New S2 won't power on(is it DOA) - Samsung Gear S2

I got a new S2 and put it on the charger until it showed to be 100% charged. I got ready to set it up and pair with my phone. I press the power button and absolutely nothing happens. No vibration, no sound, no screen coming on. I put it back on the charger and it now showed to be at 98%. Tried to power it on while on the charger. Same thing happened. Is there something I am missing here or is this a defective device that I need to send back?

Are you sure you pressed the power button?
Otherwise your device is defective, Its a good idea to send it back.

I pressed the right one. I even held it for over 10 seconds to try to reset it. But on the off chance I was wrong, I also pressed and held the other botton as well. Didn't matter which I pressed, the results were the same. I just went ahead and did an rma for it.

[Q] RIP to my Sidekick

So today, as i was on my way to work I accidentally held down the lockscreen button and the power menu popped up (I was on Glorious Overdoes V2) in the middle of a text and i pressed reboot accidentally... My phone never rebooted... It was stuck on the black Sidekick 4G/T-Mobile screen and then it would go black, then once again that screen would pop up... I removed the battery and put it back in, and without me pressing any buttons the same screen came back up... I let it sit for a while and after 20minutes nothing changed except the phone got really hot. Luckily I had my OLD Nokia in my car and popped my SIM card in it so that i could continue having a phone. I let The Sidekick sit for 4hours and it was extremely hot and then eventually it just turned off completely (Im assuming the battery drained, it was at 90% 4 hours before.) I got home, plugged it in and it wouldn't even turn on the charging screen. Somebody told me that my Motherboard is fried but I don't know. I called T-mobile and they're going to send me a new phone since it's still in the 1-year warranty period.
Anyone know if they're going to be able to inspect my old device and find out if i rooted/flashed it? because i can't get into it or anything to ODIN
I feel like they will try putting a new battery in it, and if it still wont turn on you should be fine.
It got hot because the CPU was churning over something and couldn't enter a low power state. I bet you could coax the phone into download mode and reflash it.
what do you mean coax the phone into download mode? by using the button combo to get it into download mode when turning on? I've tried that and it doesn't work. I tried rebooting into recovery and that wont work either. Also, it wont charge the battery anymore...
I've always had a hard time getting into download mode, and my phone works fine. I just spent 5 minutes trying different combinations until I got it.
I've heard people say trackpad-power button, volume down-home-power button, volume up/down-put battery in-plug in USB, etc etc etc. But the only method that works for me is to put in the battery, plug in the USB, wait for the charging screen, then hold volume down-trackpad-power, releasing power as soon as the screen goes black
You say your phone is turning on as soon as the battery is inserted? What if you have it plugged into USB first?
I had the exact same problem, I sent it into samsung and they just replaced a part(never told me which one) and it was fixed. I did noticed that when the sccreen was poped open to show the keyboard, it would stop. But it's probably a loose cable like I've read before.

Worst case scenario if you can't figure it out here on XDA, you could always sell it on eBay for parts as defective.

[Q] AT&T One X not turning on

I bought a AT&T HTC One X form eBay,the seller had a high rating and good feedback and supports returning Non working items,so i just decided to buy it.
When i tried turning it on,it didn't at first,so i thought it could have an empty battery,so i plugged it in to charge it,it remained that way for almost 3 hours.
it's not displaying any signs of life;no LED to indicate charging,no vibrating when trying to press the power button,no sounds, nothing on the screen...
I tried plugging it in to my PC,didn't end well too, when i first connected it,the "installing drivers" notification popped up for about a second, then said "failed to install drivers",i went to Device Manager from the Control Panel, the port that it is plugged in though says "Unknown Device".
I've tried pressing both of the volume rockers and the power button for about 10 seconds, didn't work,as well as pressing both volume rockers with the power button individually, still nothing.
before i tell the seller about this,is there something that i'm missing?
It took a long time to arrive and well take a long time to get replaced,so if someones got a solution, that would be great.
Also sorry if this isn't the right place to ask.
The eBay post said that it was fully functional.
Firstly, don't go trying random button combinations when you don't really know what they do. The volume up + power combo is something you should never do, it's puts the phone into Qualcomm download mode and you don't want that. The only button combo you should ever try is volume down + power, which will boot it into the bootloader. Leave it plugged into an AC outlet for eight hours and try powering it on again, both normally and with the button combo. If it doesn't respond you've got yourself a lemon, but honestly it looks that way anyway.

I left it plugged in to a charger for almost 10 hours, same thing,as well as the power button and volume down thing.
I've tried using the Cyanogen Mod Installer to see if it would recognize the device,it did,it's now downloading the Operating system,i'll stop it untill someone tells me if that's a good idea or not.
Personally, I wouldn't bother, I'd be returning the device straight away if it didn't turn on the first try.

How do you tell if you fried your motherboard or battery?

Yesterday my power button had some issues, my Nexus 5 was a brick unless plugged in with power, in which the Google screen will go on and off (basically boot looping). I decided to open the back of my phone to take a look at the power button, and got my Nexus 5 working again. HOWEVER when I closed it I forgot about the black cover that covers the motherboard and started trying to put in the screws in, (which was very hard). While fumbling to put the screws in, I realized that I forgot to put the cover on and had to unscrew my phone. But it was too late, I think I may have caused a electrostatic discharge on my motherboard or perhaps my battery due to the electrostatic being discharged from the screw. Though I'm not sure which one is fried, but I know one of them is. So how do you tell if which is fried?
and yes I it was very stupid of me...
currently my phone is bricked, nothing happens if I hold my power button, holding volume + power, hold it for x seconds, tried all that.
though when I plug my phone into my computer, and hold both power and volume button, it becomes connected w/ my computer and I could see it as a device connected to my computer, but then disconnects after a few seconds.

Device will not power on, no led lights, cannot get into recovery, etc.

Hi All,
I am having a bit of trouble with my Galaxy S6 device. I am unsure if this was the cause of my issue, though yesterday I had dropped my phone from a short distance. When I had picked my phone back up it was powered off and would not turn back on. This is not the first time my device has powered down from a fall, and this is not the first time I had difficulty rebooting my device.
My phone does not appear to be responsive to any attempts, nor does it indicate by LED that it is charging. When I dropped the device, I was just then taking it off the charger as the battery was at full/near full.
I have tried holding the power button, holding the power button and volume buttons, holding the power button and each of the volume buttons on their own, as well as holding the power button, volume down button, and the home button. I have not had any luck with any of these solutions, nor was the device responsive to any of these solutions.
When I plug the phone into its charger, the power brick does appear to be warm, though this may just be wishful thinking on my part. I have tried the power brick that came with the device as well as a third party power brick.
At this point I am going to try to get into recovery via ABD, but I am not confident that my device will even be recognized by my computer.
Many of my online accounts have an authenticator from my phone tied to them, I am desperate to get access to this again. Is there anything else that I have failed to try?
Many Thanks.
EDIT: I would also like to make note that I have taken very good care of my device and that there is no outward physical damage to the device. With this being said, is it possible that the drop could have rendered an issue with the internal components? Perhaps my device was still on and the screen just went out on me? Though would this also render the LED indicator inoperable as well? Perhaps the battery was jostled loose? Though in such as tightly packed unit, would this even be possible?

HELP !!!!! OnePlus Nord AC2001

I have an Oneplus Nord Indian version which broke into pieces during an accident. Now my display is not working. Before replacing the display I just wanted to make sure that the phone is still working. So I plugged it in and it vibrated for a second. I thought that the phone is booting without a problem. But after sometime when i put a sim card in the phone it doesn't seem to be working. When I unplug the charger and then replug it the phone doesn't give out any sound or vibration. So I thought about force restarting the phone. But to my surprise holding on the power button for a long time doesn't do anything because I already know that the phone will vibrate if it starts to boot up. So I went in and checked every flex cable connection. And when I replugged the battery again the power button worked, the phone vibrated but again after sometime the power button just doesn't seem to be doing anything. So I held the VOL + button and power button together and this worked, everytime when I hold those buttons together, the phone responded with a vibration. So I thought about flashing it with the MDM Tool as the data in the phone was not important for me. The flashing completed without a fuss and the phone vibrated again. And guess what, Its still the same. No charging sounds, none of the sim card works , no vibration when plugged in , the alert slider isn't doing anything. The only thing that the phone will respond to is by holding the Volume Up button and power button together. So my question is, whether this is because of not having an display connected or is the mainboard faulty here ? Because replacement displays are damn expensive and I'm not ready to buy it unless I'm absolutely sure that the phone only needs a new display. And is there any other way to make sure that the phone is working or not ?
I had a similar situation. I closed the trunk of the car and the phone was on the bumper and I hit it with the trunk lid. the glass cracked, but with a long press on the power button there was a vibration. I bought a new screen and replaced it. and everything works great

That's what I'm afraid of, if the phone is good it must vibrate when power button is long pressed which indicates that the phone is rebooting. Thanks for your reply mate. Appreciate it.
