My XFV came with XSG firmware from AMAZON!! Im not getting OTA - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

As the title says, i bought an g930f from amazon and it is an XFV (south africa vodafone i think) version.
The phone works like charm and it is unlocked, but it came with XSG firmware.
I guess some along the line flashed XSG on my phone, but the problem is im not any getting OTAs! im stuck on february security update.
How can a solve this? Can a flash any exynos firmware on my phone? Does it have to contain my current CSC, the original one? How do i do to flash a firmware in ODIN and be able to get OTA later on?
Thnks!!!

Yes that should be ok. I reflashed my carrier branded s7 (new CSC) and I get OTA updates for the new firmware

BTU firmware? VoLTE?

What is BTU firmware? and should I do it to my phone? Will it mess up my carrier?
I'm on EE (United Kingdom Carrier) and flashed this via odin (https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/116719/G930FXXU1BPLJ_G930FEVR1BPK5_EVR/) I didn't use HOME_CSC. I used the normal CSC. Is this what caused VoLTE active on my phone? Thanks.

BTU is the unbranded firmware, EVR is the EE branded firmware
VoLTE is active in that EVR (EE) firmware.
I did have XEU (seems to be a Samsung generic build CWH put on their phones) on my EE contract phone from CWH that didn't have VoLTE and I wanted it so I flashed my phone with that EVR build to get it.
I assume BTU (Samsung generic) won't have it either until Nougat where the carrier will be able to remotely send it's configs to phones regardless of build variation.

OTA Nougat UK

I have an S7 on MM, when are Nougat OTA's are coming to the UK? I don't bother rooting any longer but I am tempted to sideload if Samsung are going to take forever.
Depend on what s7 you have?
Edge G935
I'm on a sim only plan with BT so I own my phone rather than rent, I have spoken to BT who tell me its a Samsung OTA and they have no control, and Samsung merely tell me to to contact my Carrier.
Might end up sideloading!
It's already out. What CSC are you using?
Is the device network locked.
Can you install "Phone Info" app from play store and check which CSC is currently set as your active CSC. The CSC is the one based on which the updates are set.

I have the same UK firmware but with BTU. The difference is given below (Copied from someone on xda). https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6-edge/help/btu-xeu-t3100911
"I think i worked out the difference between BTU and XEU.
BTU firmware are on phones that come directly from Samsung (unbranded)
XEU firmware are on Sim Free handsets that are generic (unbranded) but not from Samsung"
You can now decide whether to wait for XEU or flash BTU. If you do decide to flash, backup data first and confirm that the active csc is set to BTU for OTA to work.

Is your phone direct from Samsung? Mine is Sim Free, unbranded not from Samsung.
Exu is Ireland band by the looks of it.

I brought it from ebay but I did flash the BTU firmware myself. My phone orignally had multi csc which included BTU and had a german (DBT) csc set as active.
You cannot change the CSC by device but you can flash a firmware with completely different CSC and then flash the BTU one.
I flashed mine with O2U firmware which made it forget the multi csc and then flashed BTU which set the active csc as BTU. I originally flashed the first nougat update release by Samsung and then received the performance update using OTA.
This might make it simple "You are not getting the BTU OTA updates because you don't have BTU CSC but DBT. You flashed BTU Rom but it's a multi CSC Rom and it has inside your original DBT CSC. So your CSC didn't change to BTU...If you want to have BTU CSC so you can get OTA upfates from BTU you have first to flash a rom that it's CSC is not inside the multi CSC you have now, let's say for example a rom with EUR CSC. Then you CSC will change to EUR. After that you can reflash BTU Rom and your CSC will change to BTU...Then you can take the OTA updates from BTU normally..."

Check post number 32, I added the screenshots over there as well.
There is http://updato.com/ as well if you want to download firmware faster (a lot faster than sammobile). I think they are official but have only checked one so far.
Backup the data first, flashing a different csc will factory reset the device.
That's what I kinda done I was on vodafone and preferred to be on btu so I flashed that instead but once I flashed it done wipe cache and data factory reset just to make sure all was ok on another note I kept wifi calling as well.

Firmware change - double-check please?

Hi all,
I'm back to Samsung after a number of years away at HTC and LG! Last Samsung was an S2 and so I've used Odin, reflashed firmwares, rooted etc. before so know my way around this stuff in a general sense.
I got an S7 from CEX recently to replace my broken LG G3 but the firmware on it seems to be a slightly older / foreign one and I want to get onto a clean UK / EU firmware, so I can keep stem with OTAs that I see friends' S7's receiving. My current firmware is baseband G930FXXU1BPJE, build number G930FXXU1ZPK4.
I've looked on SAMMobile and can see two options for UK unbranded; XEU and BTU. So my first question is what one should I use and what the difference is?
Secondly, when I use Odin to flash whichever one is correct, will I need to repartition? Or will factory resetting after flash be enough to properly correct the CSC?
Finally, will this still show up as an 'untampered' phone, and receive OTA correctly?
Thanks for the help.
XEU has the most updated firmware atm with a February security patch, where BTU is still on January afaik, both unbranded UK firmwares
If you flash them using CSC (Not HOME_CSC) which will reset the phone and change CSC, then you will remain KNOX 0x0 and receive OTAs for whichever CSC you choose, XEU or BTU
No need to repartition
I did read something about needing to flash to another CSC supported by the current CSC on your phone atm (Multi CSC) before flashing to the one you want to change to, but not sure about that, I've only ever switched between BTU and XEU, and BTU is multi CSC containing XEU too

Thanks, I'll stay alert to that possibility. I'll go with the XEU variant and hopefully be ok. Just need to backup my stuff first.

Hello, did you have any luck changing your CSC without Re-Partitioning ?
Im in the same situation right now (DDE CSC, still on 6.0.1) and I am kinda scared after reading so many posts where people bricked their phones.

Flash BTU to SM-G955F O2U

Hi,
I expect this is a fairly repetitive question but I've been reading for a bit and getting confused.
I've got a Samsung Galaxy S8+ with model SM-G955F. It's an O2 UK phone with a CSC of O2U. I'm getting a bit frustrated that O2 still haven't released their Oreo build, but hearing people are happily flashing the BTU software to their devices.
I can see the BTU software for download here: https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s8-plus/SM-G955F/BTU/download/G955FXXU1CRB7/211557/
Is it purely a case of download Odin and follow the instructions to flash the firmware? Or do I need to do anything special to change my CSC from O2U to BTU first?
Thanks
the process will factory reset your phone but flashing the CSC of your choice is fine from O2, I had a phone from 3uk and it had a code I cannot remember but I flashed the OXM CSC just fine

Changing CSC from H3G to BTU/XEU

Hi there.
I got this new S10E from Three network I UK. Phone is factory unlocked.
Because three is always a bit behind with updates I decided to flash BTU firmware on it. I downloaded latest BTU and after flashing it didn't show BTU, BTU, BTU. Instead it showed DBT, DBT, DBT/H3G.
I downloaded another XEU firmware but is was showing the same as above after flashing.
Once I've put the sim card in it changed to XEU/XEU, BTU/H3G.
I'm totally confused.
Is there a way to get BTU, BTU, BTU without root?
Or does it really matter now? Will I be getting XEU updates instead of H3G?
Thanks
Hi, I also live in the UK and have an unlocked phone from OnBuy and I'm on XSG which also slow as hell in updates. But since my phone is multi CSC and I think yours too, you can flash roms as I did twice with German updates. It doesn't really matters what csc you have and as far as I know you can't change csc anymore. (someone correct me if I'm wrong please)
Hope this helps
