Recover Data - Display dead Phone (Water Damage, Fastboot Works, NO ADB/MTP) - Xiaomi Mi 4i

Hi,
I wife recently gave her Mi 4i 16GB a washing... This is the status now
No Display - backlight works
Three capacitive buttons light up
Power button combos work (fastboot detects properly, recovery works but no ADB/MTP)
CAN TAKE call if a headset is connected, using headset switch.
Flashed twrp 3.0.2 using fastboot. I can boot into recovery and BLIND select options. I use my Mi3 with TWRP 3.0.2 as reference and touch identical area on Mi4i.
If I could get ADB or MTP I can backup data. Any ideas are welcome. Nearest service center is one full day away (8hr total up/down travel to city)

No replies??? ?

[Q] ODIN Custom OS

I recently tried to use ODIN to reinstall Android because I felt my phone to be slow in showing up and running certain applications. I did a factory reset before that, but unfortunately it didn't solve my problem. But after installation using ODIN, my phone went into a boot loop. I tried few attempts reinstalling with ODIN but was unsuccessful. I tried even with PIT files. But after that even the bootloop stopped and there was only a black power screen which was visible. But still I was able to access Volume-up + Power + Home button combination to bring up ODIN. I agree that I shouldn't have attempted custom ROM, but still something puzzles me about Samsung Service Center.
The unfortunate thing happened when I went to Samsung Mobile Service Center I was shocked to hear that my mobile needed a LCD SCREEN REPLACEMENT. But I couldnt understand the purpose for it when there was no physical damage and LCD was working fine because, when I gave the mobile for service, I was able to access the Custom ROM installation screen through Volume-up + Power + Home button.
After their inspection, my mobile flashed only a white screen which was not present before. Now I cant access even ODIN screen. I dont understand how it can be a problem with LCD. They have said it would cost 2,200 for LCD replacement. But as I said, LCD was working fine before I gave my mobile for service as I was able to access ODIN screen.
I just had to take my mobile back without servicing, fearing more damage and charges.
I would like to know if LCD replacement should be done just because of using ODIN to install custom ROM. What can I do further? Give in the same service center or some other service center ? Pls help.

Broken GPU? Also How to RMA?

Hi guys, today my OnePlus broke, i think.
20 Minutes ago i was still using it normal.
Then, i turn the screen on and see this:
http://imgur.com/GP2563K
as you can see in the below video, the phone is completely operational, i can use whatsapp web from my pc and the colors of the stripes change according to what should be on the screen:
http://youtu.be/QlO-ttkmVms
i suspect that the gpu has a defect or maybe the connection to screen got loose, even though i did not drop the phone before this started.
the same thing is seen while booting and in the recovery, so it is not a problem with the os itself. what i need to know now, is:
-pictures of cwm so i can go to the backup menu and put a system backup on my pc and then wipe,
-how do i start an rma on the oneplus site? also i have rooted and unlocked the phone, how is one plus going to determine if that caused the error or not? (i know that is not the cause, but i want to be certain that i wont get denied my warranty)
-also if oneplus will send me a new phone, can i ask them to send one with the old backcover? i dont like the covers without the cyngn logo.
UPDATE: via https://code.google.com/p/androidscreencast/ i managed to start chromecast screenshare and now i can see the screen on tv. the image on tv and pc looks normal so maybe the screen is broken?
Hope you can get it fixed

Try to going to fastboot (i know you see nothing but try it) and flash clean cm11s and then reboot the phone .....
Hope its not on HW ...
Strange...I heard about people who had problems with a green line which appeared random at the right / left side of the screen when they simply turned it on and that problem was something related to pixels and they solved it by playing a video (like this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VN-KIlsxxOw ) for many hours. Try it and if this doesn't work then the only solution remaining before sending it to repair is a complete fastboot reflash of stock cm11s.
flash philz touch recovery which can be used with hardware buttons and to perform a backup do this:
1) press 3 times the back volume button (the button used to lower the volume when listening to music for example)
2) press home button (the soft-touch home button)
3) press again home button.
The recovery will start performig a backup...the phone will vibrate for 1-2 seconds when it will be done and it should last max 2 min (don't worry you will notice it). Anyway, since the philz touch recovery is cwm-based it could be that the buttons to press are the same for the original cwm recovery but it's a bit risky...
Now turn off the phone (keep the power button pressed for 10 seconds) then boot it again and plug it to to pc and you can find your backup files on the clockwormod folder.
Now you can perform the complete fastboot reflash. Good luck.

Mi4 Stucked in Recovery after screen replacement

Hey guys. I'm pretty desperate so i decided to make this thread.
Here is my problem:
I have changed screen on my phone today. Everything went without any problems since I tried to turn on the phone.
When I tried to turn it on I can see only MI logo on display ... Then after couple of seconds phone will restart automatically and goes into Recovery mode.
I tried to boot it from there without any results. Also tried to reset and wipe data without any results.
The biggest problem is that I cant even get into Fastboot menu by pressing Power button + volume down button. So I cant connect my phone with PC and try to flash new ROM.
Any suggestions? I would be really thankful for any advice.
Thank you very much.

Did you follow a tutorial for replacing the screen on your device? Where did you get the screen from? Was your screen replacement just the Touch Panel or the full screen replacement with LCD + Touch Panel? Was it an actual Xiaomi part or an aftermarket part? I would take your device apart again and make sure you didn't leave something loose or disconnected.
Quick question. Was you old display still working where you could see what was going on? Like, was it just cracked or was it completely inoperable?

Thanks for reply. Yes I followed complete tutorial on youtube. Screen is from ebay. It should be original. I replaced full screen ( lcd + touch panel ).
So found simillar problem as mine - due to improper installation of back cover volume up button was pressed which caused that phone went to recovery menu after start ... ( you have to hold volume up + power key to get to Recovery menu). So I tried to dismantle it again but it didnt help. Still have same problem.
Yes old display is alright. I can see everything just touch screen is broken so I cant do anything on it. But I cant imagine this would be problem of display ....
Give your craftsmanship and handiwork the benefit of the doubt and install your old LCD+Touch Panel and see what happens. If you have everything installed correctly with every cable connected to it proper location then you should be able to boot normally.

broken mainboard??? How to save data?

Hi!
Soon after a touchscreen repair my E6653 stopped displaying anything on the screen. A return to the workshop revealed that probably the graphics chip is broken - the screen lights up, but it's all black and never shows anything.
Now I'm trying to boot up the phone - as far as I can tell it seems to be working, but without seeing anything it's hard to enter the SIM PIN or the lockscreen code correctly - I didn't succeed so far.
But it's getting worse - I'm neither able to enter recovery (TWRP 3.x) nor is the phone going into fastboot mode when pressing VOL DOWN while connecting the USB cable.
To me this looks like the mainboard is broken - any other ideas? How could I find out?
And more important: Any ideas how to save data???

I haven't sent my device to local support. If your device is still under warranty, they will do everything freely. But sometimes there will be some small errors come affter that, I have seen a lot of small errors originate from warranty in Z5 series group (vietnam)
My phone is under warranty but there's no service center in my area so unable to do that
In device manager(pc) shows somc flash driver connected to pc
z5 dual dont boot no fastboot or download mode no red light plz help me
in pc device manager shown as somc flash device
Try holding power+up vol + down vol all at the same time. This will force the phone to boot. My Z5 premium randomly will either freeze where there is no response to any thing screen, buttons etc, or it will just power down and will not turn back on. that's when i know I have to hold those three buttons down and it will boot back up. I have noticed that sometimes all my paired bluetooth devices will need to be re-pair any since the paring for them gets wiped out. Not sure what determines whether they stick or get deleted.
