SD Card read and write speeds

I'd been using the SD card from my HTC Desire in my new Sensation XE, the new SD supplied with the XE was just put away. However, I thought I'd run some speed tests on both cards just for comparison.
Although the write speeds are very similar, I was quite surprised by the difference in the read results. The Kingston card supplied with the XE appears to be much quicker than my SanDisk. I suppose that will make a difference when it comes to browsing the gallery etc?

Very interesting
I know the class ratings are the minimum write speeds, so some manufacturers have cards which are much faster at reading than others but still get marketed at the lower speeds because of the write speeds. It would be nice if zdnet or cnet or someone would go through and test all of them and set up a matrix for comparison.
I am getting ready to pick up a new 32g class 10 patriot today at Frys. I decided to go with the class 10 since it takes too long now for pictures to be saved and then be ready to shoot another. I was reading though that the class 10s are faster at Sequential Read/Write which is great for pictures, but not necessarily faster than class 4 devices at Random Read/Write, which is better for smart phones running applications where the apps and data is probably not sequential. But I guess YMMV.

If you want to use it for a camera I guess it would be okay but if you want it for this phone you would need MicroSD and not a regular SD. :good:

Class 10 64gb micro SD SanDisk UHS-1 working [Video]

Class 10 64gb micro SD SanDisk UHS-1 working. Initially disappointed by the fact it would stutter with video/audio or both when used in the micro SD slot. Taking a look at XDA, others also are having the same problems with it.

Today, checked to see if the problem could be replicated in a Stock Transformer Prime. Absolutely no problems with it via the micro SD slot. WTF!? Put it back in the Infinity and all of a sudden no problems. The 64gb was to be used in conjunction with the SD card adapter but no more since it works now.
Exactly why it works now I have no clue.
1. Stock Infinity non-rooted
2. Did not format the micro SD out of the box

Out of interest have you crossed over the 4gb of data threshold on the card yet? Mine worked fine until it hit that and then crashed.

With a single file, I have not. None of my video files are over 2gb but I have moved multiple files that equal above 4gb.

[i9001] 32Gb class 10 SD card: need suggestions

I need to increase my external storage size (now I'm with a Sandisk 16Gb class 10 SD).
Yesterday I've tried a Sandisk 32Gb class10 but it does not works very well, I can take pictures, manage relatively small files.
But when I need to manage larger files (eg. 10Mb or so) the SD fails on writing, so I can't move ROM zip files or other large things.
This is not ROM related because I've tried various ROMs (stock also) and even under recovery I can't make backups cause the SD fails during writing.
The SD is fine and fast, I've tried on my desktop, on my laptop and on my sister's mobile phone (Sony Xperia mini pro Sk17i).
On my i9001 I've tried a Sandisk 32Gb class 4 SD and it works very fine but the speed drop vs. my current class 10 is noticeable.
So my question: is there someone with I9001 that uses with success a 32Gb class 10 SD card?
I need suggestions on brand an model.

OK, I've got a Samsung 32Gb class 10 from Amazon. Not sure about exact model name, the SD is completely black with brand name in white and size blue

The writing speed is very good 15 Mb/sec using benchmarks and 14Mb/sec doing a nandroid backup with TWRP recovery.

I use the Sandisk Mobile Ultra microSDHC Class 10 UHS-I 30MB/s 32GB, and it works fine for what I use it.
It is fast enough for all day use (listening music and taking pictures) and it is cheap.

never heard of 'em, but looks a little sketchy, unknown brand.
The sandisk is only so much more and I think they have a good warranty on their product

I have never heard of this brand and I do own the Sandisk Ultra and Ultra Plus 128gb cards and the Lexar 128gb card. The Sandisk ultra claims 30mbps, the Ultra plus at 48mbps and the Lexar is 95 mbps. The Lexar is around $120 from B&H Photo with free shipping but imo it's definitely worth it because it's noticeably faster than either Sandisk and not much more.

I bought this on on Sep 11, 2015, Now it just can't work. I can't delete, format, create new files on it. I put it on my new surface 3 and now I have to buy a new micro SD card. I can't turn it back to shop and get money back. because my business info are all there and cannot be deleted. so sucks.
