In wifi settings there is a list of available networks as well as previously connected networks (not in range). I am trying to set the device up so that the user (and any apps they install) cannot see the list of neighboring SSIDs. They will be connected to one router via a hidden SSID.
Is this possible?

after repair of my diamond i get rom 1.93.831.1.
Now i don't have the option to define my wifi network as hidden ssid.
so, whenever i set then router to hide the ssid i can't get connection to my wifi network, if i unhide the ssid - connection is ok.
any help please ?
I could really use an app which would provide a widget which lists the nearby wifi networks. The user can then tap on the name of one and opt to connect or disconnect.
I use an ad-hoc network at work and unless I manually switch off wifi, it stays connected even when out of range. I also have two separate wifi networks in range of my home which I use. It would be cool to just have a list in a widget so I can tap to connect to a specific one.
It wouldn't even need to scan, just list saved networks (I'll know if I'm in range of them)
Just got my Gtab yesterday and haven't had time to mod/root yet (aside from the automatic update that installed when 1st connected) but was wondering if there's a way with stock ROM to enable the ability to connect to a Wi-Fi router that's not broadcasting its SSID.
I have the connection set up, but it will only find my router when it's broadcasting the SSID, which I'd prefer not to do, and I don't see an option to connect even though the router's not broadcasting it.
I was hoping that once it established the connection, it would remember and reconnect even after disabling the SSID broadcast, but it doesn't.
If not possible with the stock ROM, is this possible with any of the alt ROMs out there?
Good afternoon.
I'm setting up an android device for someone and I want to know if it is possible to block all broadcast SSIDs from showing on the device? Leaving them only able to connect to one router with a hidden SSID.

Thank you.
I saved my home wifi network profile and set it to connect automatically but as soon as I disable broadcasting ssid in the router, it wouldn't connect. I don't see any place to manually input ssid and password. It was there on previous Android versions.
Isn't that under add Wi-Fi network any longer?
I'm using a Note 8 ROM, and I believe the networking setup is the same as stock S8.
Go to Settings/Connections/Wi-Fi and at the bottom is "Add network".
The settings you need are there.
