Stuck on moving to SDcard - General Questions and Answers

I have Alcatel 5054D with a nonrooted Lollipop (5.1.1) on board. I tried to move some apps to SDcard by pressing "Move to SDcard". Some of these apps moved successfully and some stuck in "Moving" state. I tried to reinstall these stuck apps, but they still show "Moving" instead of "Move to SDcard/telephone". Clearing cache and rebooting the phone doesn't help either. I do not understand if they still in the phone memory or on the card. Any suggestions?

Not all apps are movable to the SD card. They're most likely on the internal. If you root you can get LINK2SD app and it will move everything you wish

I know that not all the apps are movable to the SD card. I could not have been able to see "Move to SD card" in this case. But the apps that stuck in moving to SDcard are movable, e.g. Skype.
Link2SD doesn't work on non rooted devices.

I am having the same problem. I have tried rebooting the phone, uninstalling and reinstalling app, clearing the cache. None of this works. Still says moving. Any ideas?

Same phone, same problem, no custom rom to root with, no support for model on Alcatel website. Can't even update existing apps because phone too full, need to finish moving these apps ... nobody knows how? Searched for an hour already

Problem with App to SD after latest OTA (2.3.4)

I've never tried moving apps back to the phone after I updated to the latest firmware version, but I tried it today to test out a few widget features. It was then that I noticed that I couldn't move the apps back to the SD card. I've tried rebooting and reinstalling the app and nothing works. This issue has appeared with all apps that I've previously been able to move back and forth from the phone to SD. For now, the "move to SD" button on the screen is greyed out... It doesn't bother me too much for now, but I'd like to be able to save space when I choose to again. Has anyone else had this problem?
Same here.... cannot move certain APPS to the SD card after the update, and I am 100% sure they were on the SD card when I had 2.3.3
It doesn't bother me that much for now, but it will when I start running out of space
For me too...any solution?

Low Space Problem Fix

Without root and without an unlock bootloader...my phone reads S=On and is supposedly network unlocked A108B Black model (just purchased on Ebay)...is there anyway to completely move apps to the SD? I hit "Move To SD" under manage applications and it sends some of the MB size to the SD, but part of it still remains on the internal space and I know this because the internal MB's keep getting lower and lower. It's gotten so low < 1MB that now I can't even download any more apps that can or will run on the SD because it says there's insufficient space...that and the HTC clean cache window keeps popping up...any way to prevent this from happening? AND to completely move/install apps that are SD moveable to the SD card and get them off the internal space? Or an app that will default from using internal space and move all installs and data directly onto the SD? I have 1.3 GB open on there..it's been a pain trying to get this thing to run right...any suggestions besides the "factory data reset" (which I've tried) that helps with this? Do I just need to root/unlock booter? or will that mess up my unlocked phone?
Anyway that I can install apps onto the SD from my computer and then put the SD card into my phone and it'll read them from there?
Also...all these bloatware apps that are installed..without root...is there anything I can download that will wipe them off the phone...or is there anyway I can get into a file manager and delete unnecessary files/apps off?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You should look under HTC Android developers forum for detailed guides how to root your device and how to install custom (read: CWM) recovery.
After that you should make second primary ext2 partition on your SD card (size from 512MiB to 1GiB, it's up to you) and install Link2SD from Google Play Store.
With this apk you' ll never have problems with low internal storage because it creates links of apks to SD card (data, dalvik cache...).
Sent from my HTC ChaCha A810e using xda app-developers app
1. Just Link2sd apk if it's complicated...
2. ehh, and don't install Google Currents, 'til they Fix their app, to make the cache moves to the SD instead of internal cache.
thank you.

Move to SD Card option missing?

Huawei Y300-0151
Recently, I reset my phone just to get it sped up and installed the apps I only ever use. But after that, the option to "Move to SD card" is missing under my app manager. It was there before the reset, I could move whatever I want. Now I'm running low on internal storage and I need to move things to my SD. The button isn't greyed out, it's completely gone...!
No, I don't want it rooted. It shouldn't have to be. I even installed App2SD, it shows me all the apps I can move, but when I click them, the button is missing.
jb 4.3 has move to sd card option back

[Q] Want to move apps to sd card

Hey, I downloaded a custom rom for micromax canvas turbo A250 by santosh. It is a great rom, however, the problem is that I can't move apps to internal sd card. There is NO option to move, and I've downloaded a lot of third party apps, but none of them could move the apps to sd card.
I rooted my stock rom earlier, and could move those apps to sd card, but can't seem to do it when I've downloaded a custom rom. Is there any way in which I can move the apps to sd card? Or would I have to revert to stock rom?

if th e third party apps dont do it, there should be a message of some sort telling you why. if it says that apps2sd is not compatible on phonee, then yes you will need to revert to stock rom.
i dont know if you tried this, but link2sd is a very good app for things like this.

you can use Link2SD or GL to SD
I didnt find any app for moving apps to sd card but only FolderMount for moving obb files and offline navigation data and it works great.
Yes, I have tried link to sd, and a lot of other apps. They all show moving, and then suddenly it just stops and goes back to the app. In the case of titanium, it shows batch move complete, but no app has been moved. I really wish some custom rom for my phone supports moving apps to sd.
And link 2 sd shows (INSTALL_CONTAINER_ERROR). Anyone knows this error? Can it be because my phone has no sd card but an internal sd card? Any help?

can't move/install to sd card on rooted phone

Hi,
My internal storage is full, I can't install new apps or update the current apps to newer version.
To get around this issue, I got a new sd card, with 32 GB. The sd card seems to be working well.
Anyway, all apps have the option "move to sd card" - DISABLED! Gee thanks for nothing, Android. :good:
I remember on older Android versions, it was possible to move apps and data to sd card. Now it isn't. From my research I know it's an Android feature now, but then why have the UI button "move to sd card" there? It's part of the Android OS. Makes no sense.
The only app that has this button enabled for me, is Facebook Messenger. I try clicking on it, but after a while it gives an error.
Today, I rooted my phone, thinking it would solve the problem and I could finally install big apps to the sd card, and move app data there as well. :fingers-crossed: No such luck. After rooting, still having the same issue. Any help would be appreciated, thanks. :highfive:
My phone is an Alcatel One Touch Idol.
