Hi Guys, really need ur help here. This morning I just get notification that there's an update for the software to MT7-TL10C00B561, I download it and then installed, but just realize that this is the chinese version and my browser turn to chinese (I think it's baidu).
Is there any way for the browser to turn like before and change the search option in browser to google.com?
Thanks.
Have you still got Gapps?, Just install Opera Mini browser with add blocking.

Hi Robbow..Which Gapps do you mean?
I don't get any preinstalled Gapps from this…can you recommend any good browser? or is Opera is the best out there??
So the ROM is fully Chinese then. They aren't allowed to have google over there. I find that incredible. This is 2016 FFS. Talk about government censorship.
IMO, ditch that ROM and get one meant for your area. Which area? Someone may be able to advise which ROM would be suitable.
Yes the app that came along is also Chinese.. I think it's because this phone is specifically for Chinese customer..
But I find it hard to believe that in this time, we still have this kind of limitations.. ?
If I get the new Rom, do I have to downgrade it first or just installed it?
I tried to download Rom from the official site of Huawei, but it can't be installed as it failed.

I use b561 in English and set google as default
I'm a Chinese user who has also updated my MT7 to b561.
I can use Google Play service and Default Browser with google (in fact I use Chrome more)
The default browser in b561 is a specially modified version of UCWeb, a popular browser in China which is famous for fast rendering.
The language for that browser follows the system setting, so if you want to change the language:
1. -Go setting, an app named "设置". You may find it by its gear-like icon.
2. -Advanced Setting, which is "高级设置".
3. -Language and Input, which is something like "语言".
4. -Choose English.
The browser and system should be in ENG now.
Then change the default search engine.
1. Go to browser.
2. Press menu button (three bars in the bottom)
3. Setting (gear-like icon on the bottom-left
4. Browser setting
5. Default search engine > "谷歌" (Chinese name for google)
Plus, if you want to install Google play,
you can simply install it from HiApp (the Chinese version of app store), simply search "google play"
* You may need to sign up a HUAWEi account to use HiApp

You can have a vip service for trial. But you need to pay for it then.
My suggestion is to use other music apps, since the built-in one is optimised for Chinese customers. I think the non-Chinese songs are not so abundant.

Hello Forum Members...
I am Ex-pat living in Shanghai China & just 2 days back bought GT-P5110. Unfortunately, i did not investigate properly before buying & just within few minutes of usage i came to know that this Tablet is lacking Google Play, Google Map,, Google Talk, Photo Share to Picasa from Gallery & even S-Memo missing...!!! Its been shocking to me...as i am fan of Android devices because of these stock features only.
Without all these things, seems this tablet is nothing more than a Digital Photo Frame to me. I called Samsung Customer support in China, they simply says the Chinese Models are like this only.....they have some of their own Chinese replacements to cater all these features...so no Google niceness in this. My frustration turned more severe when i came to know that it does not support even Flash. I am unable to play any flash contents in stock browser also.
I tried following:
I transferred FileExpert apk file from my HTC Desire to Tab, installed it & luckily found there 1Mobile Apps. Now i at least start downloading some apps.
I downloaded Flash Player from 1Mobile Apps, installed it - but no use,
I downloaded then Google Chrome browser, Mobile Opera - None is able to run flash contents.
Even have Google Maps widget in stock widgets, but when i am moving it to home screen, its just not opening, no response at all...when tap, the screen black-out & then return to home screen.
I even downloaded Google Play apk file & installed it, this also can not open.
Reader Hub, Music Hub...all taking to Chinese contents....OMG...pls. save me.
All online ebooks need Flash player plug-in...so i am helpless on that front also.
I tried to select country Singapore, India, US etc. while opening Samsung Apps first time, but then while downloading any Apps from Samsung Apps, it just says your Samsung ID is not workable in this Country!! If i select country China, the all apps available there are in Chinese only & Samsung Apps interface also in Chinese!!!
Can some expert here advice me if there is some way out of this...? Rooting & clockworkmod will help? I actually dont want to do so at so early stage & me not to expert to do all these.
I really need Google Play Store, Google Maps, GTalk & is there any way to change the Inbuilt Reader & Music Hub contents to English, by changing the Location to some other country or some other trick?
How to link the Flash Player app with Stock or downloaded browsers?
Pls. help.....
either your tablet being modded by others or its duplicate coz i have same p5110 from china and its working great .....try doing factory reset it might solve the problem ...or if u know how to root and flash this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1722099 its performing well for my tab .....all the best !!!
I experienced the same thing with the P3100 I purchased earlier this week (I live in Beijing). The issue is that the Chinese government and Google don't like each other very much so Chinese models take this into account. What I did was install ClockworkMod Recovery, and then installed a stock version from Singapore or anywhere non-China of ICS 4.0.4. Worked like a charm more or less, though I still have issues accessing some free and all paid apps in Google Play.
There's a How-To at the top of the Galaxy Tab 2 7" Android Developmement forum that's helpful. Also search sammobile or elsewhere in this forum for the stock ICS 4.0.4.
YMMV.
I'm really interested in this phone but should I wait for the EU version or buy the version they are selling in china
It seems ok frequency wise - https://www.frequencycheck.com/comp...-dual-sim-td-lte-64gb-nxt-al10/united-kingdom
I've seen people pick international English on a menu and it looked all English - is that correct ? - even the non google stuff
Would I have to worry about anything else ?
Any help most appreciated as I want to replace my one plus one that is starting to feel under powered with the amount of tasker stuff I'm running on it
thanks

You do need to check the frequencies as you have done. The Mate 8 has allot of bands covered.
Android OS on Huawei's phones have about every language available. There is some apps on the phone that is in Chinese, but they can be removed, and are for the china market.
Google Apps will not be preloaded, but you will need to download from the Huawei App Store called HiApp. That HiApp app is in mixed Chinese and English, so not everything is translated. After that you have Google Apps, and can download from Google Play that will follow your OS language.
I have had the Honor 6, Honor 6 Plus, Honor 7 and now Mate S, all the Chinese version and they have all been working fine here in Denmark. I have had no problems with network, GPS or WiFi here or on vacation. .
..oh, the change log for OS updates are (mostly) in Chinese

Yes, you do.
It is quite simple: Open HiApp -> Search "Google" -> Click on the Google banner in the top of the search results -> All Google apps is listed, click the download button for each (downwards arrow).
Other than Google Play, you need the Contact sync and Calander sync apps from the list. The rest can be downloaded from Google Play Store afterwords.
I had no troubles with a P8max recently, most sellers out of China will pre-install Google Play for you. My Mate 8 arrives next Monday, can let you know of if it differs any from the P8Max in terms of language difficulties.
Hi,
I bought a Mate 8.
It come with google playstore installed.
I arrived to install all app I want from google playstore.
The only problem I foun, I can't import my contact list, but will be solve for sure.
Two of us have Google contacts sync working, although neither of us is entirely sure how (I was granting permissions/trusted status/open from other apps statuses etc as a batch, so not sure which of those actions allowed for contacts import sorry).
If your google contact can't not sync.
Do you install the google contact sync? you can find it from the "huawei app store".
Install the google contact sync apk, and remove your account, reboot, login your contact again.
It works fine in my mate8 with google contact.
I can use almost all of google service in mate 8 now. (no matter google play, gmail, hangout, contact or anyother)
But, the only problem is that I can't get the location during google map without GPS enable.
Google map can't use cell or wifi to detect where it is, but it work fine with GPS enable.
I have no idea that how to fix it...
After searching the solution from google, it seems I need to root and replace networklocation.apk....
Is there any other method? (I don't know how to root huawei's device...)
I've recieved my mate 8 a week ago, and have had the issues that most of you are talking about.
Assuming the issue is from the battery manager itself; click on the setting icon up left of the screen, you need to switch on (Keep mobile data on when sleeping).
Of course that is in congunction with the rest of the settings/permissions.
Good luck,
Just don't forget to update emui

is it fast and smooth? is the cpu very powerful?
Yes - not had any problems at all.
I'm coming from a one plus one with a few badly writtern tasker profiles (quiet at work, and home nights with auto voice and autovera stuff), 3 mail clients including a touchdown exchange one. It was too much for the one plus but my new mate 8 is still flying.
Problems I have/had
The sync thing - was mashmellow permissions and a restart. (You do not need to wipe and restart.
The app draw - not a problem just a concept change the mate 8 doesn't have one your home screens are your app draw. So its a case of being tidy with folders. But swiping up on the home screen gives you an app search.
Dictionary - wish I could figure out how to copy the words I had stored in my dictionary.
Chinese App store - keeps telling me I have 18 apps that need updating - they don't the are just wanting to change to the chinese version.
Battery life - the one plus would last a day and 1/2 if I forgot to charge it the 1/2 I would start not usjng it, mate 8 will nearly last 2 days (it also gives me stats in ma about what is eating the battery)
Overall its a great phone

I've received my mate 8 one week ago... And unfortunately I had a rare problem with my notifications (whatsapp, viber, and other apps).
I did trust those apps from the system, and followed the instructions from the huawei guide, but the problem still.
So anybody have any idea how to solve this problem.
Thanks
Hi, i want to buy a Mate 8 but I'm not sure for the sync problem for google. what type of problem you have?
it is a great phone but unfortuantely I have the same problem with the google sync as well as not getting any notifications. Please help!
didnt someone mention that putting the phone into performance mode solved this?
Tried it hasn't worked for me
Location Services are not working unless you activate GPS - AL10 model;
Any solutions?
yeah, several other users already reported that energy-saving location services somehow dont seem to work...unless u switch to high-performance mode @gps
Hey guys, I am trying to login to Huawei services and I always get the message "due to service location restrictions the system is unable to provide services to you".
Does anyone knows how to bypass that?

I have had this phone for a week and the English support is fairly good so far, except for one thing - the browser defaults to Chinese. Is it possible to change the browser language, or would I have more luck trying to install a different browser?
Browser - Opera

Hi,
You can try Opera (not opera mini). It is really good, fast, blocks ads and data savings. It has phone, tablet, classic mode. I use classic mode as the exit button is closer to my right hand thumb.
Since it is difficult to make head and tail of that chinese language in the built-in browser, it is better to choose another. I hope Opera satisfies your needs. If it doesn't then there are other good browsers you can try CM5, UC browser or firefox for android.
Cheers!
Sam

Have you already tried with a different browser?

I have never installed the Samsung internet browser. But I am sure that you can use some search engines such as Google and Bing in the Firefox browser.
Update: I made the tutorial as simple as possible.
*Remove sim card or turn on airplane mode*
1. Go to Settings > System > Google Play Services
2. Turn on Google Play Services
3. Install latest Google Play Store from https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-play-store/
4. Install other Google Apps
5. To install Google Chrome, you MUST update "Android System Webview" first
6. Install your other apps.
*Disable first the stock Moto dialer, contacts, Lenovo Appcenter and LeCloud (as these apps will mess up your Google contacts).
7. Install Google sync contacts app attached to sync contacts.
8. Default Motorola Contactt app will sync your Google contacts (no need to install Google Contacts)
9. Default Motorola Calendar app will sync your Google calendar (no need to install Google Calendar)
Done.
-------
How to enable notifications in Motorola Edge S (phone will not kill the apps in background)
1. Go to Device Shield app
2. Go to Background Processing
3. Click the app one-by-one and update (as well as any app you installed that you want to receive notifications on time) to "Allow app running in background".
4. Go to Auto Start apps and enable your Google apps to auto start. I also do this with my other non-Google apps.
DONE. Your phone is now ready to use.
By going through this process, the play store will work with no issues after? Able to download whatever app you want or will it generate an error?

Yes. No Playstore issue whatsoever. Google will be the default app store to download, install and update all your apps. You can disable the default Lenovo App Center app.
Google assistant works too (of course you need to download the assistant app from Playstore as well).

You need to go through everything again
For those who do not need the Google suite, but only Play services dependent apps such as Play Store, Line, and GCam, enabling Google Services under "System" settings (>Advanced) works reliably and will update/install all your apps, too.
Loving the moto UI on Android 11, which lets you disable/uninstall almost anything including the built-in app store.
These steps work great so far with the 8gb/256gb variant. Only thing that needs troubleshooting from my end is the 5G band.

You could considered the Moto Edge X30. It's available now on Aliexpress. It comes with Android 12 built in. It has much better specs than the Edge S, including a 50M OIS camera and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 cpu. But of course, it more expensive.
