Hello everyone, i have a memory card of 16Gb (transcend class 10) and i partitioned it into two parts. So that i can use a partition as internal storage for installing apps in Marshmallow Roms. The problem is when i select a partition to be formatted as internal storage both the partitions get merged. How can i use the two partitions seperately? How can i use one partition for installing apps and another partition for keeping media?
(Pardon me if i posted in the wrong place. As I'm a noob in XDA)

i try out this method to SPLIT the SD CARD BETWEEN ADOPTED INTERNAL STORAGE AND PORTABLE EXTERNAL STORAGE.
it work. just follow the instruction on this website :http://blog.sam.liddicott.com/2016/...roidlessons.com/how-to-move-...0-marshmallow/
if you face the problem of adb devices no unauthorized . please follow the solution given here :http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2...e-unauthorized
thank for pengkoh1

http://blog.sam.liddicott.com/2016/02/android-6-semi-adopted-storage.html?m=1
I have a question.
I have a Sony Xperia L.
I'm using the CM 12.1.
I think of migrating CM13 is because of adoptable storage.
Now I have 1.57 GB of internal memory, 4GB internal storage (SD0) and a Micro SD Class 10 with 8 GB.
As I have many applications installed. While using "Move to SD card" easily fill the internal memory (1.57 GB).
I think turn SD 0 in "adoptable storage", would solve all my problems and not create others.
1) Micro SD (SD1) continue to be FAT32. So could continue putting my pictures and music. No problem. When you want to install new ROMs would not need format my SD Card.
2) The "adoptable storage" will be inside the unit, the same unit of physical memory to the internal memory, with the same safety and speed, without the risk of being removed accidentally.
The "adoptable storage" is operation with 3 stesps:
- Partitioning,
- Formating,
- Encript...
Is possible
I ask: is it possible to use SD 0 as "adoptable storage"? How to make?
It is possible to do by ADB with the Android, only format and encrypt the partition that is indicated and "adopt".
Sorry my bad English.

Hi everyone,
My Galaxy Ace Plus is my first Android phone, and since I bought it several months ago I was confused because I found 3 memory locations on my device: the Internal Storage, USB Storage, and the External Memory card that I added.
I can't really understand what the USB Storage is?
In fact I made a factory reset few days ago as the device was freezing a lot, and it asked me whether I want to format the USB storage or not, stating that if I chose to format it I will lose all my music and pictures and other files. So I became more confused because all my media files, ebooks, etc. are placed in the External Memory card! so why it would consume space of both storage locations!!
can anyone explain that please?
Also what will I lose if I formated the USB Storage only? would it improve the device performance anyway?
Thanks!

Internal storage , Usb storage & SD storage
internal storage is the one reserved for system, i.e 1.5 GB on Note, or in another words it is the flash memory of the device. It stores the components of ROM or the ANDROID OS. Applications get installed on this memory.
USB storage is the rest of the original storage on Note (i.e around 9.5 GB). In common language an Internal Memory where all your files are saved by default. This memory is used by most of the applications for storage of their data.
Most of the move2sd apps move apps from internal to SD Storage which means the USB Storage.
external SD Card storage, on the other hand, is the storage which relies on another SD Card put into the phone, e.g....external SD Card.
That's before you put external SD card..
If you put another SD Card in the phone, it will read as external SD Card. In the file system, it is known as external_sd.
Now, the answer to your next question.. Formatting the USB Storage of the phone is simply formatting your internal memory. It has nothing to do with PERFORMANCE. it just makes space available on your device's internal memory. :good:
Thanks a lot!

Hi all,
I am using a XOLO Q700 smartphone and tried all possible efforts using xda developer and other sites to swap internal storage to emulated storage. (not to confuse with internal sd to external sd).
I already tried vold.fstab method for all possible combinations to swap sd in addition to mentioned in so many tutorials.
The main problem is my phone has a emulated drive as internal storage and there is no internal sd for apps seperately. I have also attached screenshots for understanding.
link2sd is working for me but data of applications like sygic cant be moved as data files is placed in root of internal sd and not in /android/data/
so only way is to swap sd
Is there any way to swap sd with emulated storage?? please let me know if its there. thanks in advance
Hi all.... I haven't found specific answers to my questions so am posing them here.
I am running CM11
Can you expand your internal storage without doing an entire ext sd card to internal swap? I want to use only part of my ext SD card to enhance the internal storage.
Is there any point in formatting multiple partitions on the ext SD card as fat32 / ext4 / Linux swap anymore? I thought doing this would have part of the partition used for internal storage and part as the ext sd card storage. Formatting the SD card through CWM deletes all partitions and formats it all as FAT32 for external storage only.
Thanks and go Blaze haha

You can partition your SD card on your pc into pieces that android won't recognize..follow this as a guide..the program is fantastic

Thanks ink. I will look at this more tonight but I did use Partition Wizard Home and formatted the first partition as FAT32 which is recognized as the external SD card1 in CM11 but the 2nd EXT4 partition isn't recognized by the ROM it seems. Maybe I just don't know how it would be used but checking the storage in settings didn't have any change to internal.
I have a Nexus5 and I'm taking the plunge on buying this for my girlfriend for cheap...
The question is, it has 16GB advertised as ROM, but out of that, how much is REALLY user available?
For example, I had a Microtek phone which had 8 GB rom, but it was partitioned into system, internal and phone
system had like 2GB, phone had 5GB available for photo storage and stuff, and 1GB for apps... which was really a hit in the nuts.
Is it the same with this Motorola phone? I read somewhere it says 16GB but only 12 User avaiable
out of those 12, are they all real for app installations?
What I want to avoid is installing two games and having an "insufficient memory" window
please help!
Thanks!!
Anyone?
Can you just go into Storage settings and tell me how much memory does it read for Internal Storage and if there's another partition named Phone Storage? or if Internal Storage is the only partition? (other than the SD card), can you switch between SD card and internal for app installation?

That's what I read on my phone :
Internal storage :
Total space 11,65GB
Available 11.25GB
Apps (app data & media content) 270MB
....
There's no Phone Storage folder.

That depends on your rom. If you're on JB stock, KK rooted or Lollipop, you'll surely have the choice between SD card and Internal Storage.

Perfect answer, thanks man!!!!!! :highfive:
I want to keep my files in SD card . Also I want to move apps to SD card at the same time.
I have tried creating 2 partition in SD card using aparted app. Both were in exfat format (means portable). Then I went to settings > storage and formatted one of the partitions as internal storage. But unfortunately both partitions became internal instead of one.
Look inside here:
Make your SD card Semi-adopted. Works great!
EDIT: MARSHMALLOW ONLY I hate the small amount of internal memory, but I don't want to make my ENTIRE SD of 128GB Adopted and unremovable. So I found this post describing how to make your SD only partially Adopted by splitting the partition in...
