Can't Send/Receive MMS. Bad APN settings? - Verizon HTC One (M8)

So quick background:
S-OFF, TWRP, enewman17's GPE rom. My phone died last Saturday, and as you guys may know, modified M8s don't like to die. Something got majorly corrupted and I couldn't even launch half the apps (incld. TiBu). I made a NAND to be safe in TWRP, then did a factory reset (stock RUU, reset in stock recovery) and then applied the latest GPE ROM (H13). I then set about restoring everything.
Since I couldn't do any TiBu backups before the crash, I relied on month old backups to restore from (I turned off android backup to Google). Prior to restoring apps and data via TiBu my MMS was working fine (I sent/received a few on Sunday). After restoring via TiBu, I can no longer send / receive any MMS.
So here's my question:
1. Does TiBu store logs somewhere? I ran a batch action but didn't select everything. I suspect the culprit here might be "Phone and Messaging Storage" (SMS/MMS/APN) which I don't think I should have restored but may have. I previously had issues where I couldn't get MMS and I wonder if perhaps the backup restored whatever APN issues that were giving me trouble in the past? (I don't remember if the backup was from when it wasn't working but I suspect that is the case).
2. Is there a way to restore the APN details if they were incorrectly modified? I haven't made any recent backups...
My last ditch attempt will be to nuke it again and be more careful about what I restore but I'd rather not have to go through everything again. I've got a lot of settings in GravityBox, xposed modules, etc. that are tedious to correct every time...
Thanks!

[Q] Question regarding restoring data contents from recovery...

Hey guys, just a quick question regarding restoring User Apps data from recovery.
I find myself flashing new roms more and more often these days, and it's becoming a tedious and repetitive task to install my apps and setup everything manually.
I use Titanium Backup PRO to restore my apps, and for my text messages I use GO SMS PRO to restore them.
The problem is, if you e.g. try to flash from CM7 to CM9, or flash from your current rom to an entirely different rom (which may also require a different kernel to be flashed), then as far as I know you can't simply use Titanium Backup to restore your apps data/settings. You can only use it to restore the apps (simply just installing the .apk files), but you would have to manually configure the settings all over again. I'm sure this has happened to many people with regards to using Titanium Backup when restoring user app data/settings, where they experienced corrupted data or battery drain issues etc.
As for restoring text messages with GO SMS PRO, it works but it lags and takes a long time. It would often popup the force close error box, and I would have to always choose "WAIT" to make it continue running. It may seem it's lagging or not working but in the end it restores all my messages fine.
Anyway, it's annoying to do all this setup manually, so I was wondering if it's possible to simply recover user apps data AND settings from the recovery? As far as I know, you simply recover /data from the recovery? Will that cause any problems if you were to update from CM7 to CM9?

How to restore using Titanium Backup

I had recently rooted my phone and had installed Titanium backup using which I backed up all the apps+data.
Using Titanium backup I tried to remove a stock app provided by lg. During this process the phone rebooted twice and after that I saw that the phone had been reset to the factory settings.
I restored by following the below steps
Titanium backup > Backup/Restore > menu > batch > Restore > run Restore missing apps + all system data.
After restoring I observe that the phone is not being able to connect to any wifi, however previously when it was in factory reset it was being able to connect to wifi. Could anyone please help.

I think it was one of "Dhingana", "Bollywoodji" or "AG indian newspapers". I had restored after that but currently I do not find "Dhingana" among the installed apps.
It would be the best of you would factory reset again. If you have a custom recovery, then reboot into it(either from ROM Manager or with phone off holding Volume Down+Home+Power) and wipe data, cache etc. If you haven't got a custom recovery, then power your phone off and use the key combination above. It should work.
And don't use "restore system data" option in Titanium. Better restore individual apps in the "Backup/Restore" without going into the Batch mode.

Which setting/file are the system settings saved in? Things like the nav bar, notification bar, display, account syns, etc....? I know all about the pitfalls of restoring system data across different ROMs and for those cases, I just bite the bullet and redo all of those settings. But it seriously takes an hour or two to go in and redo all of those settings and if a RM is getting updated every couple of weeks, this just gets way too tedious for it to be worth it.
I know I can just do a system data + app and data restore for those cases and I do use that but there are times when I do not want every single thing restored and it would be nice to know which file all of those settings are saved in. I tried tinkering with just a few of those but I could not seem to find it.
Thank you in advance for any help, much appreciated.
And/or which file(s) cause the android.process.media to stop working and in general causes apps to crash? Also, does the Android ID cause/affect that? Thanks again.
[Edit] After much trial and error, I found the cause of the android.media.process and all apps in general crashing as a result problem(s). It was the file(s) Download Manager eng.prbassplayer and/or Downloads eng.prbassplayer inside Titanium Backup - Restore System Data selections. Just fyi for those wanting to know. I restored all other system and app data besides those and had no problems whatsoever with all Interface settings restored. I still did not figure out which file restored the Interface settings, if anyone could still shed some light on that.
This post relates to custom ROMs and restoring stuff with TB. Hoping someone can help.
I have been playing with Resurrection Remix for the last 7 months and have recently switched to Vanilla Rootbox.
With these two ROM's (and probably others) when an update is released a wipe/factory reset is required before installing the update. This causes a great amount of inconvenience as I have to manually re-setup all my shortcuts/widgets, email accounts, custom settings such as custom settings (toggles, etc...) ringtones and notifications sounds and so on.
All this takes ages and I'm getting a little tired of having to do it. There must be an easier way? Can this sort of stuff be restored with TB? I could be wrong but I don't think it can.
Many thanks.

try to save them in TB, if you can find in TB and save them it will be restored to any rom you will use in future
I was under the impression that those settings caused problems if formats were needed and especially between different ROM's?
And yeah, tmarinos I definitely her you there. I have stopped using those extra customizations for my ROM, though I can usually restore my home screen and app drawer settings safely, thankfully.
The developers of my ROM (Slim Bean) have started that they want to include a feature to restores those settings between resets, so hopefully that type of feature becomes more integrated as time goes on. Hopefully.
On another note, my phone's TB is having issues. When it runs an automated scheduled backup task, it keeps saying "insufficient storage" but if I manually run that exact same task it runs just fine. Anyone have any idea what that's about?

[Q] Restore data from XML (Titanium Backup, SMS/MMS)

HI,
I recently flashed from Trickdriod to ADHD back to Trickdroid on my HTC One (Rogers). I used Titanium Backup to backup all my apps, HTC Sense (desktop), messages, call log, wifi.. etc. I copied the backup to my desktop prior to doing a full SD format and flashing Trickdroid.
Now for the problem, during the restore back to Trickdroid I used Titanium Backup's "restore data from XML" feature, the call log came back fine, but the wifi/MMS does not. Each time I try is force closes the app and a pop up window with "Unfortunately, Titanium Backup has stopped" displays.
I've tried using SMS Backup & Restore to open the XML file as well. Does not work.
Is there any way to get the information from the XML file? Am I doing it wrong?
Thanks,
K.

I upgraded Titanium Backup and was able to restore at least 70% of my messages....
Well first of restoring this type of data is asking for trouble. You should never restore system data as it can cause issues including bootloops and unstable roms. Second no app I know of can backup mms messages properly. This is one of the prices you pay for running custom roms. You will have to put all the Wi-Fi settings back each time.
The reason for this is that with each update the system changes so where the DB files were before may not be where they are in the update. This is why the DB get corrupted when people try this.

I have never had that problem before, it just came up when I went back from 4.2.2 custom rom to 4.2.1. I do allways restore wifi, bluetooth and messages without any problem.
For me it worked when I upgraded TB...I didn`t get 100 % om SMS/MMS back but the most important one

I've been trying to restore my SMS/MMS messages from the XML file I backed up, but I believe some images embedded in the code have corrupted the XML format. I've been trying to clean it up but since it's an 81mb XML file, every editor I use craps out and chugs.
Any suggestions?

You can try but it most likely won't work as each messaging app is starting to use their own sms databases so restoring it won't work completely and no app does mms

I would agree to that - I've switched between messaging apps in the past, and have had issues with restoring data with TiBu, but I realized as long as I stick to the same messaging app, and same TiBu version, it works fine.
I successfully recovered the xml backup (sms & call log) using the older version of Titanium Backup - 7.5.0.1.
I had problem restoring xml backup with new version..
TB hasn't been updated in the Playstore for quite a while!

[Resolved] Titanium backup extract SMS/MMS from nandroid

Device info (just in case it is needed):
Samsung Galaxy Nexus (toroplus)
ROM - Slim Bean
Kernel - Lean Kernel
App - Titanium Backup Pro (purchased key)
My problem:
I have A LOT of SMS/MMS messages on my phone. I like to restore ALL of them between ROM flashes. I usually use Appextractor, but now it is NOT working and does not restore my SMS/MMS. (I am not flashing from MIUI/CM to MIUI/CM so that isn't the issue.) I want to use Titanium backup as my go-to backup and restore app. The only problem is, restoring my SMS/MMS the traditional way (backing up the "app" icon with the sms // backing up to XML) takes WAY too long. Appextractor did this in seconds. Now, I would like to restore my SMS from my nandroid backup from within Titanium backup. I have tried enabling migrate system data, and restoring "Messaging" from the nandroid backup but it does not restore my SMS/MMS.
My question is: How can I successfully restore my SMS/MMS from a nandroid using titanium backup? I have emailed their support and have not gotten a reply in a few days. OR if you know why Appextractor (not the beta) has suddenly stopped working, that would be appreciated too.
PLEASE DO NOT:
I don't mean to sound like a ****, but I am not interested in hearing replies/comments like this:
Why do you have so much SMS/MMS?
Use "this app" to do it, it works! (UNLESS it can restore tens of thousands of SMS quickly, as Appextractor did)
Or suggest not keeping them. I am going to keep them, and would like to find a solution to this problem.
Thanks!
RESOLVED: (thanks to nobody on XDA)
Needed to restore Messaging data in Titanium and NOT messaging. Did not see the actual SMS/MMS before.

I found through trial and error why all the apk and nandroid extractors only work on certain parts of image,if you are trying to for example extract your text messages, only the application the phone has registered as the default application for texting is able to make mods. if you switch whatever extracting program you are using in settings to default sms program it will work as it did before kitkat. hope this helps......
P.S
make sure you remember to switch the default back to normal as soon as you are done and reboot your phone before you text anyone,

I made a nandroid using TWRP on my Moto X running 4.4.2. Now I am updated to 4.4.4 and want to extract my texts messages from my 4.4.2 nandroid. I selected the Phone/Messanging Storage for extraction, data only. Titanium B/U extracts the texts fine and the messanging app works fine UNTIL I reboot - after rebooting I can send texts but not receive them anymore.
Any thoughts on why Titanium B/U is messing with my 4.4.4 messanging app?

They're in the format for whatever you exported them for. Soooo 4.4.2 in your case.
For example, restore the 4.4.2 Nandroid, export with https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zegoggles.smssync&hl=en , install 4.4.4, reimport with that too. Or restore 4.4.2 Nandroid, update to 4.4.4 'normally', then you got them in 4.4.4 format.

The text restore fine, it is just that after I restore them I can't receive texts. I can send texts, just not receive them. So Titanium B/U is doing more than just restoring my texts, it is messing with the messanging app somehow. I suspect it may have something to do with the APN.
I have seen others post on other forums about having this problem.

FYI - when I used SMS B/U and Restore I could send and receive texts but it couldn't restore all of my texts, either.

You mean return to 4.4.2, unroot and then take the 4.4.4 OTA? I am likely going to try that. Since my Bootloader is already 4.4.4 it should be fine. From what I recall being posted here in the past, the OTA installer will recognize that my bootloader is up to date and move on to the next item and not try to patch a 4.4.2 bootloader.
I will search the thread to make sure I am remembering this correctly, but IIRC the poster who first posted this was very knowledgeable.
I also could try doing it through the Motorola Device Manager.

Did this, ended up with the same problem.
Noob/idiot alert.....
I've just tried to restore my SMS's by TiBu, but I think I've f'd up a bit.
I ticked 'data only' in TiBu and restored 'phone/messaging storage', but it seems restoring from a HTC M7 Sense backup to an M7 5.1 GPE rom doesn't quite work. (I stupidly thought data would be compatible)
Now the phone just keeps popping up com.android.phone has stopped. no matter how many times I click it keeps popping up.
Unfortunately I didn't make a backup in TiBu before trying this out.
I'm sure I can fix it with a factory reset, or at worst a re-flash, but I'm away from my computer and wifi for a few more hours yet.
Is there a way I can un-do what I did, or fix this in some way, in the mean time?
** IGNORE **
I remembered I had a backup of the original rom, so I've just restored that for the mean time.

[Resolved] [Q] Apps crash post nandroid restore (system apps removed before restore)

First post, read the rules, hopefully I didn't forget any before posting this. Searches weren't helping as much as I'd hoped. If trying to help you likely don't need to read most of this, I provided a lot of detail and history at the end in case some may be relevant.
Summary:
I removed system apps using Titanium Backup Pro. Things seemed to work okay but then I restored nandroid backup(s). The restored phone has a ton of things crash and I think that the nandroid restore did *not* restore system apps I removed.
Shouldn't a nandroid restore put things back as though I never touched it post that backup?
I have a stock ROM for my phone of 4.3 (not the one from Kies). Is my best option to copy it as update.zip on my phone and use CWM to install it, then nandroid restore again?
During all of this I did two nandroid backups to the phone SD and never found them on it (only found ones on the external), but according to the free space, something has taken up roughly 4GB from when I first started playing.
Long-winded version:
I did a nandroid backup in CWM recovery mode. I then did a backup of all apps and data using Titanium Backup Pro. After both backups I used Titanium Backup Pro and removed most of two lists of apps, link reference below, including system apps. I made a second nandroid backup at this point.
I restored my phone to the first nandroid backup. It seemed okay but then a number of apps crash. Titanium Backup Pro, CWM, Google Play, and more close immediately when I try to open them. My Swype keyboard opens in some apps but not others (fails in Chrome), I tried to restore again doing the factory reset wipe in CWM first, same issue. I tried my second nandroid backup, same issue. During this I tried clearing cache and data for the apps and they still crashed.
After trying simply a factory reset, I found I had no keyboard app (so it was hard to tell if certain things worked since I couldn't logon for Google Play). Since I use the Swype keyboard, keyboard was an app I removed (and this worked perfectly fine *before* restoring).
Why I restored:
I was pleased with the results except my BlueTooth quit working and restoring Bluetooth share 4.1.1-L710VPBLJ7 didn't fix it. I restored to my original nandroid backup to see if it had worked there (it did).
Extra Details:
When I rooted my phone I used CF-Auto-Root and Odin 3.09 successfully, then installed SuperSu which disabled KNOX for me. I had a failed attempt first, likely due to a possibly faulty USB port, using Odin 3.07 that resulted in my having to "Firmware Upgrade and Initialization" with Kies.
Links referring to most apps removed, some didn't exist on my phone and the ones listed here were NOT removed:
