There is no way that you would be able to do ota when you unlocked ur bootloader and it's rooted. That is something that you should know already.
Okay so basically, today I got the request of installing the Android 4.4.4 kitkat update on my rooted moto g. I press yes and that my phone shut off as it's meant to be. Then this is when the problem occurs; when it turns back on it goes to TWRP and it goes the the normal page of TWRP. I reboot my phone to try again and the same thing happens. Can someone help me to get rid of this problem and to install the Android 4.4.4 kitkat update on my rooted moto g? Will be much appreciated :good:
P.S: The Android update was from Google.
Installing an OTA on a Rooted Phone with Custom Recovery is not advisable!
Sent from my XT1052 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I tried too and the installation stops and comes out an error with /system/framework/core.odex.
I tried to flash again stock recovery but it persists..

Same here. Had to flash stock recovery from bootloader (fastboot flash recovery recovery.img) and then reboot, and let the phone reboot and apply the system update.
All is good, and it kept root... No need to have the system breaking TWRP on there.
I get an error while updating, it just says ''error''. I have stock kernel, stock recovery, unrooted... Nothing seems to work, but I think the problem might be that I have a custom boot animation. Is there any way to flash the 4.4.2 stock UK rom?
Use the search guys: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/help/how-update-rooted-moto-g-to-4-4-4-t2823106

Do you have a moto g ? I did a factory reset which meant that the update wouldn''t keep shutting down my phone and then it would go to TWRP. So how do I install the 4.4.4 update?
I got the 5.1 OTA For my XT1039 (MOTO G 4G Tesco)
After downloading it will reboot into CWM (6.0.5.0) and say failed to verify, it then asks if id still like to install and when i press yes it fails and the installation is aborted with status 7.
Should i flash stock recovery ? if so please could i have a link as i ant find it anywhere
I have root and an unlocked bootlaoder with CWM 6.0.5.0 installed
Any help is appreciated
I have same problem. Phone is Moto G4 LTE uk version. Phone is unlocked and I have TWRP recovery, system is XT1039_RET-GB-SS_4.4.4_KXB21.14-L1.56-1_cid7_CFC_1FF . I believe that I need to restore original recovery but how? And what else I have to do?
Yes you have to be completely stock before installing an update
Sent from my Moto G using Tapatalk
so i went to http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/4g-development/xt1039-moto-g-4g-stock-firmware-kxb21-t2805619 and download ''Android 4.4.4 (Tesco Great Britain) KXB21.14-L1.46 CID7''
can i flash via CWM ?
if not is there a tutorial on how to ?
Issue sorted please delete. And thanks again all great guys from this XDA forum.

You have to unroot before you can apply the OTA.
Hi there,
I recommend that you follow these instructions.
Firstly , try flashing the recovery.img from the stock rom files. If that does not work , try re locking your boot loader.
As a last resort fully flash the correct stock rom to your device using fastboot. You can also use my Motorola Toolkit program to automate this process . If you look at the Moto g forums , scroll down on the general section , and look for Motorola toolkit. Download it and place the stock files in the directory as the toolkit . Then run toolkit.py and select flash stock . It should also be under Moto g 3 Tools and Utilities.
If you found this post helpful , please hit the thanks button . It really does mean alot to me !

Hello I have a motorola droid mini xt1030 a small software problem is as follows .
The problem is that the mini droid example whenever you turn it off , restarts : I install apps correctly and then turn off the mini droid and when you start , starts restarte.
It is trying to flash with RSD Lite other firmware or Moto Fastboot but first I get the error for flashing firmware two files that are " motoboot " and " recovery"
But all other files firmware is flashed correctly and mini droid starts again restarted with the same software version 4.2.2 android . As if nothing rewrite
It is used firmware and pratically not work CFC_obakem_verizon-user-4.4.4-SU6-7.3-release-keys.xml.zip
notes I must clarify that the mini droid originally not have stock recovery, if I entered recovery says: "Boot up failed" . If the factory reset does not work. The bootloader is locked
I can not unlock motorola says: your device does not qualify for unlocking bootloader ( I did this in Windows XP, some problems ? )
You can install obake_verizon-user-4.2.2-12.9.0Q2.X-160-OBK_TA-14-7-7-release-keys-CFC.xml.zip is for ultra droid in mini droid ?

Hi
This is somewhat complicated
If I try to flash firmware " CFC_obakem_verizon-user-4.4.4-SU6-7.3-release-keys.xml.zip "
Result: Not flashing "motoboot.img", " recovery.img"
But I found the firmware " obake_verizon-user-4.2.2-12.9.0Q2.X-160-OBK_TA-14-7-7-release-keys-CFC.xml.zip " this can correctly flash " motoboot " etc.
Result: Actually flashing not overwrite the old firmware mini droid ( That is android 4.2.2)
I want to know
How is that possible flash and overwrite the old firmware?
Note
-No bootloader unlocked
-I can not install sunshine ( in 4.2.2 )
-The Page will not let me unlock motorola current
The typical : Your divice does not qualify

I think your mini is an early factory one whose BL is 30.30 ,&it cant be flashed to 30.70 or later (I have compared the bootloader version between 12.9.0Q2.X-160-OBK_TA-14-7 & laters ,they are not Compatibled, you will see the MPRG8960.HEX is diffirent in mbm-ci folders.)

BTW,since you mini has an eaily BL version ,you may unlock it with MotoPocalypse.apk which is from DROID RAZR M
