ZTE Radiant - Preferred Network Problem (Jelly Bean) - General Questions and Answers

I was using a custom rom by hroark13 over at AndroidForums:
I don't want to link to the thread since it may not be allowed, the thread title at AF is:
cm11-developer-and-tester-thread-for-zte-msm-8x30-devices.834705
He has since closed the thread on the rom and probably isn't going to do anything else with that rom. I was having a problem even accessing the "Phone Information", turns out you can't use *#*#4636#*#* on this phone, but I did find a code that did work.. *983*3640#
I am currently throttled and I'm stuck on presumably 2G, my problem seemingly starts here, I should be able to connect to 3G since the highspeed LTE data hit the limit and goes to 3G, the problem is, in Phone Information it appears to be stuck on GSM (PRL), some of the ones I select wont even change to it others change to it but when I leave phone information and then go back in, its back on GSM (PRL) again, like it ain't sticking. what could the cause of this be?

bump... Anyway able to help, I know someone can.

[Q] - Problem with data on Sky JellyBean 7.5.2 !

I notice that thís problem just happened today. Sometimes my network signal gets lost, as so for the data.
When I have my network back, instead of showing 4G Lte, it shows H ( OR H, 3G sometimes). I've tried change it to LTE as a preferred choice but it wont let me choose it. It automatically turns back to GMS preferred.
I don't know if there is sonething wrong here. It had worked fine ever since I flashed the Rom. Only today did I encounter such problem.
Anyone knows what goes wrong here?
Thanks so much for helping me out.

[Q] *#*#4636#*#* command somehow got my phone stuck on EDGE

Okay, so I'm sure plenty of you have seen the news about how the dormant LTE radio on the Nexus 4 can be turned on to work with certain frequencies by using the *#*#4636#*#* command.
This command is new to me and so I figured I'd try it out on my Nexus S to see what it could do. Got to it easy enough and switched around the network types for a minute or two. Then when I satisfied my curiosity I figured I'd just change the network type back to the default "WCDMA preferred" and go on about my day.
Wrong.
My phone is now stuck on EDGE. I have turned it on and off, toggled airplane mode, toggled data, pulled the battery out for more than 10 minutes (I know it's very excessive) turned the phone off for a couple of hours, made sure that in the phone's Settings that "Use only 2G networks" is NOT checked, all to no avail.
On the 17th, when I did a speedtest on my phone, my download speed was 6183 kbps. Today, its around 167-180 kbps. Consistently.
I have made no other changes to the phone. And just to make sure that it isn't a Rogers network thing and that it is indeed my phone, I put my SIM card in my old HTC Dream. It got 3G just fine. And its download speed was a few mbps as well (about 2mbps).
I'm currently using CM 10.0.0 and am using the same radio I have been using for months with no problems (I9020XXKB3).
I honestly thought my little experiment would be as harmless as using Android's "Use only 2G networks."
Oh, as it's been quite a few hours, I've done my fair of research and found that people who had this problem somehow lost their IMEI. Mine is perfectly (especially since I haven't made any changes to my phone). It's value in about phone matches the IMEI written under my battery.
I hope I've been thorough enough. I have tried everything I could think of and done my Googling.
Anyone have any ideas on what else I can try?
179 kbps download speed is really painful ...
Put the code back in, and change the type back from wcdma back to whatever it was, this should fix your problem because WCDMA uses different frequencies for anything above edge. Frequencies that rogers does not transmit in. So changing it back will allow you to use 3g/H again
Sent from my awesome Nexus S
Default setting was "WCDMA preferred" and that's what I've left it at.
Why not factory reset?
you can try a reset, flashing a new rom, or if you're feeling particularly crazy, try using the different settings (other than wcdma), and see if it works.
I've tried all the other settings. And I really don't want to resort to a factory reset even with a nandroid backup.
Surely, there must be a straightforward fix to this.
Edit: Okay, problem solved.
Instead of changing the "Set preferred network type:", I pressed menu, chose "select radio band" and randomly selected "AUS2 Band."
It worked! Don't ask me how or why as I live in Canada, but I don't care! I never even touched this menu before. So strange ...
Edit 2: Umm... I can't find the mark "solved" option.

Network issue during roaming

Hi,
I am facing network connectivity issue since the time I entered roaming area on my Matrix 2. It does not connect to network. It keeps showing no network, then for 2 seconds it shows emergency call symbol , then for 2 seconds it gets connected to network and again it keeps showing no network. This cycle keeps on repeating.
I searched for the issue and found that it is issue with atrix 2 software and the suggested solution was to install app called network and choose gsm only from it.
I tried it but it doesn't works for me.
I am able to make a call if I dial number exactly at the moment network appears for 2 seconds.
The only temporary solution I was able to find was to dial self number as soon as network appears and then keep on dialing it for around 8-10 times. Then it gets connected to network for 1/2-1 hour and then again it gets disconnected.
Please let me know if anyone has any solution for it.
I am on JB unrooted and using 2g network.
1) Try another SIM ....
2) try flashing ICS radio.img ...... (you shud know some fastboot commands) search the forum
3) try factory reset or reflash JB ..... it might work sometime
if you are using BSNL ..... then i have my sympathies with you :silly: lol
First off wrong forum, should go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1771
Go back to Stock ICS via RSD Lite 6, try SIM with other phone first and check, do not install apps for network improvement as mostly they just turn radio on & off, in worse case they can botch up some internal default settings. Use this for getting a view on network heat range & in particular tower direction to move towards for better reception https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.staircase3.opensignal&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5zdGFpcmNhc2UzLm9wZW5zaWduYWwiXQ..
Thanks for the reply...
I have already tried that, its not a network or sim card issue. I have tried inserting sim to other phone and it just works fine.
I put it in general section coz when I googled it I came to know that its an issue with every atrix-2 so every one might have faced this issue while roaming.
Also going back to stock have not worked for anyone. Its an issue with atrix-2 software itself.
You seem to have reached to your own final conclusions but yet please understand on JB 4.1.2 leak there has been no one who has echoed your issue (gps is definitely an issue & for some wifi on some particular bands). Also read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1425560
Try flashing the new 4.2.1 ROM based on official leak of 4.1.2 JB as I believe radio is better on it. On JB leak though one thing I can confirm is when phone enters roaming it automatically shuts data randomly and not always & user has to re-enable it. If all fails, fxz to stock ICS and if under warranty claim your stake.
Thanks...will try when I get back to home.
Although I have not reached to conclusion on my own, I search regarding this in Motorola forums and people facing this issue stated that they tried aall the specified methods. They were getting this issue on all os versions.
Please point me towards a link which illustrates issue same as your on JB 4.1.2 specifically.

D6683 - Upgrade to D6633 Marshmallow Firmware - LTE Connection

Hi guys.
Just trying to share my observation and explore if we can do anything.
I am using D6683 (I think it is support to be a HK based handset). Using Lollipop, it has been working perfectly but 16GB not enough hence MM function that allow SD card and Internal memory merge is appreciated.
Since Sony decide to ditch us using D6683, the only option is using D6633.
1. Try using MM .575, it has huge connection problem. The phone will just stay in GPRS mode even connected to a LTE network. Driving from one point to another point, will just cause it to data connection to hang. Putting it in airplane mode and anything else won't work. Only reboot works
2. Restore stock and upgrade to .291, first day testing seem to be ok. Got LTE connection. It did try to swing a bit but it has been maintaining well. This i started driving with Waze. Connection start to go haywire, but it will be still try to reconnect. Data are "maintained" to certain extend. Let the phone along for about 2 days, the next thing I realize, only GPRS left. The signal logo got no more H, H+ or LTE. Check the phone service menu and all info confirm the LTE is available. Again a reboot fix the problem.
3. Change the setting to only WCDMA + GPRS. The phone was "perfect". No data hang issue and etc
Need all the sifu help. Assuming if the phone is rooted, how is the phone determine the connection method? I presume that the phone will initialize the modem to dial the connection. Can anyone share anything that we can probably trigger a redial and probably eventually inject into the phone data connection sequence. Again using Lollipop, there is no issue.
Appreciate any comments/advice.
Regards
Dan

Stuck in bootloop when LTE service is enabled

I was hoping to find some answers here to a strange problem that's happening with my Poco X3 NFC.
This hasn't been much of an issue before due to WLAN coverage, but I'm more in need of mobile data right now, and wanted to use LTE instead of 2G or 3G which is quite slow in comparison. My provider does support LTE, I've checked everything on that end.
Whenever I turn on LTE, my phone immediately is stuck, gets a black screen and reboots to the recovery menu. After that I have to set everything to airplane mode quick, disable it, and then disable mobile data very fast to stop the loop. There's absolutely no such problem with 2G or 3G set, but as soon as I use anything LTE related it's stuck.
I've tried a factory reset, I've tried no SD card, I've tried both sim card slots. I've also tried every possible LTE combination set via *#*#4636#*#* and it happens with each and every one.
I've gotten messages and pages to load with LTE in my status bar, so theoretically the connection does work. It's just the bootloop afterwards that makes everything completely unusuable.
My phone is out of the box, nothing custom done or rooted. I thought that maybe a few MIUI updates would fix it because there were loop issues, but nothing helped so far. I'm running MIUI 12.0.8.0 stable right now, Android 10. I do have warranty, but first I'd like to know whether the issue might be fixable on my end.
Thanks in advance!
