[DISCUSSION] CM13 for G4 plus - Moto G4 Plus Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi,
I am currently trying to build CM for the g4 plus, but because of my lack of experience I am not able to. Plus, moto hasn't released kernel sources for the g4 plus.
If anybody has any experience in doing this, or has done it countless of times before, please post here. I'll need all the help I can get. Or rather, if anyone is building cm13 right now, I'd like to join and learn as much as possible.
Thanks:good:

@ace312 help him out , as i guess you are trying to build cm13

The probability of me getting the device has reduced, so for now, I have paused for a while. So in turn, I have made my device tree public. Yes it needs work and is incomplete. You'll need to work on it. Here's the link : https://github.com/C-Aniruddh/android_device_motorola_athene
Go ahead, fork it, play with it.

gogogogogogogogo

Hope u ave success man

Kernel sources released https://github.com/MotorolaMobilityLLC/kernel-msm/releases/tag/MMI-MPJ24.139

Can somebody pull the config file?
Code:
adb pull /proc/config.gz
Thanks.

An idea
Is it possible to remove the on-screen button and implement them to the finger print sensors for ex like, one tap- back, double tap- recent and long press-home?. More like Iphone of in not wrong.
Just a thought, sorry if i sound funny or expecting a lot. Tq

yes it is possible, I have a Lenovo A7010.
The scanner is located near the rear of the camera. But the scanner can perform actions on a short and a long touch.
For example short - back
Long - return to the home screen.
I'm not sure, but probably can be done by more pressing.

But I'm not sure if this moto g4 sensor is customisable.

If this gets released, I would jump on it so fast

You can do this for any ROM by modifying res/values/unrestricted_packages.xml within ContactsProvider.apk and adding:
<item>com.facebook.katana</item>
as one of the strings.

Sorry if that wasn't constructive in finding a solution for you
I guess I was pointing out that it wasn't something exclusive to CM. If you need help making this work for you, let me know which ROM version you need this for and the method(s) for transferring files on your phone that you're familiar with (ADB/CWM/etc). I'll try to get something up if somebody else doesn't beat me to it in the meantime.

There is no "values" folder in the res folder. Or maybe I just don't know how to make this work.

Android L

So announcement of android L has been released for dev's on 26 june (today) according to some websites. I looked at some beta screenshots and everything has changed from keyboard to icons. Whilst im looking forward to this new update ( rumors are this fall) will android users be able to adapt to the vast changes in UI or will they want google to go back to the original feel rather than a minimal aproach? Lastly i hope we get an update for it lol

Exactly! I mean i love minimal but wouldnt it destroy android? I feel as if customizations will be lower than before. I feel as though android should stick with the 4.0.4 feel. Even when kitkat some ppl werent happy because of the color change. Minor things is what makes the biggest impacts. Still it would b nice for a ui change
Yh knox maybe a problem. A big one.
Guys Knox implemented not Knox bootloader, that's the big difference.

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound like an ass, just my English is not so good and you know, sometime it's hard for me to say exactly what I really want Don't take it personal.
First, I didn't searched, because I don't like live wallpapers. I saw that some guys are trying to get it to work in one of the CM14.1 threads and I just tried to help them and everyone else that want to try it.
Second, this is not a backport and I just added the libraries that the app needs to work from the Pixel system dump, packed it and signed it so it can be installed like a normal app. The app was taken from the apkmirror website if that matters

Yay!

Received my UK version today from Amazon!!
Well pleased!
Screen is a little small and it's true.. the bezels are massive. I can't understand why Huawei didn't make them useful.
But overall not bad...
Just waiting for the LG Watch to arrive, if it's better and within 30 days then this might go back..
One frustration is that android pay needs a lock screen whereas the LG Watch sport has a proximity sensor so it doesn't lock if worn

As for the lock screen to use Android Pay: After you put the watch on and UNLOCK it, it will stay unlocked while the watch remains on your wrist. At least that is how it is working on mine, and I have the US BT version.

hello guys,
just wake up and see this good news!!!
let's see if we can get our goal.
As because there is no TWRP for HW2, the only way to push english ROM into watch is to flash image files one by one with adb commands.
Before to do this we have to get .img files.
Rom Fastboot Images are: bootloader, boot, cache, recovery, system, userdata. this based on what we saw about HW2.
I have done the procedure with my HW1th gen. and the only images needed was : boot, recovery and system..... enough in my opinion.... but let's say we need all 6 images.
In easy words adb command to dump img is "dd", but there are things to know before you use it.
do you already know something about adb? have you tried to do some tasks with commands?
regards
Been a minute since I have dd anything if you can give me the commands and am I going to need to root. I know certain devices do not allow dumping without root. Put the commands and I will make everyone non US dreams come true.

I would be more then happy to help need the DD commands to pull to computer vs SD card. You provide that I'll give you the files you need. Realize I don't need them I am trying to help you good sir. So if you could get the commands I will get the files.
From what I understand, root is the minimum requirement to dump the system file.
---------- Post added at 03:22 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:21 AM ----------
On the other hand, adb should allow to pull the ota update image which should be sufficient in most case.
