock Android One image if one could be acquired, or is there a hardware difference I'm missing that would make this impossible?

I agree. My machine isn't quite optimized for building. I sold my nice machine. Now I have only a 4gb ram set up. I don't think that's quite enough to build. Sorry
I've tried to look at Google's various repositories for builds, and they seem specific to Pixel and Nexus devices still. I am hoping that someone that got a global Android One version of the Life might be able to upload a stock image of Android from their phone.

I decrypted a ruu.Zip for a Android One version and there 2 images that came out. System.img and system_other.img along with boot.img the problem I ran into when I tried extracting the.img files is the system_other.img wouldn't extract. Also I believe are partition setup is different. The Android one version is set up like pixel I believe. I have the system.img but I wouldn't try to flash it. Kernel is most likely needed to get key things working. This weekend I'll have some extra free time to look more into it and see if we can't port it to our sense version .

I'd like to try this deodexed ROM if possible
NEW ROOT METHOD FOR S8+ V7 Bootloaders
[Root][SM-G950U/U1][SM-G950W][Snapdragon][V5_Bootloader][EDL_Method][Safestrap]
Rooted Nougat RomThis is last nougat rom made for S8 it is prerooted with flashfire and safestrap preinstalled. It has CSC stuff for all carriers added. Its debloated slightly with knox removed. Some stuff may not work but im not sure as I cannot test but this stuff may include fingerprint and or face recognition. If stuff doesnt work it probably related to using pie modems and non-hlos on a nougat rom which you have no choice.
Downloads
Rooted_G95*USQS3BRB1.rar
BL_G950_NOUGAT_V7.tar.7z
Includes Fingerprint and Face Unlock fix for above nougat rom. Just flash in BL slot in odin after everything else
Safestrap-4.10-B03-DREAMQLTE-PIE.zip Will boot straight to safestrap only for pie roms
Safestrap-4.10-B03-DREAMQLTE-NOUGAT.zip Will Give you the safestrap splash screen on boot
Directions
Safestrap Method
1. Extract system.img from the Rooted_G95*USQS3BRB1.rar and copy to phone reboot to safestarp and flash system image reboot to download and flash BL_G950_NOUGAT_V7.tar.md5 in odin
Nice! You always seem to come up with some way to make things work.
Congrats on the great work!

Its just what the description says. Once the bootloaders were updated on S8 it lost the ability to flash modified system images in odin. There for loosing ability to gain root or use safestrap recovery. This method will get that ability back
Sent using some kind of device I modified

Hey I just want to make sure I'm understanding this correctly, this gives us root on V5 BL right? Only for nougat image I'm assuming but this also gives us safestrap to hop between Oreo and pie too? If that's what I just read, this is exciting news and major congrats to @jrkruse and a major thank you to him and everyone that helped!!! Your dedication to development with our S8 generation devices is GREATLY appreciated by the community!
