Hope some can help me out. I'm trying to add app to ROM zip so I don't need to install it manually. Have the ROM install itself when flashing it. I open the ROM zip with winRar and create a folder "data/app." I use Real APK Leecher app to download free app. I place apk in "data/app" folder. Flash the ROM w/TWRP v2.2.2.0 and none of the app got installed.
However, if i put all apk in "system/app" folder, it installed when flashing the ROM.
This is the ROM i use [ROM][S4] Virtuous Ville+ RC-1 | Sense 4+ | JB 4.1.1
Am i doing something wrong that's y "data/app" not install any apk?
thx

I have found adding a folder like that is not that easy which is a shame, think you have to edit something in the META-INF to get it to work but you could just put the apk in the system/app.
thanks Darknites.
Any different by putting in data/app or system/app?
Maybe this is old when i google. I also try to edit something so that "Unknown Source" enable itself when flashing. I google and saw somewhere in xda to edit xml which was locate inside SettingProvider.apk -->res-->values-->bools.xml
lol unfortunately there's no "value" folder in it...

Some apps don't like it for some reason so does need testing. Don't think its that I sure its in the folder I said. Its something I never looked in to because I use Titanium Backup for apps that don't work and/or have settings backed up with it.
Hi!
I have installed, rooted and unlocked bootloader on my phone with cm10.1. I want to install a custom kernel from a developer.
For example:
or
"http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2138478"
Where is the actual .zip file for cwm? where is the downloadable and installable zip from those 2 projects?
Downloading the repository zip seems not to work.

Hi,
I have tried developing a Lollipop rom using CM 12, but after the build it didn'd form a .zip file but i have got system.img, userdata.img, ramdisk.img, recovery folder and others. Then later i have created the zip file by creating boot.img, update-script and signed it.
The problem is why it didn't create a zip file and boot.img by itself (I have given the kernel path in boardconfig.mk and I'm using Java 1.7). When I tried to install my rom, it got installed (I used aroma installer) and I was able to see the files copying into the memory, but when I rebooted, "SAMSUNG" image displayed and it started rebooting again and again. Whats the problem and how to correct these.
Someone help me out, so that I can bring out a ROM with the new Lollipop version.
Thank you
I wish I could help...but I dont have any experiane in developing ROM's:crying:
all developers are busy in making their Roms...
they should collaborate on the real thing....

please help him ....anybody so we can have rom for our PHONE.....
I'm working on the prime for verizon. If you open BoardConfig.mk there are a few lines to change. I'm not sure what yours will look like but one of them is the TARGET_BOARD_PLATFORM line. You also need to check the locations and block sizes for the partitions. Should work then. I'm still working on mine so don't quote me.
Hi guys, I was able to extract system.new.dat from a rom (purity lollipop) and now I have the old good system with folders, so I can change whatever I want. But I tried to flash the zip and only the boot.img gets installed, the rest seems to be ignored.. What should I change in the zip on order to get it to install correctly?

Can I use the updater from the same rom but kitkat version? The things I install are the same I think..
From CM Gapps page it says
It is possible to perform a "backup" of the Google Apps on your device and then "restore" them, but this does take additional steps which are not covered here.

I'd like to know how can I do this.
I've searched all across the forum but had no luck. It looks like some kind of trade secret.
I know that it's not just a matter of pulling the apk files. Because I can see that the zip has .apk, .jars, .so, configuration and certificate files.
I'm guessing this is done by extracting the files from a system.img.
But how is this done?
Is there some script available to build a gapps zip from a system.img file?
Another thing is that my OnePlus phone doesn't has an official LP update yet (although CM12 and their gapps work fine) so I suspect this would have to be done using the stock ROM of another device, maybe a Nexus. Is this correct?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
